Today Dan homepage features two "sales":

His profile reveals a number of domains priced at €100 each:

Looks like a great opportunity to grab an LLL, LLLL and some other nice names!

I have ALL my domains listed on DAN. Learning and unlearning new things on the platform every day.

Thank you for raising this issue. The problem here is a human one. As long as people are involved in the domain listing process, some will for some reason add fake listings. We've seen Undeveloped.com and DAN.COM being listed at all major marketplaces by different sellers so many times that we stopped fighting it. It's something that's very hard to battle, even with ownership verification in place.

What we're doing to prevent this from happening too often is to manage a growing list of active sites that we add to a blacklist. By doing this we prevent sellers from adding those domains to our inventory. We automatically also block the top 50,000 Alexa ranking sites for example.

And in a week or two, our revamped automated domain ownership verification will go live, however, as mentioned that won't make these cases disappear.

Lastly, keep in mind that no seller can benefit from adding fake listings and no buyer can become a victim of fake listings either since no transaction can be concluded without the seller actually delivering the domain.

We thank the community for its safeguarding activities and encourage our users to always contact us when in doubt over a seller profile or listing. Our staff will act diligently when needed.
Same with this new user who is selling biotech.com and co for 2K

ownership verification is bad thing, if you add few domain a month that make sense but for full time domainer he/she can't spend time daily on verifying ownership for each and every domain. I have 0 domain in Sedo just becoz of that. Domainer have more important work than this verification and in first place I use 3rd party market place just to free up my own time on managing my own marketplace website.

Exactly why I have zero domains at Sedo too :)

*cough* *cough*

I have recently made some afternic purchases that seem sketchy -- but I will update you guys if I really struck gold with multiple listings or if it was one big fake. If the listings -- which I will update later are real ; holy cow. I am over the moon.

I think they should do more than just ownership verification. I bought a domain on DAN recently, which failed because of a faulty authcode. I would have expected they would have verified the auth code, before allowing the domain to be listed for sale. The seller never responded to their requests for a correct auth code. Which left me, the buyer, just sitting and waiting, until they decided to give up. I was not a happy camper. But hey, I got over it. But it was definitely a black mark on DAN's platform.

I host a sizable amount on DAN only because of their set-up.

I always redirect my domains to the DAN listing as well. Through the nameservers. As potential verification of ownership when you take a look at future listings.
Always with other DAN listings -- I see if the potential name in question is actually parked at DAN. If not, I am proceeding with caution.

I for one have had no luck so far from sedo so you arent missing much. That said I just have default dns settings that get applied to all domains that enter my account so I dont have to think about it. (I honestly find it easier than Afternic failing to let me list some domains or making then goto in review status then I have to email them). But I think the best way to do it is make in an option for those who are able to easily update DNS but not a requirement because I get that some registrars or third party DNS make it difficult of you may be using DNS from another marketplace with gives no option to edit records.

Unfortunately that's a problem with most of not all marketplaces. Until theres a way to give a marketplace access to see what domains you own (using like oauth or something to login to your registrar account and grant access to the marketplace) I suspect this will continue.

Saw this now.

Apparently, someone already clicked on the BIN button for workout.com at $300.

The guy also has a couple of other names for $300, CocaCola.com included.

Dan, please do the needful.

Sat.com for only $300...let me grab my wallet...

But seriously why do these scammers bother? Do they not know how Dan works that they will never see a dime even if someone does try to buy it.

Dan should automatically reject domains that contain special characters because this is ridiculous:

They should have a blacklist of well known trademarks and auto block those like Cocacola.com or pepsi.com and they could probably safely go as far as you at disable any account that tries to list those and suspend all their llistings.i can't image a legit user running into problems with that and if they did they could always contact support to get the account unsuspended.
