Don't show sellers' info to buyer before payment PERIOD !

It is extremely unfair , invites fake offers, is against privacy and gdpr.

Whoever cheats, should "lose information", cheaters should be punished, not victims!

Buyer can say, people from that country can't take legal action against me, and I don't that like that country, or I learned name of the seller and this was my real purpose; and not pay.

Any dirty games before payment shouldn't be allowed. Payment is proof of sincereness

I blame sedo and dan, but maybe afternic is the same, if so I blame them as well.

...........
And what I don't like about afternic: We don't know if price requests are real or fake. I believe most are fake. If not, I suspect, when an offer is made it is not transferred to seller in real time, and appears as a lower offer elsewhere. Otherwise, why completely hide price requesters.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
As Individual (Natural Person) - I'm not obliged to provide any Invoices.
And all such invoice requests on Sedo - I ignore. Never had the failed sales due to this factor.

there are 3 ways to do it

I prefer the afternic way

afternic buys the domain from you
and sells it to the customer

you don't get the details of the customer
and they most likely not yours

As a german seller I can quote a price not including 19% VAT

that looks nearly 20% cheaper as at sedo
where the displayed price is including the VAT

dan does it right they show both prices
in case of "make offer"
they add the VAT later on

I sell tons after Afternic price requests.

DAN has a lot of fake offerors.

Sedo I’ve had a buyer not pay but he wasn’t fake just a welsher.

I agree with this. Dan is the one who gets paid. Then we get paid by Dan. So, the invoices should reflect that
Good morning @FolioTeam,

There is one distinct difference that is being left out when it comes to our invoices. As a seller, you have access to the invoice at all times. As a buyer, the invoice is only delivered once payment is made or when a requests our support to make a bank transfer. As we are the mediating company we are legally not permitted to present ourselves as the selling entity. As described by @krishmk, the agreement is between the buyer and the seller and we merely serve as a holding account.

Hoping this shines some light on the situation.

Have a great week all.

Hi TopDom,

The reason why we provide buyers with an invoice is because we legally are obliged to do so. Also, about 23% of all domain buyers at DAN won't be able to purchase a domain if they do not get an invoice upfront.

The finance departments of medium-sized businesses and enterprises all require an invoice upfront before they can send a bank wire. Without an invoice, they will not are cannot purchase your domains.

If you're a domain seller that's in the market to sell domains and want to make it easier for buyers to pay instead of harder then you shouldn't want to change this process.

If you want to enjoy greater privacy, simply set up a company and sell as a business instead of an individual.

Kind regards,

Dan

Please correct me if I am mistaken:
Escrow.com service provide invoices with only Escrow.com details & bank account no. And Escrow is doing business for long time with no problem. Thus I don't see any valid point in showing up seller's info upfront.

With the Dan 2.0 update, we've changed our entire checkout and automatically issue payment instructions without showing any information of the seller on the "preliminary invoice". Buyers do get an invoice after the transaction is completed and that's mandatory.

Having said that, sellers have full control over the information shown on the invoices we generate.

I have a sold domain pending payment at Dan and I just downloaded the "Buyer's Invoice", all my details are showing in the invoice although buyer didn't pay yet.

@LaszloSchenk has clarified it up there. As a seller, you have access to the invoice at all times but for the buyer, the invoice is only delivered once payment is made or when he/she requests from DAN support to make a bank transfer.

Indeed, however, this part "when he/she requests from DAN support to make a bank transfer." we do not do anymore due to the introduction of payment instructions for buyers. Buyers can now without getting the final invoice already pay for the domain.

Only you, the seller, sees those invoices as they are generated once there's a legal agreement formed. The buyer sees/gets the Buyer invoice after payment. The buyer invoice is the official invoice given to the buyer on behalf of the seller.
