Here's my question..what is the value of domain hack? I've seen some good domain hack and i was wondering about the value of it. I myself own one and i'm not sure whether or not i should get more. I haven't seen any sale of domain hack. Why do we register domain hack? Is it because the domain looks cool or because there's a potential end user who's willing to buy such domain?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Which one you own .com or .fish? Or .sh?

I don't own any of them. Was just using those domain names as an example.

Great. Yes you are absolutely right. I was looking something like that. You got really nice hacks. Also namng have great hacks there.
Thanks. Nami.ng has great collection of hacks, but my Naming.ge is not related to it.

HandRegg of the Day

GERMANGUI.DE

I believe .DE and German here is a good combination and google also shows some good number of results in searching.

Hi guys. Do domain hacks fall under the same categories as non-hacks? Like LLL, NNN, CCVC, NNLN, etc. For example, would the hack, GO.AT be considered an LL or CV domain? or are there a different category for hacks? Thanks in advance.

GO.AT is a hack and LL keyword ccTLD at the same time. If an example would be TW.AT then its 90% hack and 10% some LL acronym possibility.

Thanks for the explanation.

In week's update at Nami.ng we've tweeted to Elon Musk to see if he knows ElonMu.sk redirects to his twitter page.

As a shameless plug, if you're on Twitter, feel free to follow and engage. I'm trying to post a weekly update including 10 - 15 new Domain hacks in active use weekly on a Saturday.

Currently the list includes around 270, with many more to come!

Thanks

Al

That would make sense, there's the obvious value for them to use the domain as a shortener across their social media.

I'm the one who sent ElonMu.sk to nami.ng

I know a lot of companies and celebrities who use domain hacks, I will report them later.

@Alexej K
Are you the owner of nami.ng ?

Max from @DomainHacks.com owns the domain, the website itself is being developed and managed by me.

We've partnered up in recent months to generate a wider awareness of Domain hacks in the domaining and business world, got some interesting ideas and discussions going so we'll see where that leads us.

@Alexej K - I have been working on a landing page for the Go.LA site with the Epik website builder and have come across a social site link available 'Tawk.to' (obviously a play on 'talk to') - wondered if you had come across it and was thinking of putting it up on the nami.ng site?

Just shows that in the real world outside domaining that paying such low 'rents' is deemed a bargain still. Even if a domain renews at $1,000 a year that is less than $20 a week, what would you get for that in the bricks and mortar business world, if you were lucky a broom cupboard in a broken down office.

I agree with you, but Namibia domains .na are like $5k per year.

I know because I wanted to register some .na domains about 5-7 years ago, and when I saw the reg/renewal price (it was around $4-5 k) I said to myself, don't be stupid and close that tab asap lol.

$5k a year renewal is a lot. I wouldn't consider it unless it was going to be used for a personal business. I wouldn't register one just to add to my portfolio in hopes of selling it higher unless the domain was "D.NA"

Snap. LOL

By any chance it wasn't some US geo's you were thinking about? (That's what I considered. :xf.wink: )

Didn't come across it (altho funnily enough, going through the names that will be updated on the site tomorrow, now)

The main focus on Nami.ng are one-word English dictionary names (corporate URL shorteners and Personal names), so it wouldn't really match the criteria right now.

That's a Great idea, and I would love to support you guys!

We hope that's all startups start adopting domains hacks. Because that's we help us to sell our names faster.

We are aiming not only to grow the awareness, but also to provide an outlet to help sell domain hacks, so watch this space :)
