Hi,

Just curious on how many bad domains people let go there domains with out renewing or not selling for $1. How many years do you keep?

Getting the balance right is difficult process as we assume we all have good domains names for years which do not sell then all of a sudden out of the blue they surprise you.

I suppose it part of domaining finding the most perfect match.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You just have to find a balance that provides cash flow, can pay for renewals, and turn a profit.

It is not easy.

Please.

Is Buy-Turtles-In-Dallas-Today.mobi a bad domain? I would say objectively that is a bad domain.

There are certainly endless bad domains when it comes to investments.

Surely everybody knows that the following is a much better example:

Buy-Turtles-in-Dallas.Today

Only three hyphens and .today is way better than .mobi

Two wrongs don't make a right. Both names are bad. From domaining point of view and IMHO.

I see potential. What if you were a clothing company in Dallas that sold Turtle Neck jumpers.

Now, you've doubled your potential end-users.

See, you have to think outside the shop.

I have a 100% STR with .mobi

Bought one for abound $100, and sold it for $999 a year or two later.

It was a 3 digit domain. And it was/is the best combination of 3 digits possible.

And yes, it started with a 4. And the other two numbers are less than 4.

Though, the .mobi hasn't been developed, nor does it redirect anywhere. No idea who or why the buyer bought it.

I spent thousands before learned anything you could just read before hand.

I only ever registered 1 .mobi too and it was a NNN. sold for a profit way back. Congrats on your sale.

Poor .MOBI. They were visionaries, and their premise was exactly right -- the web was going mobile and most websites would need to be accessed on a mobile device. That's where we are at today. We just didn't need a segregated TLD to do it.
