Hello, short story - I registered acronym of currently top polical power in my country (all I can say is that I am from europe), they already have a website with the same acronym in latin alphabet letters, but mine domain has one different letter which is specific from my country alphabet (let's say there is letter Z so it would be Ž in this case).

So I came up with the idea to contact them and see what might happen.

I first contacted them during 2019 april and asked them if they would show some interest in the name I own. To which they replied that they are planning to update the official website and asked for my contact details. I gave them my e-mail and facebook account url.

Months passed by but I was not contacted by anyone.

I was stubborn enough to give them a quick shout out on facebook on 2019 may (I got no response), then on 2019 september (still no response) and the last time I rang a bell was on 2019 november. Got no responses.

I decided to give it a last shot and contacted them again on 2020 february 3 and once again asked about the need of the domain. They replied that after weekly political party meet a specific person would contact me. A day or so later they contacted my again and asked why did I regged the name at all? To which I replied that I was planning to run a blog but decided not to and I noticed that my picked letters resembles the politcal party name (for example. political party acronym is ABCZ and mine is ABCŽ, and Ž stands for specific national word that stands in the name of political party).

Today I was finally contacted by the mentioned specific person (sorry for using the word SPECIFIC, my english vocabulary is kinda limited) and she wrote me a message like this:

- Hi. I am writing to you about ABCŽ.XX . What are the terms and how will you gift us this 🙂?

By "gift" you should understand that the person meant a way to give something for free, like a donation or something.

Now I am sitting here and thinking abouta few points:

1. The number 1. political party during the meeting discussed the idea of aquiring mine domain name (I am 100 percent it is because of national/patriotic reason. Mine adress looks more national) and later on, like 10 months later, they contacted my.

2. There is a strange vibe in the response from specific person, who is given official role of public relations consultant at the mentioned political party. Why is it strange? Firstly, they are asking my terms on this case. Secondly, they end up the message with the idea of getting the name for free? huh?

3. I am not sure in what way or how a political power can spend money on things like domain names, websites designs and so on, but I know that the leader of party is a multimillionaire.

I only had one or two sales in my domain history, since I never aimed for sales and I've never had much of names. And the one name that I remember correctly (theroyal.family) was sold for like ~150 usd, so I have nearly zero experience with situations like this.

Looking forward for each recommendation and advice.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Sounds like one of many pitfalls and awkward possibilities when contacting potential end user on social media (multiple times) Next time, send one email with one link to a buy it now page. I would go silent and just put it on a lander. If it has no other potential use you have kind of backed yourself into a corner.

If you just want to get rid of it quote a low reasonable price. You don’t give domains away but you can accommodate them for XXX. Never answer personal questions like why you bought it etc. Keep your correspondence short and business only.

Damn, I feel it didn't end profitably. Any news about it?

I wonder if they would be more willing to pay for the name if the opposing party was interested in acquiring it, or if it was redirected to the opposing party's platform page?

They consider it a favour or, bribe to them from the wording of their message. I don't think they are even interested in paying money for it. Its very rare for pol organisations to buy stuff, they are gifted/bribed rather ;)

Be creative and ask for whatever favor you want ;) Pick the right terms

cheers

Ignore a gift part, as that might have been a tongue in the cheek type of thing there and quote a reasonable amount, maybe in $500 to $1500 range.

I have a few uk political domains and matching ig usernames offered to give them free ( as I voted for them ) to the party / politicians and got no reply. Not sure what to think other than they don't care or bother to read their emails / dms.
