The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A special shoutout to @rlm for alerting me that my first name (Eldred) expired. I just registered it.

Thanks for not registering it! lol :)

LOL I saw that one the TBR, but didn't feel it was high-end enough to include on the Big List.

Obviously I was right. :xf.grin:

To Be Released (TBR) .CA Results & Leftovers for April 1, 2020

The TBR numbers increased almost into the 9K range, and that horrible 5K fiasco is now almost a memory. Even so, the quality was not great this week and although the quantity partially made up for it, there were really no true premiums on the list and I chock up at least some of the 144 picks to cabin fever. Our Top Picks list was pretty spot-on, with it covering the top 7 selections, including...

It's a Cabin-Fever-Buying-Frenzy!

strange how when you own/list a domain it is looked on as dingy and you can't even get a low ball offer. but when it is dropped and ends up on a tbr list it somehow acquires a shine and goes 24th. or is picked up in the leftovers. jus' sayin'.

(quickly looks to see what went 24th.... EXPERTLY.CA)

This is the false-allure of the drop lists, they all just exude raw potential and the sky's the limit. Like those old game shows where people would already own a great prize, but the "unknown potential" of Box #2 would cause them to trade it for a pile of clothes hangers.

Granted, there are some winners, but you need to do some research to separate the wheat from the chaff.

I like to think that everyone here would have known to lay off and let you have it! We're not all dirt-bag domainers like most people seem to think we are.

I am surprised at how quite this place is, considering most of us are sitting around in our homes.

- what are you opinions on the new look of Namepros? I kind of like the old look.
-Any sales lately?
-Anyone developing domains out?

I too find it more quiet of late, although don't have any numbers. Like you say, I might have expected more talk here. Although how controversial a few active topics are seem to, I suspect, drive spill-over activity on other threads.

New look is growing on me. At first I preferred the dark one.

This has been really slow since late November for me. A few low value sales to other domainers is all. Part of that is other things meant that I had a bunch of my domains not even listed (I know, I tell other people not to be that way! :xf.eek:) so have been trying to get that cleaned up this last month.

I do have two development ideas in the mind/works, but not ready to share them yet.

Take care, and stay safe, everyone.

Bob

Hey Bob
Good luck on the developments, I hope your able to get them off the ground. I think the new change will grow on me as well, time will tell.

I have been trying to down size my portfolio but seems like I keep buying more on the TBR's lol.

I had a sale on GD this week, nothing spectacular, high 3-figures but it came out of the blue on a $2.99 hand-reg that I decided to put a BIN on. "Money from Heaven".

Huge increase in Sedo offers - a total of 8 over the last week alone (never happened before) in the $299-$499 range - none closed but some are still moving slowly. Unfortunately 2 of these were for recently-purchased TBR domains that cannot be sold/transferred through Sedo as they don't push .CA.

Lots and lots and lots of $20 GD hobo-offers, but you knew that already. :xf.confused:

I've been experimenting with using social media for outbound and I actually got a lot of replies (a very very high percentage) and although none bought anything (a few went back with proposals to management) it was a fun little experiment.

I got royally jacked on this week's TBR - went for 9, lost my top 7 and bottom-fed on the other 2 junkers and really wished I hadn't - I don't want to drag my poor names through the mud, but I sincerely doubt these sell.

And 144 picks on that list? It's definitely Cabin Fever-fueled buying at work. No question.

I tried to add my domains to Godaddy but I kept having errors trying to add offer/counter offer the system wanted me to add a sale price even though I put in the Min offer for offer / counter offer. I lost it on one of the flip chart reading support people as well... lol, I just gave up after a back and forth for days with support.

It's been a while since I have had an inquiry. I was getting a cpl a week but nothing for a month or so.

I have mine listed at Efty, Sedo, Afternic, Dan.com

I have picked up @ 6 names on the last cpl drops and post drops.

Like Bob, I'm looking to put some money back into building up some of the domains into an online business.

The easiest way to add domain auctions to GD is to:

1) Go to SELLING and click the blue "LIST A DOMAIN BUTTON".
2) Never use the default format, even if you have only one domain to add
3) Always click the blue CREATE MULTIPLE LISTINGS button
3) Copy and Paste your Domain(s) in the space and hit "Next"
4) Select basic settings (like $20 for Min Offer, use a basic Category like "Words & Phrases - General", and leave Offer/Counter Offer setting enabled).
5) Click "Select All" Domains to select all domains
6) Click the above "Apply ALL changes to all checked domains" link to gives these attributes to all your listed domains.
7) Click the "Terms of Service" and then hit the blue "FINISH" button.

Sorry if that was incredibly basic and you knew how to do it anyway, but I found it very obtrusive adding in a single domain, so I use the "Multiple Listings" options all the time now.

I have done exactly that 50 times and still get and error asking me for my "price" which isn't needed if using the offer/counter offer. ( I set the offer/counter offer to $25)

I'd try a different browser with most security options disabled and cookies open, as I've done this tons of times without issue, so if you're getting errors it must be a security or cookie issue.

I have a locked-down browser (Firefox) I literally cannot use to access any accounts these days, as companies seem to want more and more access to your browser. So I use a mid-level secure profile on Chrome for my log-ins. Firefox doesn't even work on GD et al anymore.

For reference, when I get to that multi-load page, the Asking Price field is totally greyed out and will not take any input. Only the Minimum Offer is even accessible. Is it the same with you?

Do all the Min Offer and Category fields propagate properly when you click the "Apply ALL" link? Where exactly does the error pop up? When you hit Finish?

Is anyone else seeing last-week's TBR picks still showing up in the CIRA TBR listings? Usually these selections stay resident for a day or so, but we're now into Saturday and they're still gumming up the works.

there is no way gd will ask u for bin price unless u pick bin listing type. thats an erorr type one gets in some first week beta testing phase of a website.. gd just ain't there ;)
but sometimes u can get errors when trying to confirm your list of listings and submit them due to some of them already being listed on other accounts.

Mine suddenly starting working not long after I made that post.

My "3" filter dropped from 21 to 15 and last week's 3-character picks were gone. Coincidence?

If willing to share, if you have many of the same names listed at all of those, which do you find a better platform for selling .ca on? Also, which do you point your DNA - landers to, or is that mixed?
thanks

I will say that I have serious reservations about DAN.com driving any organic traffic to your domain listings, and I was not surprised to see them issue a "We're Spending $$$ on Driving Traffic to DAN" release, as it can't just be me noticing this.

I firmly believe that a huge percentage of DAN sales are from those who send/park their traffic on the site - a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you don't send traffic yourself, it's cricket time.

GD, Sedo, and Afternic all have inherent traffic and views, and I've sold plenty of domains there without any traffic forwarding. GD is very good at this, and I highly recommend people take the time to list there.

Uniregistry is a totally different animal, and I have NEVER even got an offer, let alone sold anything, through their marketplace (for years).

Personally, I would say Sedo and GD in a dead heat, with Afternic a solid second, and I would probably send traffic to Sedo first (lower commission), then GD.

Hey Bob,

None of them work for me... lol. ( just the overall quality of my names ) But I run my RedTagDomains.ca off of Eftys platform, So most of my solid leads come in from Efty. I have had some success with Sedo, but my over all issue is proof of ownership. Each platform needs to verify that the domains are in fact yours. I hate adding header codes in websites that i own, or adding a cname or some other form of dns record.

I just finally added 200 domains to godaddy and 90% were denied because my whois info is protected. When I added my names to Sedo I send in images of the domains in my account and that seemed to work fine. I just found that there wasn't a way to easily add a txt record or what ever they need in bulk to all names in my registrar. ( I am sure there is an easier way but I get discouraged easily and move on lol. )

I have my dns pointed to landers on Efty. I will be moving my site to Epiks domain platform. It looks good and it's free.. I have been msging Sarah and Rob from Epik and they are willing to work on domain pricing with you.

I have had my names at afternic for a few years, I get flurries of price requests ( funny they all arrive @ renewal times ) out of @ 100 inquiries I have had ZERO follow ups or offers.

Most of my domain sales have been from outbound inquires via LInkedin or direct email from the companies website.

I have very limited experience or success with Domaining in general, maybe others have better insight into your question.

Last year was my best year for sales.

I have had my names with Dan.com for @a year and there have been no views on any name...

I had lots of inquiries with Uniregistry, but never closed any sales, the brokers would almost spam the interested party, instead of picking up the phone and calling.

I will work on getting my names at godaddy. I finally was able to add some names via firefox instead of chrome?

I sold PiriPiri.ca in March. I haven't submitted it to NameBio yet but I can share the price - $750 USD.
I left money on the table here by not doing my diligence on the buyer, a Montreal restaurateur with 5 local restaurants, not the middleman web designer that I was negotiating with.

PiriPiri is the Portuguese spelling and pronunciation of "periperi", that African spice made famous by Nando's and Barcelo's, our families favourite take out.:xf.smile:

With the exchange rate it's right around $1000 CAD.

It was a very busy month in other areas as well. I drove just under 22,000 km, just over 300 driving hours and generated some solid leads for my carrier's sales team.

I'm exhausted, but it's a good exhausted. I have Saturday and Sunday off, Monday I leave for Lethbridge.

Have a great weekend, I won't be online much, I need to connect with family - it's Star Wars night! We are renting Rise of Skywalker after dinner with popcorn and fizzy pop and the kids are wearing their Star Wars pajamas!

Well wishes to you and your families, wash your hands and stay safe! Happy domaining!

Savor that special age, as very soon no one will want to watch the same movie, and Movie Night will quickly turn into Friday Night Fights.

P.S. congrats on the sale - I posted earlier about a similar one (high 3-figures USD, 4-figures CAD) that was like manna from heaven. I used it to renew a good portion of my domains and don't have to worry about "domain management" for a while now.
