Having relatives and friends scattered all over the globe, I am getting an overload of input (some on the record and some off the record).

My intention for this thread is for community members from around the world to post first hand stories and/or links to information sources that, for the most part, should be reliable.

In my community, just outside a major southeastern city, 'assets' have been placed. Only because I have friends in both high and low places have I heard about some of this. At this point it is only some basic medical supplies that should be equally distributed anyway in preparation for a natural emergency (hurricane/wildfire/etc.).

I will start with posting a link to a site with current data that seems to come from an aggregate of sources and hope others will do the same as they come across similar sites/pages.

Because of the 'typhoid Mary' spread-ability of this disease, I feel we may be in for a really large spread globally which will impact the global economy and through extension, retail domain prices.

One thing is for sure...things will get worse before they get better.

All cities in the US should have stopped mass transit weeks ago,, we should have stopped many things though that weren’t or still haven’t been stopped yet, but mass transit is damn as bad as loading up an airplane full of people

It ain't gonna happen. China is also a nuclear power. The best way to retaliate against China is economically. Stop buying unnecessary Chinese crappy products and gradually and ASAP bring back most of the factories, both to the US and Europe.

Let them produce crap to Africa and a few other places, since Africa doesn't seem to be able to produce much on their own.

a response doesn’t always mean a military response, they do have nukes , Russia has nukes , but both those countries are pretty healthy right now, the virus is not kicking the piss out of their countries, the virus has yet to peak and the US is not well at all right now, supplies, testing , the virus is taking our economy into a depression, just our current status right this minute makes our country a bit destabilized , we can not take any chances that China could even have a chance to take the USA, we can not risk that, our war ships have sick sailors on them, one is a nuclear warship, we can not risk that ship and others being taken over , what is the answer or solution of response necessary to completely protect the country right now??? I don’t know that answer, but we better send a response to China and make sure that Russia is clear that the US will not be messed with at all right now.

You have to ask yourself a couple of questions @GILSAN

if your country of Portugal gets really sick and needs assistance , China comes on over, helps your country get well, how is your country going to repay China for service rendered??? This is the scenario that is playing out in the Philippines and Ecuador right now, as they have asked China to come save them. China will take both of those of countries , they will take Portugal too if they end up there, no need to count on the US, UK for help, they won’t be able to come as you can see. Don’t think it can’t take your country and lay it down, because the virus can.

we know for a fact that China withheld information for months on the virus, I feel and many many other do as well, that China made this virus in the Wuhan China biological warfare labs and released it. They gave Jong Un of North Korea the jollies of being to able to say he is sendIng the USA a special Christmas Present. China is well, Russia is well , Pakistan is well , what do you not understand about what you can see happening with your own very two eyes?

prepare for what????? Russia is the #1 destination for Chinese businessmen, they had been flying in and out of Russia , even when the virus was broadcast in Wuhan China, those international flights were still taking place, it wasn’t until about 5 weeks ago that those flights stopped going, Russia has reported 4,149 cases with 34 deaths, no new cases in a while now.

One city block of New York has more cases and deaths than Russia.

Russia is only preparing for thing, anyone who can’t see that is blind, anyone who can’t see what China is doing is blind, you can’t make this shit up, the evidence speaks for itself, the writing is on the wall

Unfortunately my country has had left wing socialist governments for the last 20 of the past 25 years. Nothing would give me more pleasure than to see these jackasses out of the government, but the people keep voting for them.

And yes, because they are socialist they are also very friendly with the Chinese government, which really pisses me off, since the Chinese have already taken over some of our top and strategically important companies, just like they've done all over... including the US.

I'm praying that our POS socialist government doesn't cave in to the Chinese again and sells off more companies, but I'm convinced that's exactly what's gonna happen.

New York emergency workers are facing "battlefield conditions"

Front-line responders in New York City, the epicenter of the coronavirus crisis in the US, are facing "battlefield conditions," said Michael Greco, Vice President of the New York City Fire Department Bureau of Emergency Medical Services (FDNY EMS) union.

“We’re now in a major triage mode," he told CNN. "If we don’t get a return of circulation, after 20 minutes we are terminating the CPR and we are not transporting.”

The hour or so that they spend transporting patients to hospital is now "battlefield triage," he said. "We’re in wartime mode."

Greco said that before the coronavirus outbreak, he and other paramedics would see perhaps one or two cardiac arrests a week. One FDNY EMS crew handled seven cardiac arrests yesterday alone.

"As an EMT (emergency medical technician) or a paramedic, doctors too, and nurses, we all swore oaths to do everything we can to save a life and now we’re making decisions that we were never trained for to handle mentally," he said.

Emergency workers are fearing for their lives: Some members are sleeping in their cars or hotel rooms, afraid they could get infected and bring the virus to their homes and families, Greco said.

“We have members who filled out wills because they don’t know where this is going.”
