SquadHelp - Marketplace

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Got annoyed with the "review and accept NDA" thing every single time and created a tiny Chrome extension to have it done automatically. Works in background too, so you can open several contests in new tabs and they are going to be NDA-accepted shortly after.

How to use:

1. Download .ZIP archive file with the extension from one of the following links:

Download from Namepros, alternative download, download from Mega

2. Extract the .ZIP archive file, a "Squadhelp Auto-accept NDA" folder is going to appear

3. In Google Chrome, type or paste in the address bar: chrome://extensions

4. Turn on the "Developer mode" toggle in the right top corner

ln2xwVm.png

5. Click the "Load unpacked" button

6. Select the folder

7. Extension is going to activate automatically. Chrome is going to add an extension icon next to the address bar – that is Chrome's default behaviour, but the icon is absolutely unnecessary, so click on it and select "Hide in Chrome menu"

8. You can then disable "developer mode" and delete the downloaded files

9. Try opening an NDA contest on Squadhelp and enjoy :smug:

Now that's a helpful post at its finest!

We can type any number of characters on this forum to make "feedback". But if those characters are just words, without development, then what value are the characters being put together to form words that may or may not be heard, or useful?

Whereas, taking the developer approach, using characters to form a process, and code, is doing more than folks like myself who are seemingly just gibber gabbering around.

Thank you for sharing this approach.

@GrantP and Squadhelp recently accused me of "targeting members of the Squadhelp community" by "calling out reviewers who owned names containing the same word" as one of my submissions.

My account has been restricted because of these charges.

These accusations are categorically false.

I have tried many times to communicate with Grant and Squadhelp about this incident. I recently spoke to Grant on the phone and he abruptly disconnected without addressing the situation.

Squadhelp has day after day refused me the opportunity to communicate with them or defend myself.

To set the record straight, here is exactly what happened:

One of my recent Squadhelp rejects was very similar to 31 premium domains on the marketplace. A number of these domains are owned by the seller-reviewers. When I saw this rejection, I decided to share my rejected domain and the 31 similar domains in this forum (all of these domains were masked so my post would not be found in search results).

I did this as a case study to demonstrate that there is a clear conflict of interest in allowing sellers to approve and reject domains when they themselves list competing domains on the marketplace.

Not once did I target specific sellers or call out any specific reviewers, as Squadhelp has accused me of.

In addition, I decided very quickly that I had been pressing this issue too hard over the past few weeks and -- on my own, before hearing from Squadhelp -- I decided to remove the comment within 15 minutes of posting it. This was done at approximately 1:30 in the morning in the US.

This little comment, which I removed within 15 minutes of posting at 1:30 in the morning and which never targeted specific sellers on the marketplace, is the grounds on which Squadhelp has placed restrictions on my account.

This comment is also the basis of the false accusations leveled against me.

Once more, I call on @GrantP and Squadhelp to retract their misleading and slanderous remarks against me and my business.

This path forward is a very simple resolution to something that Squadhelp has blown way out of proportion.

My account should be restored to full privileges and I need an apology.

It is unacceptable to go after sellers this way.

Not going to debate your privileges being restored, as I'm with you there to a degree.

But, I will challenge your demand for an apology.

We all need this. They need that. A little give and take might be needed.

Before them issuing you an apology, or restoring your account,
can you search within your experiences/content ,
(possibly for misinterpretations or behavior)
to take the lead,
and issue a sincere apology of your own
from you,
to SH, or those involved?

Grilled,

I have tried very hard to communicate with Squadhelp to resolve this situation.

They have refused.

They have also made false accusations against me.

What should I apologize for?

What should I apologize for?

I don't know.

I haven't looked at everything.

But, I question, if you can move towards finding your faults in the communication cycle,
then SH might be more open to restoring your account privileges.

Things aren't adding up here.

And I'm just wondering if both sides were to dig deep at their own actions/behavior, then maybe a resolution would be closer in sight.

So, if you were to go first,
with a sincere attempt,
to see where things went wrong in your opinion
(not just pointing fingers at them, but yourself as well)
then we will get to see SH true colors,
to how they respond,
in an evolved open dialogue.
Otherwise, continuing to 👉👈
seems destined to :banghead:
opposed to finding ✌

**I know. I'm not really one to talk. I'm just trying to take an objective approach here.**

I don't know.

I haven't looked at everything.

I just published a fully transparent account of the situation.

I have been 100% honest, transparent, and forthcoming about this.

I have tried many different channels of communication. Grant and Squadhelp have refused to give me a chance to resolve this.

Like I said, I just called Grant on the phone and he refused to discuss the situation, then abruptly disconnected.

Like I said, I just called him on the phone and he hung up on me.

Maybe the thinking is a cool-down period is needed.

Things seems irrational.

When things get too irrational.

Doors start to close until rationality returns.

This is odd...

Per

So even though the rejection is disappointing to my expectation, considering a SH coin was used, I appreciate the fact that it was viewed by an apparent internal team. Opposed to the below auto rejected response (which was submitted without a SH coin) that also cost me more than a hand reg, but was rejected at 1/15 with no internal review.

But checking in today, I noticed the expert review 1/10 votes is missing.

Quick question: Has anyone here tried out the domain classification feature that was added recently? I saw it advertised on my dashboard a while back, but haven't really heard any feedback on it.

•••
I have tried it. Had 30 plus names waiting a couple of a weeks I think. It's a great idea, and have been okay with waiting, but I am unsure if they have enough people signed up to do it. I thought I would try it and test results

Has anyone signed up for the domain broker? And had any contact from potential brokers?
There is no way to contact anyone signed up to do this directly. I am not sure how many people they have as brokers. I haven't had any proposals from a broker. Has anyone else?

You need to have a lot of time on your hands to try and broker brandable names.

I think it was set up to appeal to those already with SH, who are perhaps doing this anyway. Or maybe those working with domains professionally full-time. I actually don't have any information on how it works at all.

Thanks very much. Yes, I had read that at the time when I signed up. I meant that I didn't have any further information than when I signed up, on things like how many were acting as brokers or how it was working out. But thanks again for the link and the reminder on it.

I did and I'm very happy with the service. Still too early to tell if it has any effect on sales.

I have changed some of my names to "make offer" instead of "bin" prices. Why are they listed with BIN on Sedo?

@GrantP

My experience so far not as good as I expected.
upload_2020-5-27_11-38-50.png

1. More, than a year with them - zero sales.
2. New listings take more time to review. One of my submitted domains still on review for 7 days.
3. I've requested for the Domain reviewer position - no response.
4. I've had a few offers, but their salesman was not able to negotiate.

Something strange happened to me at SH recently.

I stopped submitting names for a while because I don't like

the new process that uses so called experts to review the names.

I regged a name I thought would be good for SH.

I decided I would give it another try.

I submitted a name and one second later I clicked on the

button to show domains pending approval.

One second after submitting the name there were already 3 reviews.

How is it possible to have 3 reviews on a domain just one second after

I submitted the domain?

Are real people reviewing the domains or is it some kind of AI?

There is no way 3 people could have reviewed the domain one second

after I pressed the submit button.

Has this happened to anyone else?

I've seen this a few times. It suggests that someone submitted that name as an unregistered name, and 3 SH staff rejected it. Now you've registered it and the 3 staff votes are still attached to it.

I didn't agree with this your submission.
What you are saying is that 3 internal SH reviewers votes, are now equivalent to the external reviewers votes which are fellow domainers

I'm not saying that at all.

I'm saying that when you submit an unregistered name, 3 SH staff review it.

If someone later registers that name and submits it to the expert reviewers, the 3 original votes are still attached to it.

You just confirmed what i said above. That means there shouldn't be any need for the expert review, if the name will be carrying 3 deficit votes.
Let's assume that someone submitted justvr.com as unregister name last December, and there was nothing like "vr" back then, and the internal reviewers voted down the unregistered name because the term "vr" was alien to them. Then in May this year vr began to trend, then I registered justvr.com, that means last year down votes will be attached to my name.

The SH forum has a lot of information.
https://squadhelp.com/t/resubmission-of-previously-rejected-names-newly-supported-extensions/6967

I'm guessing (you could try asking in SH forum to be sure) that your name was submitted as an unregistered name within the last 60 days.
