Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

That's BS...
ANY mask is better than nothing - reduces viral load, and you body may be able to fight it off - but mostly - it collect the droplets from your breathing, sneezes and coughs and goes a long way from you spreading the virus if you are infected and have no symptoms. It also helps you to not touch your own face.

And a condom does not guarantee a woman wont get pregnant. But they help to mitigate the possibility. It's all about doing everything we can to protect ourselves and flatten the curve of the outbreaks.

All you need to do is look at countries like South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan , Japan and Macau, where they've managed to greatly control this virus.... 99% of the people are wearing masks.

Wearing masks is an essential part of combating this demon, especially if you are away from home and go to a supermarket or gas station or pharmacy etc.

Holdout States Resist Calls for Stay-at-Home Orders: 'What Are You Waiting For?'

https://www.yahoo.com/news/holdout-states-resist-calls-stay-141042861.html

people here in Texas are complying with the voluntary requests made, Police in Texas are not going to use force to make it happen, they are with us, not against us., they are standing down like the Texans they are, I see people heeding the "Cover your face request" as well, we don't have masks for sale here.so, people are using bandanas and ect,

Gov. Abbott of Texas is doing a fantastic job with keeping the middle ground of our beliefs as Americans and protecting our state, much love to our Police officers for standing by and with Texans on free movement and civil liberties

I guess what i am saying, we in Texas don't need fucking executive bullshit partitions of martial law, because it wont be accepted here, not now, not never.

When, and How, Does the Coronavirus Pandemic End?

1. So how does this end?

There’s a consensus that the pandemic will only end with the establishment of so-called herd immunity. That occurs when enough people in a community are protected from a pathogen that it can’t take hold and dies out. There are two paths to that outcome. One is immunization. Researchers would have to develop a vaccine that proves safe and effective against the coronavirus, and health authorities would have to get it to a sufficient number of people. The second path to herd immunity is grimmer: It can also come about after a large portion of a community has been infected with a pathogen and develops resistance to it that way.

8. What about the second path to herd immunity?

First, it would occur only if recovering from an infection leaves people with lasting immunity. It’s not yet known if that’s the case with the novel coronavirus. The portion of a population that would have to be exposed to the virus to establish herd immunity is also unknown. Generally, it’s high, for example 75% for diphtheria and 91% for measles. Patrick Vallance, the U.K. government’s chief scientific adviser, estimated the figure at 60% in February. How long it would take to reach the necessary threshold would depend on measures governments impose in response to the pandemic. Without tight restrictions, it would be faster yet come at a steep cost in illness and deaths as health systems would be overburdened. Some research assumes the actual number of infections is much higher than the confirmed cases. If that’s true, countries are closer to herd immunity than we know.

Why are the police harassing such an upstanding citizen as this for having a little fun? Note: I am soooo jealous of his super cool face tattoos. Maybe they should make him do cleaning duty on a Covid ward for a week as punishment...without a mask.

I post the story below because I heard someone this morning talking about what a good job Singapore has done in stopping the virus.

Singapore reports record new cases, quarantines 20,000 migrant workers

https://www.malaymail.com/news/worl...ses-quarantines-20000-migrant-workers/1853841
I posted it yesterday. Indeed Singapore are doing a great job. This new record rise is due to the 20.000 migrants, most of which are from Bangladesh.

They acted swiftly as soon as they detected a sharp rise in new cases that started yesterday and increased today, by quarantining them all...

"SINGAPORE, April 5 β€” Singapore reported 120 new coronavirus cases today, by far its highest daily rise, and quarantined nearly 20,000 migrant workers in their dormitories.

Of today’s new cases, 116 were locally transmitted and many were linked to two dormitories that house migrant workers, who will now have to stay in their rooms for 14 days.

The number of new cases is a 60 per cent increase over the 75 reported yesterday, which was the previous biggest daily rise. Singapore has reported a total of 1,309 infections and six deaths from the novel coronavirus.

Tens of thousands of blue-collar foreign workers live within close quarters in various dormitories in the tiny Southeast Asian nation, an island city-state. They form a significant part of the labour force, working in sectors from construction to cleaning."

It should be noted that a fairly high % of infected in Europe are also migrants, many of which are illegals.

I was not referring to your post...it was a talking head this am here in US that caught my ear.

Yes, they indeed have done well...so far. I'm afraid things are just getting started there...that is why I referenced the story in my post...I will put it below. They are just now closing schools...with a incubation period of up to two weeks, their cheap labor may not end up being so cheap.

The spike in cases comes two days before the country will begin closing schools and most workplaces for a month as part of tighter restrictions to combat the Covid-19 disease.

Singapore was one of the worst-hit countries when the virus first spread from China in January, but a strict surveillance and quarantine regime helped stem the tide. Recent spikes in locally transmitted cases have, however, raised fresh concerns.

The government is also converting a large exhibition venue to east of the island into a medical facility to accommodate patients who have mostly recovered from Covid-19 but may still be infectious. It will be the second such facility after a hotel was converted last month to isolate up to 500 such people. β€” Reuters"

Ok Guys, The thief's and scammers are out here, I would assume they are out where you live as well now, A few things that are happening here, People are going to peoples houses asking them if they need help, then intruding their home, people are standing at traffic lights like they are going to cross the street, then picking victims to run up to their car and grab their stuff, people are waiting outside grocery stores and picking victims to steal from, so the bad people are out here, there have been a few shootings of conceal carry holders shooting these bad folks.

Be aware of your surroundings at all times, keep your firearm with you or near you at all times, anyone who comes on your property or to your door should have a phone number you can call them on, don't open your door. ask them to leave immediately or simply do not answer to knocks and demands.

Stay well and be safe
