every domain is unique one-of-a-kind and has to be to function as an address

it is the VALUE which is rare - google.com is most rare now, in that sense...

Now I'm pissed I didn't hand-reg rarest.ca a couple years back..would have been so rare. Was on my list, but I rarely check it.

Jokes apart, I would consider Home.com, House.com as one of the rarest, and so would I consider popular one words like Hosting.com, Cloud.com, etc. because they are present as keywords in thousands of other domains.

If you own one, you are a category killer? I consider those rarest .com, and while the reader might disagree, that's my definition of rare and rarest, probably subjective?

I think .arpa areas are really uncommon. Additionally .int. Not certain which ones are rarer.

All I keep on doing when reading this thread is see 'Black Adder' commenting on how rare something is.

(For those not familiar with the Blackadder TV series it was a satirical look at different parts of UK history that ended in one of the most poignant moments in comedy tv history when Captain Blackadder led his men out of the trenches and 'over the top' during WWI and the sound of German machine guns opening up on them …. then the scene changes to a field of red poppies.)

Anyway, Blackadder in all the series was a scurrilous well off chancer who constantly undermined ideas of his constant two fellows (sidekicks) in the series. (If you haven't watched it catch it on YouTube, I am sure it will give most of you a good laugh.) Also co-starred Hugh Laurie (perhaps these days better known for portraying the main character in the medical series 'House').

No, but you can call it limited edition (limit of 1).

I own niv.vin which I think can be considered rare as there is only 1 full-palindrome domain per extension.
