There was a thread unfairly targeting Epik “lock policies” (i’ve personally never prob with)

Godaddy is a massive registrar with 80M+ domains, and the only one to impose 60 lock on pushes, and transfers, auction,.. the works.

Non-Godaddy fans (if out there) Will Godaddy ever change ridiculous mandatory 60 day lock force use GD for 60 days with convoluted out. This hinders liquidity? and especially annoying when part 20% market share, they dont control

Godaddy is the worst out of all with 60 locks.
Please try change Godaddy 60 day lock policy. @Paul Nicks, @Joe Styler

Sometimes, keep contact of the prev owner is too much of risk to take to override GD 60 lock

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Just because you don't agree with something doesn't mean it is unfair.

I have seen some Epik supporters attack GoDaddy for their internal locking policies. Epik is doing the same now with internal locks, so it does seem a bit hypocritical.

As I did say in the other thread, I purchased a domain recently that was in an internal lock status at Epik. The owner contacted Rob and the lock was removed though and transfer allowed to proceed.

I saw that post; and liked and agreed with it.

Rob removed lock; it was an easy solution.

This is out of @Joe Styler hands. It would require massive effort.

A note to future historians looking back at this thread: This is what happened after 2 months without sports teams to cheer for.

At GoDaddy you can opt out of the (60) day lock when you make changes.
There is a specific option that you can choose.

You can also email [email protected] and request that an internal lock is removed.

If you have keep DN contact info same; moot.

then not really ownership transfer in my eyes.

yu need also check; “keep contact same” box, if high-value transaction, it’d make me uneasy, it’s overly complex, messy, requires overhaul. “If not now, then when.?”

You can opt out when making changes @ GoDaddy. It is not mandatory.

Choose to opt-in or opt-out of the voluntary 60-day transfer lock. GoDaddy recommends the lock to help keep the domain secure in your account.

A disagree? For providing information that shows you are wrong (y)

Brad

I dislike and disagree with “rule” “loophole”

“it’s how it’s always been done.” Right, Brad?

This probly wouldve been Styler’s answer, so thankfully you saved us time. It’s wrong. (imo) Other registrar interpretation of rule, require no convoluted steps to waive-60 for acc pushes transfer. (anything l can come up GD 60 lock)

Only thing “safe” “secure” about the 60-lock, “safely” kill liquidity; makes, tough biz tougher.

There is no "forced" GoDaddy 60. As I just showed you can opt-in or opt-out when you make changes @ GoDaddy. I choose to opt-out.

It’s not that easy...

If change domain details, it (still) wont work

You’re satisfied Godaddy client (i think) Brad,
Opposite with me, Brad; 60 feels like eternity.

What do you mean it won't work?

I have updated contact details many times and there is a specific option to opt-in or opt-out at the time of update.

If it doesn't work then I would suggest contacting GoDaddy support.

Do you guys know if I need to switch off privacy to push to another GoDaddy account? That's what I was told by support. I moved a domain out to another registrar a couple of weeks ago and didn't have to do that. It defeats the whole point of privacy.
