so i've been domaining for 5 years.. and its been all regs for me (99%) ... and 99% of those were off fresh expiries. so I wasn't really expecting bigger sales .. i guess u could say aftermarket buying for resale is still something thats ahead of me... and i do look forward to it indeed.

that being said... my highest sale so far was 4 figures... 6xxx... so today when i had first offer in low 5 figures, which looks rather genuine ... i thought i'd make post of it... for others to learn from and for those with more experience to comment on.. and for me, well, to make my first 5fig sale as big as possible... :) thus... how would you respond to such bodis inquiry? its a 2-3 year old .ca handreg... taken in 30-40 tlds... let me know yer thoughts.......inquiry quote:

Offer: USD 12500
Message:
My client asked me to reach out to you. They want to use this for a business in Toronto. Please let me know if the bid works for you. They can move quickly if so

I got an 50K offer at Dan for a domain with the pattern "24xxxxx.com". Haven't replied.

Edit: The funny thing is, it's a small chance but it might even be a valid one, so I messaged Dan to ask if there's any downside to accepting and seeing what happens.

It's an industrial related domain and the country where the user is from has a lot of industry. Still... price is high.

I don't understand. What is the risk of accepting an offer? you are not forced to transfer the domain until the funds are secured at Dan.

ok all over now.
i emailed him twice today reminding him of his promise and comitment to buy today if i take his 4k.. one broken comitment (12.5k) was enough for me... so i wanted make sure there is no 2nd one.... so.....

he bought at 4k just now
paid

that was a weird one

i guess my first 5fig sale will need to wait... and though i've only ever owned a few dozens of .ca names over years, selling but handful... so at least out of all this i still get by far the biggest .ca sale i made so far.....

thanks for all yer input.. feel free to discuss further anythign u want of course.. i hope we all learned something from this. cheers

p.s i'll still offr him the .co
if their kinda securing various tlds, and .com is their primary.. they should be more than intereasted in .co........i'll update if it sells too.

true... though in some cases there are many signs it will not work out.. new member, new reg domain, huge $$$$ money offered.. etc... still no harm in accepting offer. especially on dan... where u can edit the name, uncheck sold right after accepting offer and its right back on market.. its different on sedo gd etc where u gotta wait some time. taking name off market.. but on dan.. nothing to lose.. since poster said he emailed dan about downsides, he may not be aware of this uncheck sold option.

Yes, I was not aware of the option. Thanks!

I have accepted the $50K offer after seeing the buyer is a company. It might be legit as I've said, though slim chance. But we'll see. Not having high expectations right now.

good.
well the sad truth which u also may not have known, is that there is super high rate of unpaid buyers on dan.. compared to other markets... so things often do not work out.. of course the higher the sale price, for not a liquid name paid good amount, those unpaid rates odds just go up,

Oh yes I know about the super high rate of unpaid. 4 out of 5 buyers never pay at Dan. Though I don't blame them for that, the traffic is brought by the domain itself so that's just the folk lurking around.

hmmm.. well... maybe its the way dan designs the offer system or checkout.. it has to be something.. cause same names can sell with no issue on gd or sedo.. its hard to pin point whhy it happens with dan... but it definitely happens..

its one of main reasons i basically use dan for add lead only... and basically put all my names on bodis parking and inquiry.

The environment on GD and Sedo is completely different, and so are the users. These are marketplaces integrated with a lot of other domain selling locations and they bring their own traffic to you. Which is very different from parking. The users on GD are entirely aware and ready to buy domains.

Parking is a different thing. Most often there are just lurkers and I bet some are just curious how much this or that domain will go for and they make an offer to see if it sticks. I know cause I used my own parking on them and the situation is not different from Dan. This is why I said I don't blame them for it.

your right actually... gd sedo buyers find you on their markets.. no sale landers... whereas nobody finds you on dan market .. and its all thru landers there or nothing... so that can well explain it all like u say.

i gues putting bin on dan solves all unpaid issues.. maybe i'll try it one day.
im all makeoffer across all markets.. basically always have been.
way easier to manage with 1000 names..
i only regret missing afternic expaned network.
but hey.. if I had bins everywhere this name i just sold here would be < 1000$.. so sometimes bin better than makeoffer and viceversa..

For me it doesn't. I've found the best option at Dan is to use make offer.

well i meant only for unpaid members
putting bin on dan makes all buyers pay before the domain is marked sold.
in that sense, bin solves all unpaid buyers issues on dan.

In that respect, you are correct.

I also got an offer at Dan of 1M for one domain recently, but decided it wasn't worth my interest. Too low. :xf.smile::xf.wink:
