Why does this happen after confirming Afternic inquiry?

I often get Afternic inquiries. As I should. But why is it when I do and I go and make changes to my pricing that I get this message all the time?

Am I an idiot? Have I been totally missing out on sales by not opting for fast transfer?

Is the message below the standard message when you confirm inquiries and make changes ?

"Optin to fast transfer with your registrar 07/08/2020"

"One quick thing: We just need you to notify your registrar that you are allowing us to facilitate the transfer during the sale of the following names:

********.com You will receive an email shortly, which will be sent to the administrative contact on the WhoIs record of your domain name.

To opt-in, simply login and accept. Thanks"

Does the above mean I have an actual sale?

I'm embarrassed to admit I've ignored all of them and never did what it said.

The wording of this message is a bit confusing.

To me it sounds like "you have a sale! Better do fast transfer"

But I suspect I'd be going thru that process but no actual sale. I don't like wasting my time if no sale.

Why ask us to do this if no actual sale?

No, it does not mean a sale. It means opting for fast transfer, nothing else.

Not quite the impression I get from the amount of your posts here :xf.wink:

Also it's a bit deceptive. Many times I almost proceeded to do what they asked and then realized. Probably not a sale.

I mean serious. The perfect scenario anyway is for the inquiry to head over and visit the domain they are interested in and ask me via my Efty lander.

Idiot, no. Missing out on sales, Maybe, but not for the reason you're thinking because this isn't saying you have a sale. But opting in to fast transfer will put your domain in the registration path at more partner registrars which may lead to a sale you wouldn't get if not opted in.

I can see that, but thats not what it means. Afternic and Godaddy aren't known for the clearest messaging IMO.

100% not a sale but IMO a good idea to maximize exposure for your domain. Because for me personally registrar syndication is the only reason to use Afternic, and fast transfer puts the domains at more registrars.

Agreed but some buyers don't know to or think to type a domain in. They go to their registrar of choice and search there, and with Afternic (and even more so with fast transfer on) if you own Example.com and they search for Example.com at a partner registrar they will see it available at a "premium" price (your BIN). Whereas without Afternic it would merely show as taken and they might not realize they could still get it if they are willing to pay your price.

If your domain is registered at a participating registrar, this is an automatic response, as soon as you put it up for sale at Afternic. It's an opt-in, nothing more.

The advantage of opting-in, you get more exposure to their premium network. Believe me, their inventory gets searched.

Afaik that used to be true but no longer is. I think its 50k now, not 100% sure though....
I'm not certain of the limit but it's above 50K. It might be account dependent, I don't know.

It's $100k max as far as I know.

It's good to opt in in some instances. The main problem I've faced is that it can take up to a month to get the confirmation email at your registrar and sometimes you never get it so your name ends up in a permanent state of limbo/pending (also experienced when listing names with afternic). Then the only way to start it again was to delist and realist the name.

Another way is to write support. I do it regularly.
I copy paste this in their support form:

Hello,
my id is "insert ID here"

I uploaded a CSV file of my domains and I have xxx Domains Pending Review.

Can you please review them ?
- validate those which need manual verification
- unlist those that were listed by previous owners

Thank you,
Best regards
