Hello,
I'm sure you all know all the "usual suspects" as far domain news outlets. So no need to name them. I've always wondered how one could start one? Obviously such websites are the best ways to promote your domain inventory. I've noticed that the real "draw" to these websites by domain aficionados is obviously the fresh content.

I admit I am not someone with inside connections. I'm not "in the know". I've always admired how any successful news outlet even domain ones could get fresh interesting news that people love to read about.

How do they do it?

I have also noticed certain websites that have articles like where they simply take articles they have read and rehash it and comment on them and create their own content.

Would this work for a domain news portal? Like take news from domainnamewire and just regurgitate it on my own domain news portal with own wording but using their data.

If done this way, do you have to site your sources?

Next. How does one get the latest juicy news about what's going on in the domain industry? Do you have to nurture relationships with registrars? successful domain investors? Do interviews with them?

This just seems like a lot of work vs. just wanting to get domainers on my website so I can have eyes on my domains or eyes on domains people pay me to advertise on my site.

Is there an easy way to do this?

I was thinking just creating an autoblog website where I install an rss feed script and just grab a couple rss feeds from the larger domain news websites and create mix of news feeds on my website that's auto generated.

But that idea simply means I would be sending visitors away from my website to those websites.

Kinda defeats the purpose.

The problem is of course for this idea is permission. would this be an issue with the domain news portals I'm pulling news from and putting it on my website? Obviously I will give credit.

I don't want to be accused of copying content. I'm sure there are legal issues with this.

I'm asking all of this because just today I finally found a really good domain news portal domain that I'd like to develop.

My other problem is of course reputation.
I seem to have created a bad reputation for myself on Namepros and in Domaining in general. And fellow domainers seem to take pleasure in running my name in the dirt to their benefit.

in essence like this. "check out what this domainer did. he's evil. he's greedy. blah blah blah. but I'm a nice guy. come check out my domain portfolio."

I'm very familiar with this tactic. It's high school all over again. Wait for some poor sap to screw up and then publicly point it out and by default since you are not THAT person. You become the big shot and whatever benefits you get from being the big shot. I have to admit. It works.

The question is should you go down that route? I wouldn't.

Would it be pointless to even start a domain news portal? With all the work required and my current domain reputation?
