The appraisals are worse than the name. People forget that they were all beginners & made similar mistakes, if not worse.

@Mekason misspelt two word domains are not a good idea, especially in this case, a hot niche, & I think the real thing just sold for a lot of money.

It's not a brandable either.

You have to make mistakes to learn, you don't learn by reading alone. Make sure the mistakes aren't expensive.

Good luck

Thanks a lot. This definitely makes sense to me now all the more.
Of course that's why we are a community here, to learn from each other.
Thanks again and STAY SAFE

Nobody is going to misspell 'Electric' either as a generic OR want to as a branding.
No Value.

I’m with the crowd, slam the brakes on the car idea -- but -- I have good news. Reccar is a surname so all you need is a Reccar to run for political office. If you pivot in that direction, consider grabbing votereccar.com and reccar2020.com. Hold off on bumper stickers, lawn signs and bobbleheads for now, good luck!

Thanks ecalc, I love your idea. Hopefully, whether a "Reccar" runs or not; a lesson is learnt from your post. That is - there is always two sides to every coin.
Definitely am better informed now. thanks a Lot

This is my 3rd week in this industry although I'm in digital sales for the last 14 years but i literally had no idea domain business is a big thing until during lock down i started to read some articles and then looked at some big sales i thought i should give it a try and see how it goes.

it is very addictive and you learn by time, only few are there who will help you. in my case no one actually told me to join this industry as everyone want to keep it to themselves so I'm glad you entered into domain industry.

What I have learnt by myself and from the trend, only one guy helped me recently on twitter with some ideas his name is Arif Arafat Rusho the only one who actually give me a little tip.

I'm typing down what I have learnt and understood so far, I'm sure it will help you and many newbees just like me who have recently got into this industry.

do not spend your saving/hard earned money in domain that doesn't make any sense.
Don't weigh too much on hand register domain until they are unique and available.
Do not buy badly typo domains.
Do not buy 3 word domain until they make valuable sense.
Do not waste a lot of your money other then .com (except if they are 3L, 4L, 4N, 3N domain)
Do not buy domains with hyphen except they are again unique ones i.e. e-car. com
Read magazines, follow trends in different industry and grab what you think will be gems in coming future.
Don't ask guys to appraise your domain, think of yourself if they are really good than ask others what do they think of your domain.
Try to buy domains from marketplace, rather hand register them (except if still good ones are available)
Keep it short and to the point.
Keep your gems with you as 1000s are out there who knows you have a gem or gems but you yourself do not know the value and they will grab it once they expired.

Last but not least, sky is the limit in this industry wish you best of luck.

I'm into 3rd in this industry spent about 1000$ and i can fairly say i have about 8 to 10 gems in my excel file. (you are the only one who knows the value of your property)

NamePros: People in here are amazing, you will learn a lot from them.

Am sincerely grateful for your effort to type this candid advice. Truly, many members here know this but only quite a few are willing to share.
I have taken note of these, and we hope to be better today than we were yesterday.
thanks and STAY SAFE
