Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

MARCH 26, 2020 - Anthony Fauci MD writes to his colleagues...
Each time you post this same information (What is it, at least 4 times now if not more?), you once again demonstrate your lack of reading skills, lack of critical thinking abilities, lack of adaptability, as well as your obsessiveness nature.

Unlike you, Dr Fauci has demonstrated his intellectual skills by being open to and able to process new information and new data. He has then taken that new information on Covid-19 and has adapted his thinking and updated his recommendations on how to deal with it.

For (deity) sake!

You obviously STILL HAVE NOT fully read or understood the editorial, STILL HAVE NOT read or understood the reference sources and data, STILL HAVE NOT put it in the context of an evolving infection, are STILL NOT capable of understanding that this is a fluid situation and are STILL NOT capable of understanding that additional data and information changes the understanding of the problem, the issues and the projections - AND it will continue to do so as time passes!

Current Covid19 death numbers as of 9:00 am EST are below, primarily from the source in the original post (https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus). If your country of interest is not listed below, simply go to the link to do a search for relevant information.

As I posted a while ago, Brazil would become active with infections...mass graves are being dug in several cities as indicated by recent drone footage. All of Central America will likely experience similar surges like those in Brazil and Mexico (numbers could be double of what are currently being reported).

Total: 340,590
United States: 97,686
United Kingdom: 36,393
Canada: 6,250
Mexico: 6,989
Brazil: 21,145
Russia: 3,388
India: 3,754
Indonesia: 1,351
Italy: 32,616
Spain: 28,628
France: 28,289
Netherlands: 5,811

Lots of misinformation and disinformation floating around out there. All it takes is a basic understanding of the English language and rudimentary reading skills to see that covid19 takes a toll on all ages. New syndromes are emerging in the very young and now there are conditions arising in 20 somethings. Yes, those with preexisting conditions and/or those over 75 are those being hit hardest...but is anyone too healthy to get it? I think not. (data below is from New York City and provided by the site in my daily updates)

0 - 17 years old 0.06%
18 - 44 years old 3.9%
45 - 64 years old 22.4%
65 - 74 years old 24.9%
75+ years old 48.7%

Be smart this holiday weekend folks. Regardless of the side of the fence you sit on with respect to this issue, it would be sad for us all if a long time poster here suddenly goes off line, never to post again.

Thank you to those that served in our military (and their loved ones) and made the ultimate sacrifice. RIP Jimmy, as a pilot in the US Marines you lost your life in service...I did the best I could in helping to raise your children...they have become amazing young adults and give back to America and the world in all they do in their humanitarian works.

Thank you especially to those that served in WW2. We lose too many of you daily...you saved the world from a demon with your selfless efforts...I hope we never let you down.

I stopped watching CNN when I caught them lying.

I'm with J Sokol - what was the lie that made such a decision happen.

In other words.. until there's a solution for all this mess, better wear a mask (preferably a good one) everywhere out of home.

I see people driving around by themselves and wearing a mask - I don't see that as necessary. But after this weekend, I could see infection #s climbing again. Probably wouldn't hurt to start being more vigilant, till enough people 'get it'. If that will ever really happen.

Wish I had a little more time now to go into detail (may do so later) but based on observations I made in person yesterday and via live video feeds, my prediction for total deaths in US has to be moved higher. Earlier I said 150K by August 1st or shortly thereafter...now I will add 15K for a total of 165,000...again, hope I am wrong.

And that's without counting the possible, but not desirable in any case, second wave of this autumn-winter.
Hopefully the vaccine will be ready in a record time and disposable by the start of the winter...

Brazil becomes a global epicentre for COVID-19

"In Manaus, the largest city in the Amazon rainforest, the mayor is warning that Indigenous tribes will be decimated by the coronavirus. Amazonas state, where Manaus is located, is one of the hardest hit regions of the country.

"I fear genocide and I want to denounce this thing to the whole world. We have here a government that does not care about the lives of the Indians, Manaus Mayor Arthur Virgilio Neto said."

That number and that date Aug 1 shortly after, aka Aug 4, matches the data of the site in your sig. The predicted number was for Aug 4.

I actually posted about it in the other thread 11 days ago, about the numbers going back up, based on that site. So it's that site's prediction:

https://covid19.healthdata.org/united-states-of-america

It was over 100,000, went down to 60,000 but because we're opening up too soon, it now shot back up to 147,040. Behavior changes, forecast changes.

Best thing Fauci did right was go all-out and prevent deployment of US “herd immunity”...

Can you imagine how much higher US’d be?

Right now, US death toll is close 100K.

Fascinating i learned “herd immunity” from it lol

Wow...just got informed that the only person I ignore is responding to my posts. I'm not going to unblock that person anytime soon to see what he/she is saying as I don't have time to waste. Hopefully he/she is contributing constructively to the thread. I assume he/she will report what I have said and this post will get removed. Thanks to all of you that are contributing useful information and observations.

Moving on...one of the golf courses at which I play regularly has an outbreak and now almost half of the inside and outside staff are on quarantine. I helped out today (went there to play a couple rounds this am) in the closing of the course and getting those that were loitering in the parking lot to leave.

One of the owners is included in the bunch I had to move along...he would never sanitize the steering wheel of the cart when he started a round...he felt it (pandemic) was all made up. Three days ago he bloviated about how even a person being killed by a shark would counted as a covid19 death. Today, when he learned that 6 people had to quarantine, I saw him return his cart to the shed...before he finished his round. He is a big gambler and is always trying to bet me on a golf shot or score. As he got into his car I asked him if he wanted to bet on whether or not he would test positive tomorrow morning...I did not get an answer before he slammed his door. Ignorance is truly bliss.

Uncertain Results in Study of Convalescent Serum for Covid-19

A small study of patients who were severely ill from the coronavirus hints that treatment with antibodies from recovered patients may modestly help recovery and survival, scientists reported on Friday.

The death rates were 12.8 percent among those who got the antibodies, compared with 24.4 percent among the patients who did not get this treatment. The researchers provided percentages but not actual numbers of patients.

The only way to know for sure if the treatment works is to randomly assign patients to receive antibodies or a placebo.

And it can be impossible to find many patients who agree to have their treatment randomized to an unknown treatment, noted Dr. Arturo Casadevall of the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Baltimore.

Federal Scientists Finally Publish Remdesivir Data

Nearly a month after federal scientists claimed that an experimental drug had helped patients severely ill with the coronavirus, the research has been published.

Despite generally positive results, the researchers caution that the drug is far from ideal.

Remdesivir shortened recovery time from 15 days to 11 days in hospitalized patients. The study defined recovery as “either discharge from the hospital or hospitalization.”

The trial was rigorous, randomly assigning 1,063 seriously ill patients to receive either remdesivir or a placebo. Those who received the drug not only recovered faster but also did not have serious adverse events more often than those who were given the placebo.

“Given high mortality despite the use of remdesivir, it is clear that treatment with an antiviral drug alone is not likely to be sufficient,” they concluded.

The clowns in Daytona Beach and the clowns at the Lakes of the Ozarks pool are just a couple of gatherings over the last few days that can be found online that will result in new hot spots. Thousands of new infections will occur...I wonder how many deaths of those with compromised immune systems and/or of the elderly will result. It would interesting to see their face (host/spreader) when they get to the other side and their contributions are being reviewed (those of you that don't believe in a deity don't have to worry :xf.wink:).

Assuming there will be no other lock-down on a national level as indicated, along with the poor leadership in many US states, I am revising my number to 200,000 dead in the US by October 15th (this allows time for those to expire that are not smart during Labor Day gatherings). Again, I hope I am wrong.

Yesterday a doctor was being interviewed on CNN and was asked about the swimming parties. He said, "It seems that we haven't learned very much."

Glad I live in Oz.

We just passed 102 deaths, lockdown is over (for now) and most people are going back to work this week.

We dodged a bullet down here, but I feel deeply for the rest of you.

Hang on a minute. We're not supposed to believe CNN:

I stopped watching CNN when I caught them lying.

Still waiting to hear what the lie/s were.
