Be wary of user Dan Wolfenstein

He has posted 2 requests today and both have been closed by the Mods, by the look of it they are a known scammer?

In the first thread it was noticed by Rory that the email was known to be used for an appraisal scam, so the 2nd time he posted he changed the email address....

@Rory Ivey can you share the link that you posted in this persons first request please so people have the information to hand.

@Mod Team Alfa @Mod Team Echo @Mod Team Bravo

Why where they allowed to post a second request thread after the first one was closed down?
Why is the account not been closed?

Thanks

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Very fishy. I emailed today and didn't reply when I received the email below.

They claim to offer market price for your domains but ask you to get it appraised beforehand using a particular site

So what exactly was he/she requesting for. You didn't seem to have mentioned that vital part in your OP.

Request wanted section.......first time it was traffic domains for a client, second time it was for crypto names for a client

This was the link I believe: https://www.namepros.com/threads/is-this-a-scam.1071681/

  1. At the time the scammer was using this email to scam people with an appraisal scam: [email protected]
  2. Since this email was a custom email..the victim checked the whois and the whois showed the following ownership email: [email protected] (This is the same email this scammer Dan Wolfenstein is asking us to contact him outside at namepros at).
  3. In the old whois it showed the person real name is possibly: Kenji Morimoto (from Tokyo).

In their most recent request they were asking for porno names: https://www.namepros.com/threads/adult-domains-required-we-prefer-com-net-org-info-co-kr.1184515/

up to 50K... and offered an email to contact them outside of namepros) claiming they dont use namepros. I googled the email and found out that they used that same email to scam individuals in appraisal scams atleast since 2018 ..on namepros.

Scammers everywhere. They even have the audacity to bring this old scam to Namepros. The account should be banned immediately or even deleted.

Thanks for the detail.

Please provide any proof you have of a scam taking place.
  • You can use the report feature on the post
  • You can provide proof in the report or you can send all proof to our Support Team.
  • You can click the question mark at the bottom right of your screen and send the proof that way
As to why the member started a second request, nobody sent any proof of a scam. Without proof, we can not take any action.

Whenever a member sees anything suspicious, the best thing to do is click the "Report" link at the bottom of the post/message so a moderator can investigate and get more involved.

Now that this matter has been brought to our attention, we are looking more into it.

However, we do still request that you send all the proof you have to us for review.

Thanks.

I did send proof - they keep changing the email address and they are asking for appraisals before buying the name - not a new scam.
Here is the email again:

I'm broker of your buyer. I work for Subsys Inc.. You can find information about us at WHTOP https://www.whtop.com/top.10-alexa-ranking/country-no

https://www.whtop.com/review/subsys.no

My buyer invests money in web projects. He buys 10-15 domains for each project to get the maximum traffic possible. After that he sells developed web sites and make a good profit.

To communication with me faster I invite you to join my special group in Telegram messenger: @VipDomainBroker Also join my channel to see references and reviews from other sellers and buyers: https://rule_violation/AAAAAEZmLf7buh4OMR_wMw

Make search for "VipDomainBroker" in Telegram messenger and add me (@Eizabeth1978) to your contacts to send a private message. If your Telegram account is new and you cannot send messages to other members please send me your Telegram user name and I will contact you.
The buyer does not want to overpay. He will pay you the appraised value for the following two names

It will be fair since he does not want to pay something over the real market value.
Based on my experience, I think your name is in $20,000 - $40,000 range for Nastywet.com

Do you have a certificate of the appraised value?

If you don't have it's not a problem. You can order it online.

He needs it from a source he knows and trusts.

I’m also interested in a good estimate of the market price because he pays me % on each sale.

The process is very easy:

1. Go to the certificate agency site (see instructions below) and submit your domain for the certification. Please let them know you have a buyer with $XX,XXX offer. It will help you to get a better valuation. In the comment field please ask them to guarantee that the appraised value will be higher than the appraisal service fee. In this case you will not risk to pay and get a low appraisal. I suggest you this company because they protect you as the seller from getting a low appraised value. They will send you the payment instruction only if your domain is worth $10000 or higher. Otherwise your request will be declined and you will not pay hem anything. Other companies does not offer this option.

2. If your request will be approved, please pay them the fee and wait for 24 hours. Then send me the results via email and we will start the sale process. As soon as he receives your certificate, he will buy your domain via an escrow service. Any escrow service will be able to pay you via Paypal, Wire, Western Union or any other method you prefer.

He wants to ensure the safe delivery of the funds to you. Furthermore, since this is our first time conducting any business, I believe that using a third-party escrow service can provide a safe, well defined sale process.

The certificate must include only 3 things to be accepted by my buyer:

1. Independent valuation of the market price. Only manual valuation is accepted. No valuations generated by scripts.

2. Trademark infringement verification. It proves your domain has no trademark problems. He would like this verification to be included in the appraisal report. It's not a problem because some companies include the TM verification for free.

3. Copy in Norwegian (he will use your domain in Norway).

You can read about the recommended certification agency in my Telegram group https://no_url_shorteners/VipDomainBroker

If you don't have Telegram install it on your smartphone and make search for "VipDomainBroker". Then join the group and contact @Elizabeth1978 (operating broker).

If you are new to certifications, I can send you step by step instructions.

Update: The members account has been restricted for security reasons while we continue our investigation.

Notice:

In general, if someone is asking you to communicate outside of NamePros, you should be very skeptical of it and not do it.

You should also realize that we cannot help you at all if you move communication off of NamePros and something goes wrong, so be very wary of ever doing so.

The majority of the time, only troublemakers try to move conversations away from NamePros.

Beware.

You're allowing these scammers to do whatever they want for days
https://www.namepros.com/threads/betting-gambling-casino-domains-wanted.1184624/
https://www.namepros.com/threads/future-trend-domains.1184631/

this place became super low quality forum, 24-48h for repeated offenders, I see shill bidders again after they were just restricted....
I'm out
Nobody is allowing a scammer to do what ever they want.

This is the first report we have seen for that particular account you just linked to in those threads.

It helps if members click the report link in suspicious threads like that so a moderator can investigate and get more involved.

Now that you have brought that account to our attention, we have investigated further and determined that they are associated to the original account, attempting to conduct the same type of unethical activity (Possible a group or team of scammers). The threads were closed earlier by a different moderator team and we have just closed the account for security reasons.

As mentioned prior, please use the report features on any posts that seem suspicious so we can investigate and get more involved. By doing so, it speeds up the investigation process and also provides clues/evidence that may have not been brought to our attention yet.

Thanks.

They will come back.
Block email and IP address also.

Block email and IP address also.
Unfortunately, it's not nearly that simple. That is the first thing we do.

They are sophisticated and have a large network, but we took more drastic measures to block them.

Please notify us if you notice their return.

Thanks.
