NameLiquidate.com Liquidation Platform (Official Thread)

NameSilo
Watch
NameLiquidate.com is a liquidation platform for domainers, registrars, and wholesale buyers of domains. The market was carefully crafted from an idea on Dec. 3rd 2019 - Completed within 30 days, and has been a work-in-progress since.

You can read the origins of this idea and the subsequent discussions that took place between December 3 2019 to March 8 2020.
https://www.namepros.com/threads/do...m-seeking-input-for-new-epik-project.1166450/

We hope to further develop this liquidation market to help domain investors recover precious capital for other renewals or reinvestments. Our intention is to capitalize on the underutilized and often ignored, expiry stream. Those domains which eventually end up in the hands of big domain houses for resale, with no compensation to the previous registrant/owner.

You will see regular updates and notifications on this thread.

Personal note from @DanSanchez: My original intent was to help expiring domains become more liquid and to pass on the capital back to the original registrant at Epik. Since it's inception, NameLiquidate has evolved into a full liquidation platform for new, expiring, and aged domains. I hope to see participation here, questions and doubts will also be welcomed.

My future goal is to invite more registrars to send their expiry stream through NameLiquidate, compensate their previous registrants, and to foster a cooperative attitude for long-term relationships.

Please contact support here, by DM, or via our support chat at Epik.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You are not allowed to list newly registered (60 day) names as I understand it. This was changed, so in the past it was done by a few.

I have just tried one of my domains registered at Epik, Alameda-County.com, and it has been accepted, registered on the 7th June, so definitely still within the 60 day 'lock'.

Looking for info from any source.

Is there a way to see what names, using the epik system, to find what names I may have active in the nameliquiade platform? I am having trouble locating at tab/search function. Thnx.

Hi ,

You can go to Settings -> Nameliquidate option from Epik domain portfolio page and select 'Domain I am selling' to see the list of domains listed at nameliquidate

Just to make sure this wasn't a one off fluke with the above I subsequently added another 17 domain names, again all registered at Epik, and all within the 60 day lock period. All were accepted and are listed successfully. (To save you searching they all have the advised reserve of $69. LOL)

(Ah well I guess this will at least test out for me the validity of using NameLiquidate as a sales venue. Now let us see if any of them get bids???)

@DanSanchez - I am just trying out NameLiquidate for the first time.

I have read through everything I could find about the NL system but have a couple of questions if I may.
  1. What are the approximate unique views of the auctions on average. (On the main Epik site we can of course see the number of visitors to our listings but I cannot see where this is shown on NL.)
  2. What do you estimate the current percentage sale rate to be of the domains listed, obviously this varies but a ball park percentage would give a good understanding of likelihood of sale.
I am surprised that presently there are only just under 1,600 domains listed, I just thought that it would have been a lot more.

Ah well nearly 2 days of the 7 days of listing gone and no sign of interest in any of the 18 domains so far, well not a single 'bid' made as far as I can see (apparently I think sellers are supposed to see if a bid is actually placed below the then current price listing).

I think I am right in saying that domains can be withdrawn from the Dutch auction at any time, well I will let these run down, they will reach their reserve at about 10 hours, so those 10 hours will give me plenty of time to withdraw them.

I do wish there was some way to see how often a domain name had been visited, and also as requested by a previous poster some way for potential buyers to have a 'watch list' for domains that they might be interested in bidding on. Both would seem logical improvements to the system to me.

What do you mean "visited"? When i spot a domain in the list a the NL site, or in the list i downloaded, i don't need to further "visit" or "open" it or whatever. How would you count how many ppl looked at the name? ))

When you click on the domain name in the list of domains. (I have just done it to check that the individual name 'page' appears, it does.)

Hope this explains what I mean. (y)

Actually @golan your post brings up another stat that could be included for sellers, the number of times the file is downloaded, this would indicate number of possible buyers which have gone to the trouble of downloading and therefore indicating that domains are being viewed (and of course hopefully considered - LOL).

Well the experiment on NamesLiquidate so far.
  • less than 3 days to go on each of the 18 domains
  • No bids placed, yet. (Mind you I don't even know if anyone has looked at any of them)
  • Comparison to listing similar domains on NamePros at fixed price (at the same amount as the reserve on NL) has to be admitted that none on NamePros have attracted purchases (unless you count the 7 domains that I have been asked to hold until next month on a promise of a sale then, but this seems an unfair comparison as similar is not allowed on NL)
  • Perhaps it is just my domains are useless. :xf.frown: LOL

What happens if a domain gets sold elsewhere (as Fast Transfer - Afternic/Sedo), and currently has a bid on NameLiquidate? Do you have to contact support or do they get removed?

You shouldn't really be selling it elsewhere if it's on NL. Listing it on NL means you are guaranteeing that you can deliver the domain if it sells. If this has happened I suggest you contact support ASAP. Whoever was bidding on it will be a bit annoyed that it will disappear, so I would highly recommend against listing elsewhere at the same time in future, otherwise it ruins the platform if people can just go cancelling auctions whenever they feel like it.

So can anyone confirm the domain disappears from NL auction if it gets transfer out?

It will disappear if it sold on NL. Not sure of the precise details if it sold elsewhere. I believe they are (or were talking about) running checks to make sure that external domains were unlocked and have a valid authcode, and they would be flagged in some manner if that weren't the case. But I'm not sure if that is happening nor exactly what happens if the status changes. I recommend you contact Support or @DanSanchez ASAP.

I was just curious because I dont want to unlist domains at Afternic/Sedo just to place them on NL.

The domains are automatically removed if they are locked or the auth code is not valid. But it is not an instant change, it happens once daily. You are responsible for delivering the domains that sell on NL regardless of having them listed elsewhere. If it sells on NL, you will be expected to honor that domain.

If you sell a domain elsewhere, you are required to remove it from NL immediately to avoid non-deliveries.

Thanks @NicTraders =D

Nope, you can remove the domain even if there is a bid without contacting support inside your seller's panel.

The number of views is an option we are adding to the individual listing pages, the single best way to sell on NL is without a reserve. Not something we have there currently, the homepage will get you the best exposure. I recommend $32 reserves for 1-3yr old .COMs max.

$32 - I don't work that cheaply for anyone. LOL

If the domains don't sell they don't sell, but at least I (and hopefully others) will have learned from the experiment. (Also, it is totally impossible to categorise by the age of a domain its value.)

Sure, I understand that. Ultimately this isn't going to take too much time. The goal is 100% capital recovery and we've made it so easy to list and deliver that it doesn't compare to a manual forum liquidation.

The value and the age seldom have anything to do with a domain. BUT the age does add cost, and thus it may be better to yield than one that was just registered. I love aged stuff personally, but I sell more 1-5yr old domains than anything.

Well all 18 now in the last day of listing and not a single bid, even at the $69 reserve. Odds now seem stacked against any of the domains selling.

Perhaps all my hand reg'd domains are really that lousy! LOL

The $69 reserve suggestion will be deleted, it is not something I agree with at all. The data says new-regs will likely sell for $32 on the front page. You can leave them there for hours at high prices, but if the domain does not warrant the price, it will not sell by virtue of other (better) domains being available at lower prices.

I suggest you drop your reserves to no-reserve from the beginning and add a reserve that will return 100%+ of your capital expenses.

Thank you for your advice, but considering everything and having considered it, thought about it, came up with the answer. 'NO'.

I will let this experiment run it's course, but I think the system as set up is better suited to just 'drop domains' than actually live domains. The lack of any figures to work with reinforces this opinion. But you never know the next 23 hours might surprise us both, but I doubt it.

Totally understand, many sellers are experimenting with NL traffic because it is positioned so uniquely. The number of folks that would normally NEVER consider investing in domains, but joined NL to look for names is incredible. The impact is being seen in Bangladesh, India, and soon, Latin America. Our perception of value vs someone else from another side of the world can be wildly different.

Some sellers have dialed in the quality vs reserve number perfectly, and they are responsible for HUNDREDS of sales on the platform. The conversation will be interesting, I am hoping some of them want to do a short interview or conversation about their overall goals and approach.

Keep a close eye on the twitter and facebook pages. I am building a complete library of content just for NL.

Had an interesting idea....what about a seller profile page ( Maybe at nameliquidate.com/seller/(name) ). Where a seller could highlight their NL domains in one place. Probably would make the most sense as a per-domain opt-in option when adding the domain via NL/Epik/API you could choose to include it on your seller profile page. Then maybe link to it in your signature here, ect to increase exposure.

Another idea I had is to allow bids under the reserve (with a warning to the bidder) and at the end of 2 weeks if it does not sell at or above the reserve give the seller the choice to accept the highest bid that was received under the reserve.
