I think Epik is building the best ever Domain Lander in the history of domaining, and it really needs to be talked about extensively. That's why I am creating this discussion thread. A lot of thought process really goes into the project. And I can see (for the first time) a landing page that is built from the stand point of domainers rather than for just the marketplace itself.

Everything you have ever dreamt of getting or seeing in a professional landing page can be found in the new Epik marketplace landing page design.

Some of my Favorites Features:

1. The ability to optimize your "domain for sale" landing page to actually rank on Google, displaying your sales pitch/domain description. I just did that with few of my generic domain names such as ASAP.TV, targeting certain keywords, and they are showing pretty well on Google. That's a huge plus in my marketing effort.

2. Being able to change background image is another huge one for me. If you are good with pictures and images, you will surely find this very useful. I did that with Nagasaki.org and the result was truly amazing, showing the city of Nagasaki right at the background.

There are too many positive features and I don't want to mention all of them, all alone :xf.grin::xf.grin:

So I am leaving you guys to share and discuss what you loves most or dislike about the new Epik marketplace and the landing pages.

The only negative for me is the checkout process. There are too many terms and conditions buttons to tick before checking out. It will be nice if they can streamline those into one beautiful big button :xf.cool:

They also need to place the checkout button directly under the payment options. Right now it is awkwardly place somewhere below at the sidebar, which I don't find cool at all.

Sales experience is also welcomed in this discussion. I haven't had any sells so far at Epik because I started using the marketplace just recently, but the future is looking so bright.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Latest issue, I order 3 domains only 2 get registered. I contact support and they say I didn’t buy it and I should rebuy it. I have to send the receipt and prove my issue every single time. The support staff needs to be trained much much better. Few give the same answer or can fix a problem. The name in question is still unregistered an hour and change later.

Update: My domain I paid for yesterday was registered after 16 hours and me contacting them. I was told it was a “technical glitch”. Not something you look for in a registrar nor have encountered anywhere else.

why private message? He has stated the problem......what is the answer as I have had the same problem

I have pm'd Makise yesterday with specific examples, so hopefully they will resolve this for everyone. No reply so far, though.

Ugh. Let us know if you find out what the glitch was. I have experienced glitches with every registrar I've been with except Epik but I havent been with them long so its possible yet. Nothing is perfect, humans created it. :)

Have any members here made a sale via the Epik landing pages?
Curious as I'm going to take them for a test-drive with 1400 .COMs.

Yes.

I've been reading everyone serenades Epik and decided to test it myself.
It's been decent experience so far, I will be likely moving part of the portfolio here - support and prices are unbeatable.

As much as I love DAN landers - being also a registrar definitely adds Epik points - reg/transfer a name, enter price and it's listed via reasonably good landing page.

Them being like 'full-cycle' company is also great, you can literally do everything - one thing I dream to improve (and what will make it hands down the best place for my domains) is - Dropcatching.
I have hundreds of domains scattered around different registrars - from winning names at Dropcatch, SnapNames, Namejet and so forth.. If only Epik could somehow compete with those - will be the go to place for everything :droid: I know - probably won't happen as its technically difficult.

But that and site speed improvement (Dashboard is reaaaally slow) and this is my choice for future. 100%.

p.s. (well, it is already my choice (y), it's just I'm not yet bulk transfering-in, more like feedback)

There is a difference between these things:

Most clients have individual problems. They can't find something, they need help with domain transfer, domain registration, and so on. If the problem is universal, then I'm, Rob, Sufyan, and the techs will join in to solve it.

You can already backorder domains with Epik, and they do pretty well at catching. And you don't have to pay a heap. Just standard reg fee of $8.49 for a .com.

I know they do, the question is how they do it. I have never won a single attempt in maybe 20.. When there is a decent name - Dropcatch dominates everything, then comes Sav, Snap, Namejet.. Damn, even Dynadot beats them :) (I compared on rare names very I was likely the only person, Dyno/Epik 2:0).

What I'm saying is that if they could compete on higher level with top catchers it would be priceless - because I can manually catch weak/average names and I will definitely loose better ones with competition via Epik dropcatching - so in its current state it makes little sense (well, I guess hence the price, just +$0.5 on top of regular fee).

I thought I was clear about this in my previous message. Apparently - not.

Epik - its only one registrar
Dynadot - have 17 registrars

IKR.. Probably, this is exactly why I said what I said.

You people need to really start differentiate groundless critics and harmless wishes.. smh

Not sure if anyone else has said this but just wanted to give a quick note as to my experience transfering a name out of Epik.

Transfering names into Epik has been a breeze. I'm currently moving names from GD to Epik because of the pricing. When moving a name out of GD (as with any registrar) you need to request the auth code and submit it to the new registrar. Shortly after submitting the code you receive an email from GD alerting you that a transfer has been initiated and asking if this is a legitimate action. You can then challenge it, leave it and after 5 days the transfer will go ahead or you can sign into your GD account and approve the transfer and usually within 15 mins its all done and dusted and away you go to self isolate and socially distance.

Transfering away from Epik is slightly different. It took me a couple of days of messing around trying to get the auth code for a domain that sold at Afternic. This is because the domain was moved to Epik within the last 60 days. I had previously opted out of the ICANN 60 day transfer lock but I now know that Epik have their own internal lock (what's the point in having the opt out if there's another lock that does exactly the same thing). I submitted a customer support ticket asking how I can remove the lock and have never recieved any reply. I went onto the live chat at Epik.com and was told by the rep that they didn't have the power to lift the lock and that they would escalate the matter to management and email me with the solution. I never heard heard back from them.
The only way I manged to get the domain unlocked and get an auth code was by contacting @Gube on here. He was very helpfull and after I verified my Epik account he was able to unlock the name and email me an auth code.

Great I thought. Well after giving the code to Afternic TA rep I didn't hear anything for a few days. I assumed the transfer had not been initiated, after all it only takes 15 mins to move a name. I sent TA a few emails but never got any replys so namepros to the rescue again and I messaged Joe from Afternic who told me the transfer was initiated on the 7th. We'll that seem strange as I haven't had any notification from Epik.

Back to Epik live chat it is then where I'm told that yes the transfer has been initiated but it takes 5-7 days to transfer a name out! And no, they don't send you any email notification to confirm the transfer! So does the name just dissappear without notification? This doesn't seem very safe to me and agonisingly slow to move a name out when it took 15 mins to move in. The Swiss Bank of Domains? Legendary Customer Support? Maybe...

Anyway I know that was long winded but the moral of the story is you get nowhere in life unless you're a member of Namepros

Oh and its been 5 days and still no cigar.

Edit - It seems you can go into your account and view the domains being transferred out and approve them although I couldn't find this area to start with and when I approved the transfer it can up with an error so...

Edit 2 - Since this post @Jess Robison has been very helpfull and completed the transfer for me. I just hope this customer service stretches to people who aren't on NP as I fear Joe Public would be stuck.
Just wanted to update this.

It seems some changes have been made for the better (or it's just working properly for me now). Having sold another name that was at Epik I needed to transfer it to another registrar. This name I was able to unlock with ease, I recieved an authorisation email from Epik when the buyer initiated the transfer and when I signed into my Epik account there was a transfer request notice right at the top of the page (as I had previously suggested there should be) where I was able to click "accept" and then click an "are you sure" accept to rule out any accidental transfer.

All in all a great improvement.

Is it possible that currently there is an issue with respect to registration of (at least) .xyz names? It seems various names I look for are all listed as backorder (as though registered) but even Epik's own Whois says they are not registered, and the same names I can go to various other registrars and they show them as available to hand register (but I would prefer to register this at Epik :xf.smile:). I just tried a few names, but thought I would alert in case a bug of some kind. I had no problem registering an .xyz at Epik just a few days ago, so seems something new.
Bob

PS I don't want to publicly post the one I am trying to register :xf.wink: but for example if you try to register: isthisnamereallyregisteredhuh.xyz which I am pretty sure is available :xf.rolleyes: it tells me the option is to backorder it. Thanks for any help.

EDIT: it is not just .xyz. I get same thing after logging out and in with .best and .online and I suspect many other extensions, but many others work including .life, .world, .co, .org, .net and .com.

Confirm I get the same with a random gibberish xyz domain.

Almost certainly either a bug, works as expected at another registrar. Hope you let Epik support know so they can get on fixing this.

Guys, is Epik down? Can you access it? More than an hour and I am not able to access it.

I just bought a marketplace domain there, and my domain portfolio all show up. Seems fine for me (in western Canada).

Epik page seems to be timing out. Yesterday afternoon strangely the password prompt told me incorrect password, although pretty sure I entered credentials right, and double checked entering 2nd time. Today managed to chat with customer service briefly, but now the page is totally out, can't even access the homepage. Logging from Europe here.

Can I trigger a registrar read without having to delete and add the domain again? After I moved a domain from one external registrar to another external registrar, the Domain Manager is left with the old expiry date, from previous registrar, and some marketplace menus are consequently grayed out.

Yesterday, June 3, none of my domains recorded any google analytics visits between the following times 2020-06-03_0946 and 2020-06-03_1604 and which is very odd since my history has shown consistent visits through out the day so something definitely happened.

Since the dropcatch thread was closed I think this one is the right place to ask.

I just backordered a .org and this is what my order confirmation states:
Domain Date Expected Drop Date Escrow Deposit Position
XXXX.org 06/08/2020 06/05/2021 $8.49 1

In my backorder overview the availability date states N/A and the name is dropping in a couple of days. Anybody else having the same experience on .org backorders?

On my last .org backorder I watched it drop myself, they missed it and I handregged it myself (also at epik). I don't expect too much competition but as I will be away during the drop window I would hate it if they missed it, it becomes available and someone else handregs it.

Yeah, I wonder why they take backorders on many different extensions if they only catch com and net, all the rest just hangs with N/A until you cancel.

Thanks for that. I think they mentioned they had some technical issues last time. Since I'm not the only one with this issue I think I'll just place some additional backorders at other dropcatchers in case my bot doesnt catch it.

So I decided to contact support. They're unaware of any backorder issues. Took them long enough to tell me that. About half an hour. I'm not convinced.
