Sorry to hear that, you always welcome back.

?

Keith can you at least give us a hint.
https://www.namepros.com/threads/husband-org-current-bid-375.1191627/page-2

OP added payment options mid auction, opening up his chances for more bids. My bid was placed prior to the change and once he made it, I retracted my bid.

I operate on the basis of the current info provided, not what is manipulated for future gains. The mods think his behavior is acceptable and want to hold me to my bid. Not gonna happen. $375 is peanuts but it’s the point here. This place has become an overrun wasteland.

I checked that thread out, it seems to be within the rules they posted:

"6.2.3. An auction cannot be modified once a bid is placed with the exceptions of its Buy-It-Now ("BIN") price, bid increments, approving additional bidders, adding payment methods, and/or adding additional domains at no extra cost. Once a bid is placed, every allowable change (the exceptions just mentioned) must be posted to the thread as a new reply as well as updated in the original post before it becomes effective and valid (e.g., a BIN price cannot be accepted until this is done, bt rule 6.2.10 applies). BIN prices are not reserve prices and therefore do not affect rule 6.2.10."

Unless something else is going on.

Elad had his account deleted
His account was not deleted. He did not even receive a warning from us.

@Mod Team Bravo please deactivate my account
Your account has been closed as per your request.

You still must honor your bid if you win.

We understand that bidders want as little competition as possible in auctions they want to win, but competition really shouldn't affect whether you bid. It cannot affect whether you honor your bid.

The rules are designed to be as fair as possible. Sometimes, they will be entirely in your favor. Sometimes, they will not. That's part of the balance that makes them fair and reasonable.

We hope that helps.

Someone bid $355.
Someone asked if he would take Dan with no bid just a question.
Keith bids $375 after that.

I don’t like anyone leaving but this particular member likes to throw fits when he doesn’t get his way or feels slighted somehow. Why did he place a $375 bid after the question of a Dan payment was asked if it offended him so much? Why does a member of 13 years not know the auction rules? Why does he lie outright that Elad was booted when we all can plainly see he self deleted his account? I guess we will never know as it looks like he left to avoid having to keep the deal.

Yuck. "Goodbye" posts like this only serve to create unnecessary drama for an online community. As admin, I would close the account as requested, delete the thread, and move on with life.

Retracting a bid because the seller added payment options? Ridiculous excuse. Honor your bid.

Seems like a lot of people are losing their minds over the smallest things these days. Keith was a good member for a long time. He joined back way back when I still owned this forum. I respect him a great deal, but I think he's wrong on this one. The mod team here is underappreciated and does not deserve those insults.

I agree with all your points except the fact that this was probably a build up of 100 minor things before the OP had enough.

This is why what seems to be one tiny issue, turns into a legend leaving the community. Seems like Keith isn't very appreciated...for whatever reason. Everybody matters, everybody should be appreciated.

I used to give away free domains and bitcoin on chat. I stopped. Why? Because of this.

I’m back because something unexpected happened. Apparently, you still get alerts when your account is closed. In fact, you stay logged in but can’t post. Strange...

Can you name another auction platform that changes the rules on the fly? NP allows users to set certain terms for auctions - starting bids, increments, payment options... no problem there. It becomes problematic when terms are changed mid stream. To me that’s not an honest or ethical way to do business. Another thing that is absolutely wrong - the ability to add BIN once bidding has started. If you want a certain number it’s simple, don’t start an auction. The rules should definitely get updated.

My bid was placed prior to Dan being added as an option. Also, no lie on my end, just poor wording. When I said Elad “had” his account closed, I meant he requested to have it closed. Example, I had my car serviced... I understand how it would be confusing though.

@JB Lions
Users routinely add BIN pricing mid auction, where no BIN existed at the start. The way the rules read to me is that this behavior shouldn’t be allowed. And as we speak, the seller of husband.org just added a BIN of $550 but did not have a BIN at the start of the auction. 100% wrong imo. How can you modify a BIN price if it doesn’t exist to begin with @Mod Team Bravo

BINs can be added anytime, it doesnt have to be from the start of the auction. He is supposed to add the BIN and then in a separate post, announce it , which I see he did. So what is the issue here? And on another note, I see you are no longer the top bidder of the auction so why worry? Also using Dan as payment costs the seller straight 5% if he imports the sales agreement/transaction and you are not charged. Again I dont see why you will be upset when the seller broke no rules at all. The seller answered a question which was asked by apparently a member interested in the name and in order to maximize the potential for a good price, the seller added the new payment method.

Lol.

Oh boy.

Agree with RJ, the yuck of it all. Are we going to grow up someday, and respect our elders? In this case, the medium which gives us the platform to voice ourselves?

WB. Better luck, second time round. WOA, don't be so quick next time to act on emotions, rest a day or two first.

That is not the way I interpret the rules -

"6.2.3. An auction cannot be modified once a bid is placed with the exceptions of its Buy-It-Now ("BIN") price, bid increments

In other words, if you start an auction with a BIN set at $500 you can update it mid auction to say, $250. However, you cannot MODIFY something that isn’t there. Simply saying that you may add a BIN means nothing.

No, it is not like that. When it says auction cannot be modified...it means things like starting price and increments, domain or domains in auction cannot be changed but if you add a BIN it means you modified the auction and you provided it since only that modification is allowed to be done after an auction has already started and contains bids.

You are misinterpreting the rules here.

Simply saying that you may add a BIN means nothing

6.2.4. A Buy-It-Now ("BIN") price may be changed (added, reduced, increased, or removed) on an auction prior to it being accepted, in accordance with rule 6.2.3. The BIN price in an auction must be publicly accepted by a buyer.

Elad had his account deleted because mods are out of control here. It’s been really bad these last few months.

@Mod Team Bravo please deactivate my account. I cannot stand the elementary level group that’s running the show here. Pathetic...
I remember your account was closed on the husband.org auction on Friday ...how come your account is back active now ?

How about one starting an auction with a BIN set to TBA? Then he can update it right then according to your logic?

Only for website alerts and direct messages from moderators.

You can log out to not see the website alerts.

The rules are specific about what can and cannot be changed once a bid is received because certain things are considered reasonable to change and others are not. It's a balance between being fair to buyers and fair to sellers because they want the opposite when it comes to the sale price.

In other words, if you start an auction with a BIN set at $500 you can update it mid auction to say, $250. However, you cannot MODIFY something that isn’t there. Simply saying that you may add a BIN means nothing.
An auction is being modified if a BIN is added to it, but we'll improve its wording.

We hope that helps.

I was getting alerts for every thread that I participated in. There was also no option to log in or out. The restriction was that I couldn’t post, unless it was a PM to mods.

Yes, the wording in the rules is murky. Thanks for considering an update in the language.

Did you receive any emails for the alerts?

You're still supposed to receive alerts on the website with a closed account, but you're not supposed to be notified of them via email.

As for logging out, when your account is locked, it should be in the same place it always is:
