Yes dot fun launched today, general availability - came out with a bit of a whimper. But I thought I would raise its profile with 'whats your best dot Fun names'.
I searched for words ending in F U N and there is none except for fun. So no word hacks.

No.Fun

Nice!

If you like that saw these.

Sativa.fun
Indica.fun

Still tons of generic 3L .Fun available .And 4L's.

seems as though one of my Countrymen took my suggestion and regged Sativa.fun and Indica.fun!

Congrats! in hindsight maybe I shouldn't have given up that info freely. but glad to help. lol Good luck! Pare!

redefine.fun

Hoping to use it with subdomains to make phrases for our Rent an Expression, like we.redefine.fun or Canadians.redefine.fun. Just bought it a bit ago.

I just noticed a huge sale of a .fun domain name on NameBio. Have (fun) sold for $11,500 at Sedo this week. Although there have been a few dozen sales in extension this year, all others were in $$$ range.

Jeez! Thats all?? Thats like the best name possible in .fun! So as of right now that is the cap of .fun. Thats CRAP.

That name is worth more, and NGTLDs as a whole (the good names) are worth more! Hold the GD names! HOLD THEM!!

I don;'t disagree @Grego85 although when renewals are at premium rates there is a big incentive to find a buyer in first year.

Thats like the best name possible in .fun!

It is clearly a very good name, although I would argue there are many sort of similarly good names, such as More, Find, Great, Best, etc. in the .fun extension! (the ones I checked are all high premium prices and renewals though :xf.frown:).

I got booty.fun and cameltoes.fun. I know, I know, you guys think the singular is better. Not from a development standpoint.

Agreed, 100% spot on.

Cameltoe would lead visitors to believe there is only ONE cameltoe on your site, and that's quite limiting - it's hard to build a business around one cameltoe.

Cameltoes, on the other hand, lets them know there are at least two cameltoes available on this domain, and quite possibly more. How many more? Visit, and find out!

I like it, really clever marketing. It inspires the click.

That's right! I'll build my brand around booty fun. And, then I'll use cameltoes.fun to build a social media portal for fans of camel toes world wide.

In his nice analysis of the TLDs chosen by startups in the first part of 2020 James mentioned that one used a .fun TLD. While not surprised that a few (he found 10%) are using new extensions (mainly .app), I was surprised that a business would use .fun for their main name. I see a minor place for the extension, but more in the non-business market or for marketing campaigns for a business, rather than as the primary name.

I let a few .fun drop, and only have several .fun currently, my favourites are wildly .fun and voila .fun (latter for a magician entertainer). I also have claims .fun that I have a little development idea for, but odds are I will never get around to it :xf.eek:. I don't think I ever had more than 10 .fun even at peak, and have not sold any for anything significant.

It is still a fun extension to imagine phrases around.

Bob

PS It is fun to see what the registry thinks your name is worth as a premium. For Bob .fun, they say $1000 wholesale, and many names are at that, or taken. However, if there is a Krista reading this, you can apparently get yours for standard reg fee. I left it for you.

I once was 100% "all in" with .fun domains mainly because of the super cheap first year reg. after that just dumped them all and some were pretty good for travel niche too. I had exact match names for countries even continents.

the problem with these new extensions is that before they even become anything.

The pros just poo poo's on them harshly before they can really be anything.

These pros really have the power to make or break a NGTLD's. People just lose confidence in them if the pros make a neg comment.

to the point where regular people like most of us can't even sell a .fun for $100 retail much less wholesale.

And the newbies and the "not so pro" yet domainers just follow what the pros recommend or in this case NOT RECOMMENDS.
