Hello,
I bought a domain name from Godaddy auction for $728.00 on Jun 25, 2020

and today Jun 29, 2020 I got a refund

Does this mean that the owner renewed the domain or something? Also the domain is already listed on namebio , do I have to contact them to remove it because I didn't get the domain?

If this happens too often , is that mean that some namebio sold names are not even real ? my previous thread was about a domain that had an incorrect sale report, and now a purchase that I didn't even get.

About the refund: Godaddy support told me that they refunded the money to my master card , but I have used my payoneer card to make the payment , and due to wirecard issue , payoneer cards are not working and our funds are frozen, I have tried to explain this to the support but they can't even understand what's going on with payoneer and wirecard , according to payoneer , it said :

So I'm pretty sure that the money wasn't refunded , I have asked to refund to my paypal account , but no help was given.

The owner transferred it from NameCheap to GoDaddy after the auction ended, which nullified the results of the auction. Unfortunately GoDaddy allows registrar partners different terms, where it's still possible to renew/transfer after the auction is over. It can't be done when the domain is already at GoDaddy though, which is true for most of the auctions.

Yes, some auctions that we track don't actually end up completing; it's just the nature of the business. Almost nobody actually shares data of completed sales, so we just have to do our best. It's a very small percentage that don't complete though, remember we're tracking more than a thousand auctions a day.

You don't have to contact us, but I certainly appreciate it when you do so I can correct the data :)

No need, only one auction ended at $728 at GoDaddy on that date. I took care of it.

Yeah, unfortunately it happens all the time.
I just start noticing that, is that a way for people to appraise their domain names? I mean seeing how many people will bid and how high it will goes , then renew it when the auction ends ?! There should be a way to fix this

So I'm pretty sure that the money wasn't refunded

It is likely that it was :( GoDaddy might never receive the money actually, since it is how the card processing works - first the money are placed on hold, and only after a few days they arrive to sellers bank. So, the real $$$ might never leave wirecard bank, if godaddy simply removed the hold and called it a refund.

And, in any case, credit card merchants are generally not allowed to refund using different methods. If you purchased something and paid with visa/mc/amex - and the seller subsequently issues a refund - then the seller is not supposed to use any other methods to refund. At least as per credit card operational rules. So, even though wirecard bank may not be operational at this time - the technical balance on the card should be increased as the result of godaddys refund...

Actually, as i understood from Joe's explanations in some other thread, it happens mostly with domains from other registrars auctioned on GD.
