Hi

No offense intended at all I just want to make sure I am making the right choice.
I want to buy from justdropped but I don't get why people aren't buying them all from his list straight away.
Is there something Im missing?

for example swoddo/com he says its worth $2,000 but why has no one bought it yet then if hes selling for $70.
Am I totally missing something or do you think it's a good idea if I buy that domain ?

thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Because there are cheaper options out there and that site is relatively new. Why is he charging $70 for a made up brandable you could hand register? Has he caught it? That is a sale not a dropcatch. Even the $59 backorder you can do better at many places and the same price at long established catching services.

Welcome to nps...there is a lot of information on this site and you should spend many hours reading, learning and taking notes before investing.

If you want to buy from that site, go ahead. Just do research on a name and determine it is worth whatever the charge is. What another person (or bot) says a name is worth is their reality...you have to learn to develop your own method of valuation. NEVER rely on what someone other than a seasoned broker says a name is worth...odds are he/she wont be 'right' either.

Thousands of names drop every day...if you are willing to spend more that $25 for a name, learn how to use the auction platforms and look for a gem or two there...just don't get caught up in the bidding war syndrome...determine a price and stick to it...other names will be available tomorrow.

Swoddo is not worth $70 let alone 2000$
Dont believe what people tell you when their trying to sell you. Something

That is really confusing for me. Ok thank you.

what about if he says Estinbot estimates it at $2k-2.5k ? But selling for $70
can I trust that? for example wireshielding/com ? And should i just jump in!

Ok thank you. I guess i just don’t understand why others haven’t jumped into it straight away esp if estibot says $2.5k

quick Q do i have to park the domain in order for it to reach $2k?

This is a classic example of estibot making people think they can print money.

The name can cost $70, be worth $2000, but you still need to find somebody to pay $2000. That's the missing puzzle piece.

As Samer said, definitely don't put 100% stock into estimate tools.

Put 1% trust, if you must.

MOST LIKELY, most of the time, most names don't sell. It's just a fact. Put whatever estimate you want, most domain names will never sell. The majority will sit there racking up registration fees. For $70, you can pay those registration fees instead of justdropped, for a chance at selling it for more if it's one of the VERY RARE names to ever sell.

The estimates are based on whatever algo that takes a lot of different things into account, but they won't actually find you a buyer.

You would be betting $70 + $10 each year that a company is going to come along and want to call themselves swoddo SO BADLY that they'd pay you $2000 for that privilege, without just registering something like swaddot or sueddo or swohdo, etc etc for $10 instead.

I think of names like this as lottery ticket names. They don't really have any inherent value like other names do, resellers aren't really going to flock to them to bail you out if you can't sell it, etc. It's entirely possible that someone comes along some day and just NEEDS this name so badly, but what are the odds? Pretty low. Pretty, pretty low.

I would recommend doing many hours of research before you start investing in domains. I buy domains occasionally from Dan at justdropped.com. Sometimes you can find some great deals, but you need to understand the related niche and market before you invest in a domain.

Domain valuation estimate sites are one of many factors that can help you determine whether a domain has potential or not, but the actual dollar figure is pretty much meaningless.

Here is a good example that illustrates the randomness of domain appraisal sites.
Estibot values cbdoil.com at less than $100. GoDaddy estimates the value at $22,736. All appraisals need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Going with the "grain of salt" theme.

@karmaco Justdropped.com is not new... The site has been online since 2002. I think our newsletter is one of the longest running and consistent in the space.
