So many agitators from all sides.

-------------------

@Samer - your favorite basketball player:

Just say it for what it is;

Smith beat up protestor vandalized his car.
“Smith explained the attack emotional video --"one of motherfu**king white boys didn't know where he was going and broke my f**king window in my truck."

Smith says his truck was parked in a residential area -- away from stores looted.

We're told the incident took place around Fairfax area -- near the famous Flight Club sneaker shop, which had just been looted.

"I chased him down and whooped his ass," Smith said.

Smith says the incident was NOT fueled by race or hatred -- it was simply revenge for messing with his truck.

"He didn't know whose window he broke and he got his ass whooped."

Again, statistics. Something like 45% of all males will be arrested at some time in their life.

This is a bogus number.

Also, the US has more people per capita in prison than just about any other country in the world, democratic or not. If you want to go the anecdotal route, people openly talk about being arrested, are even proud of it if it's at a demonstration. Like it's a game. That's a very bad precedent.

True. But we're also the most free.

If people in Japan seem obedient, it's not out of deference to the police or politicians, it's out of deference to society - to other people. There are plusses and minuses to that, but it shows that police are not needed to keep order. If a society relies on police and force to keep order, you will get exactly what they have in Minneapolis.

So they're not sheep, just polite deference to power.

Obviously, I know both countries and have chosen one over the other for various reasons. No place is perfect, and people are free to choose for themselves. But the USA is the only country I know where people constantly repeat this myth that they are the "land of the free," despite abundant evidence to the contrary. I wish more people would wake up, and maybe put some meaning back into those words.

I'd like to see you buy a gun in Japan or defend your property in the UK.

Protesters and cops are just north of us, at the mall.
All wally worlds in the Des Moines metroplex are boarded up and closed.
Along with Target and Kohl's.
Plus a lot of stores on Merle Hay are closed....
Oh, Merle Hay is like 3 blocks or so east of us.
There is a possibility that even the grocery stores may shut down.

Here is another way of looking at that:

Number of violent incidents against whites - 3,581,360

offender:
white - 62.1%
black - 15.3%
hispanic - 10.2%
asian - 2.2%
other - 8.1%
various - 2.1%

So whites are 4x more likely to have a violent crime committed against them from somebody else white, than black

https://www.bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/cv18.pdf

But not shocking you post stuff like that.

Here in Orlando, protestors flipped over the courthouse. It's getting crazy, I'm staying inside watching movies:

This is a bogus number.

Unfortunately, it's not. Here's another link showing that 9% of all American men will end up in prison at some point in their lives. https://bjs.gov/content/pub/pdf/Llgsfp.pdf

But we're also the most free.

I was brought up to believe that too. It obviously has no basis in fact.

I'd like to see you buy a gun in Japan or defend your property in the UK.

Funny you mention that, as I looked into taking up hunting here. Lots of deer and wild boar - easy pickings. Unfortunately, for the first 10 years of hunting, I would be confined to a single shot shotgun. And it's a pain in the ass to keep the gun. But doable.

But you are right, gun rights is one of the very few areas where Americans are actually freer than most countries. If gun ownership is at the top of your list, the USA is good place for you. If you want to be free to invest your money in start-ups, though, you are out of luck unless you can get on an approved investors list. The government wants to protect you from bad investment decisions. But you are welcome to buy as many lottery tickets as you want! I can drink a beer on the street or on a beach without worrying about going to jail or getting roughed up by a cop. If I decide to leave Japan, I will just say goodbye and they won't insist on subtracting a large chunk of my wealth before I am permitted to leave, or try to tax my kids worldwide even if they never live a day as adults in Japan. I don't have to worry about Japanese police marching up my street and shooting rubber bullets at me for standing in front of my house. I don't have to pay thousands of dollars in licenses and regulatory compliance if I want to open a small cafe. (I think it was JB's friend who once Googled to show me I am wrong in this, even though I have helped open such shops at least a half dozen times. That's what happens when people rely on Google.)

I am not saying this stuff because I hate the US. I grew up there, and the country once was special. I am saddened and angered to see Americans swallow all the BS they are fed about being free without ever considering how little freedom they actually do have. I wish Americans would take the country back from thugs and criminals, whether they wear Antifa colors, wear blue uniforms, work for the CIA, or live in Washington, DC. The country is divided because people swallow all the BS they are fed.

And, sorry, but it's shocking beyond belief to me that police could storm down a residential street happily shooting people for standing on their front porch - and people accept it! I am sure there are many countries where the police behave as thugs at times. But I can't think of any other country where people are happy about it.

These riots are inevitable. Probably just as inevitable that the younger generation will vote in real fascist before too long. I hate seeing a great country, the place of my birth no less, destroy itself.

I have actually talked to people here (lots of loony lefties move to Japan for some reason) who really believe that the riots are all white supremacists trying to make Antifa fascists and black people look bad. I mean, what can you say to such craziness?

Yes, we did talk about Asia's issues with licenses and regulatory compliance, and look what happened. Maybe you should care more about health, food handling etc. I think you've lived in such an oppressive society for so long, you forgot what it is to be free and think 99% conviction rate is normal.

Just out of curiosity:

"and the country once was special."

What years were those? Trump said the same thing, make America great again but never defined when again was.
