Richard Kirkendall founded Namecheap in 2000 and is the CEO since then. The company is providing domain name registration, hosting packages and other services.

Namecheap has reached 10 million domain names on September 5, 2018. The company announced its “unstoppable growth” with a blog post.

Namecheap says its priority is privacy, freedom of speech and net neutrality. For this purpose, the company hosts Move Your Domain Name Day (MYDD) every year and donate the funds raised to Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF).

I find that hard to belive with headlines like this: "Namecheap blocks registration of domains with 'coronavirus' and 'vaccine' in the name"

Hardly an action of a registrar who supports freedom of speech. More like authoritarian censorship. I for one don't have or want any such names but its not the job of a registrar to say what terms can and cannot be registered.

You do not have option to download your list of domain names. You need to contact their Support, then they will send you the list. Why? Why don't the owner of the domain names have the right to download them, why they need to request with the Support? These are petty issues that NameCheap should consider easing their rigid control.

Namecheap has Fast Transfer. They are on Afternic's network.

I will never use them again. Have some domains there but will move them if I can ever get into my account again.

BE WARNED. If your 2 factor gets messed up because of a theft or something then you are LOCKED OUT for good it seems.

They got

1. replies from my regd email,
2. name of a domain I own there
3. reference number of a purchase with them
4. last 4 digts of credit card used with them (now stolen)
5. my mobile numer
6. explanation the my phone and cc had been stolen (it was in the wallet of the phone)

Now they want the expiration date of that credit card. Was a few months ago since that was deregistered.

This is idiotic.

Update half another day later...

"We are forwarding this support request to the Risk Management team for further assistance. They have alternative methods of verification and will be happy to help you."

I hope they realise that my old school teachers are probably all dead by now. I mean they were old already when I was at school.

I like NameCheap on some things but they are the only registrar I deal with that is useless on any mobile device. Search doesn’t work, manage my names doesn’t work, change severs, see all my names etc. when is this going to get fixed?

I have namecheap app and i can change dns, see my names, make purchases
So download app and its fixed. namecheap is awesome, i always get great support from them. NS update fast.
