We saw Crypto keyword shoot up during 2017 and 2018 and some of the massive sales happened with that extension. People who anticipated this ended up making hundreds of thousands if not millions of dollars during that time.

One of the investors I came across, who also sold CryptoGame(dot) com for $85,000 or so, was someone who rode the wave and made some decent returns out of the investment, which he anticipated owing to his knowledge and being the front-runner.

According to you, what could be the next big keyword that would make the headlines and possibly, bring about some massive sales?

"Crypto" keyword in Domaining was more than a Trend, rather it was close to a Revolution we all saw a couple of years ago. You buy anything, it will sell in a month. I hope you faced that if you were investing on Crypto domains in 2017. I have seen only 6-7 such revolutions in last 20 years.

CBD maybe?

I want this to be true SO bad. I bet big on CBD domains last summer and haven't had ANY interest in them so far. I recently started to panic and bundled 21 of them to sell on Flippa. Not my proudest moment...

A prototype solid-state battery based on lithium and glass faces criticism over claims that its capacity increases over time

Looks like batteries are always the next big thing?

All solid state rechargeable aluminum–air battery with deep eutectic solvent based electrolyte and suppression of byproducts formation

It actually depends on industry the domain belongs to.

For global / general , choosing big domains will depend actually on the trend / publicity / news a keyword term attains. (For example , CORONA virus related domains are in spot light right now due to the on-going epidermic crisis happening around the world , though it may be short-lived)

For niche industry , upcoming new term that boosts the sales / business will make an great investment.
(For example , NodeJS / Angular / Full Stack / Mean Stack would be best bet in Web Design / Development industry)

Hope this gives an idea.

Good point if someone thinks they are onto something real early they are not giving it away.

I definitely think this is the year for health, medical and wellness themed domain names!

I guess Virtual Meeting tech is a hot topic, especially these days, and that it will remain so in the future.

I think focusing on popular web stacks is a good strategy, as more companies would look for brand-able domains aligned to their stack/offering. But do you think that short term holding may be the most beneficial in these cases - as often a particular stack doesn't remain popular with something new arriving in the market same for the corona hype? :P

Further, I believe the potential isn't in web design but for SaaS based services. For example, ElasticDeploy.com, i feel more services will come up to complement existing cloud offerings (AWS, etc, for quick deployment as configuration sucks). Just an example of my ideas on this :)

I think the major keywords: betting, casino, insurance, vacation etc won’t change much. But obviously there’s the future trends, I’ve put some effort into:

-Holo
-psilo
-VR
-AI
-DARQ

And many more. Looking far into the future, I took a small gamble on metasurfaces which is way ahead of its time. Take a look though, it’ll transform everything to do with optics!
