The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The domain mentioned expired on April 5. The registrar has automatically extended its registration period so the domain is now in what's called a grace period. You may be able to get it back, but usually this involves a fee (it probably varies by registrar, I've seen $199 at some).

So, to be clear, you allowed the domain to expire some 40 days ago. Name.com now seemingly wants to auction it at GoDaddy. And it has the right to do so unless you pay their redemption fee.

that domain appears to have expired on April 5th.

It gives me 45 days to renew domain. Why is NameFind owner of these names that so call expire? Isn't it illegal for GoDaddy to buy names for themselves?

They have bought my names before and still showing Name Find is the owner!

Go figure!

Namefind is the new new venture services Corp? I thought it was afternic on behalf of owner for auctions?
I think they change the nameservers, etc to prepare for auction. I am not sure of the timeline at name.com for expired domains.

I did post the GD timeline here...
https://www.namepros.com/threads/godaddy-expiration-timeline-fyi.1187864/
Noticed a lot of the expiring list shown at name.com are available cheaper in closeouts but they've been known to upcharge everything like sale links from who.is for example.

question is why did you let them expire maybe because you want to see value of them in auction? maybe someone backordered and snapped it?
its risky move to let domain go in auction for jyst checking value of name

You may still be able to renew the domains, regardless of the whois data. I've had some closeout purchases cancelled because they were renewed. I remember some domains from Tucows and GoDaddy, not sure if there were any from name.com, but I suppose it might work the same.

NamaFind is a GoDaddy subsidiary, there is nothing strange or wrong with this.
According to their help section you have 18 days after expiration date to renew your domain at standard renewal price, once that period passes you will have another 22 days to recover it but you will have to pay a $80 redemption fee, 40 days should be plenty of time to renew it if you really need the domain.

The OP is asking about a name taken out of his Name.com acct and now showing NF/GD. The name did not originate at GD, therefore is not subject to GD practices (until they take it over, which they now have).
