Hello.
Just thought of this while on "the throne" having a "battle" lol. need more fiber.

anyways. I was about to register some .hk and then it dawned on me.

would the domains I was about to register do not agree with the CCP (Chinese Communist Party).

would the .hk domains I was about to register be deleted? or would the .hk registry catch it and say. "This domain has been reserved"

The .hk registry did this to me once when I tried to register the .hk domain for crypto related domain that was pretty sweet. Marcaria said they could not register it and that their system had a glitch and that the domain should not have shown as available to register and allow me to go thru the full process to register and pay for it.

I call BS but anyways.

What are your thoughts?

would you register any .hk domains that would go against the CCP.

I mean the assumption here is if you register a keyword that the CCP would not like. They could just order the .hk registry to just confiscate it.

I don't want another ".es incident" to happen to me again with .hk.

The reason I ask is because I have found at least 4 domains that would be perfect to register right now.

who would buy them especially since these will probably piss off the CCP.
could I sell them to the CCP?
I doubt it when they have the power to simply take them.

looking at what is going on in Hong Kong right now I fear it would be a bad investment. HK sadly is going down the toilet as far as politics. Very scary.

Visiting Hong Kong was one of my Bucket List places to visit before I kick the bucket. Scratch that off my list. I don't want to "disappear" and the show up weeks later publicly praising the CCP after not having slept for 30 days straight.

So what do you think? at this point in time are .hk domains now heavily censored like .cn or .top or .xyz or .club domains because of the CCP?

in a CCP Hong Kong. is it wise to stay away from .hk domains in general especially with keywords that the CCP would not particularly like?

One particular .hk domain that I just found makes me laugh that it was not registered.

"very strange"

NOT REALLY lol

I'm keeping the domains to myself until I get more opinions from you guys.

at $20 a pop it's not very cheap to register .hk domains on a whim.

I think this is a fair question that I'm surprised has not be asked yet.

I wouldn't be worry if you don't develop it and press something bad against CCP, I don't know there is a such rule that you can't reg crypto related domain but I do know they were the first place announce the law of the crypto-currencies IPO legislation.
As I know it's not just HongKong prohibit reg crypto related domains once I regged such domains in .ma (morocco) had been rejected as well.
I understand why you concerned about .cn .top but why .club .xyz the root servers are not even there?

I just assume as I am not really too familiar with .club and .xyz but since most of the domains registered in these extension were Chinese or at least owned in thee end by Chinese. I just assumed the registry was of Chinese location.

I think it depends on founders whether want to deal with CCP if they were willing to pay enough $$$ to them, such as Tesla...or Disney... some founders see opportunity in China due to its population especially domain industry that a whopping volumes of .com regged by Chinese.

forgot to say....Well..........the domains in question "really" would be an "issue" for the CCP.

you guys are probably going to rush now and try to figure it out. You'll be surprised if you find out.

it's one of those domains that when you see it available you think.

"that should have been registered way back when and renewed since and not be available now.

And then you think. I wonder why it hasn't been? and then you think. ohhhhh CCP!

Too bad you can't find out when a .hk was deleted or if it ever was registered.

That why I've never touch sort of domains such as .top .win etc, I am kinda fan of .xyz just because the head office is under .xyz registry based in Los Vegas, it has future because of their inclusiveness of worldwide usage, if its root is under CCP authority I wouldn't reg any at the very beginning.

I wouldn't register any. HK domains regardless. Free speak anywhere is a myth. You can only say what you want as long as it conforms with what the majority or the people in control believe. Censorship is just as bad in the US, UK etc as it is in China.
