I wanted to get some opinions on this since I couldn't find much info on .llc domains. I am an eCommerce seller who uses Paypal as a main method of payment. When customers make a payment my legal LLC name as well as the email used is prominent on each invoice so the email used is important for the customer's overall impression. The .com version of my name was registered in the 90s and not available and I have been thinking about other alternatives to use, including .org. Today, I decided to register my exact company name with the .llc extension. I figured $25 is not a big investment and once it's registered, it's either gone or available only at a premium.

I wanted to know if anyone had an opinion about the extension especially using it primarily as an email. I figure .llc is obviously different than a .com and therefore not as confusing as .co for instance.

(As you may know, there can be 50 businesses in the USA that have the same exact LLC name. The LLC needs to be unique to each state.)

I guess this also applies to other company extensions/entities like .ltd or .llp for instance.

Youre making a ecommerce store go with .com if anything yourbusinessLLC.com

Id suggest not using a different extension for an email. I have people try and email me using [email protected] and I owned the business.biz....

Thanks for your feedback Steven. Basically I operate multiple eCommerce businesses all of which are .COM. .COM is the extension to use if you are serious about making money! A legal name is separate than a DBA or customer facing .com. But the way Paypal works is that you can have your LLC and single business account tied to multiple .com sites. When the customer makes a payment they see the registered LLC tied to the paypal account and this is separate than the site used for eCom. I hope this makes sense :)

So I suggest, at the footer of your ecomm stores or somewhere. state Company of yourbusiness LLC. or something similar to that. Let your customers know who owns the store.

I still would pick up businessllc.com even if the business.com is taken.

Good idea of LLC at footer.
