The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Those of you in the US, Have a great Independence Day weekend.
Everyone else have a great weekend.

I'm hoping to find some with spherical cameras (VR) in big city's who are still having fireworks !
Hey... It is something new to do with VR.

Right now actually people are going for Virtual spelled out rather than VR even, because of the covid thing etc, XR looks like its dead, VR is only one i think is really going to be huge, you should ping me to chat on vr and share ideas i have few hundred plus domains in that niche alone

You do know the virtual stuff being adopted in covid 19 is totally different to virtual reality I take it?

Yes virtual is a great keyword but is used more for the (tele) kind of usage such as zoom appointment/meetings and fitness classes etc, so really exactly what the virtual keyword should be used for. Virtual Reality is totally different to this kind of usage.

And saying XR is dead? XR is definitely not dead, I get more offers on my XR domains than the rest of my portfolio.

A few weeks ago earthxr sold for $5,800

But a strange statement. If you believe in VR then XR will be massive because its the umbrella term of everything VR related.

Can you show examples of what you are saying ?

XR is not dead. It is not a separate thing like VR or AR, but a descriptive term used to identify 'company's'' or disciplines that use either/both. Used more in branding.

Right now (as I see it) VR is finally coming to age after all the investment.
AR (glasses style) is coming in development but still lags VR by 3-4 years.
They are not competing forces, despite those that think of it that way because of their investments in the names part of the equation. They each have their own need and use.
XR does not compete either, but augments them.

Virtual is in a class of it's own and does not necessarily describe visual infotainment, but can.

The point was not that, it was that the term virtual spelled out has more value because domains with that are selling, its not saying VR has anything to do with covid its about market trend.

XR you just have to look at the domain sales for VR versus XR recently, or how easy it is to get great XR names registered because of lack of interest, and its not about terminology its about adoption, same reason why cannabinoid (though longer i will admit so not perfect example) is blanket term for CBD CBG CBN etc but has little to no interest still.

Do you have a lot of VR in your portfolio or mainly XR, i have both and the XR names i've got many even top keywords (just an example store, gear, etc not saying those are exact ones but same level) and the vr's are getting 10x the interest. I'm not saying this in a negative tone i like these discussions because its way we all stay tuned to the market, pm me if interested in chatting more on it and i dont mind sharing some of the names there and what my offers have looked like compared to the vr names i have.

The top sale for Wednesday was Reality.app at $24,000. The domain name sold at Sedo. According to Namebio it sold just 3 months ago at Sedo for just $1,650. Pretty nice flip for whoever sold it. The domain name was registered in 2018. Selling for $24,000 places Reality.app in a tie with Me.app for the […]

Pretty stiff whad of cash.
I can't really see the value there but that is in the eye of the buyer, and we just will have to see what exactly they do with it.

I think it's a powerful name, whether it's related to immersive tech or not!

Sometimes I feel the future of immersive space will be written by this company Varjo. They don't give a f about mainstream rn, just focusing on the best tech for the highest end enterprise level.. but it will be so much easier for them to capture the mass market when they decide to.. and they've confirmed they're already working on a consumer headset

CryptoReality dotcom sold at GD expiring auction for $577. Previously sold for $3,895 according to Godaddy but not on NameBio.com. I acquired the reverse early this year for a much lower price.

The tech displayed in that video is actually...

VIRTUALITY

If it should make it's way to market. I doubt we will see it in consumer markets anytime soon. Perhaps in 10-15 years. Only the big spenders in Industrial/Commercial markets for now.
Something could trigger that to speed-up though. Competition ?

It will eventually happen.
Some parts are slow or sluggish for real time for your life to rely on it and others are just cost prohibitive.
That will change.
That is the $.99 answer.
The $1k answer is a question of when ?
We 'might' only be 2 breakthroughs away . The news you hear is just enough to keep investors following/hyped enough to warrant all the R&D spending.

Apple Takes AR Lenses Into ‘Trial Production’

Cheers!
It has been expected that Apple is targeting 2023 for a AR glasses style release. And they likely need to have a prototype available for dev's to work with, so, I would expect that the year before intended release for retail.

What I think that article is pointing out to me is that they need to have the production kinks worked out.
They might be at that stage for more than a year because cost of production is also a factor.
So they will be testing 'methods'.

I would again cation anyone from thinking the first model will be a holoens 'like' device.
It is my belief it will be more a utility device. And much cheaper than most anything out there.
But it could be, I just doubt it.

If I am in the mind of Apple ?, one can see the monetization possibilities with a utility device.
Advertisers are always looking for a chance to get their message in front of you and here is a chance to do that like no other while providing other information about your surroundings.
