I just got an email through from an affiliate partner Proton VPN about the sudden rise see in Hong Kong due to the changes announced by the Chinese government last week, What are your thoughts, do you use a VPN? have you ever invested in VPN domain names?

Following the initial spike in users on Thursday, total users over the subsequent four days have been far higher than would normally be expected over a similar period of time. ProtonVPN’s app also reached 3rd place on the Hong Kong app store. Visitors to ProtonMail also increased by 40% between Thursday and Saturday...

VPN business is still not that profitable, with lot of competition. I don't think these companies will be willing to spend so much (upfront) on a domain name!

Also I guess majority of these users go with the Free Plan of ProtonVPN like me. You see where the profits are going -- in legal costs (often hackers & criminals use it for bad purposes) and server maintenance, so many servers and infrastructure + development costs a lot.
