It's time for the domain industry's version of March Madness

The best registrar in the business for 2020

Registrars that got less than 2 votes from last time were not included, Uniregistry being acquired by GoDaddy is not included.

the last big poll here.

Can NameSilo defend their crown? Will Epik finally come through and attain the top spot? GoDaddy always a contender. Any surprises?

Ya co soldering Netsol somehow got 19 and even 1&1 got 2 that's pretty bad...

I was a fan of Uniregistry and their (mostly) competent support and secure domain management portal, but post GoDaddy acquisition I can't say I'm a fan of GoDaddy's past business practices and policies with regards to due process when it comes to account security and other matters, and I'm concerned this could affect Uniregistry as well so I'm looking elsewhere.

They are actually not bad, I think. I used them a while ago, and they offered excellent service. Loads of ccTLDs as well.

i feel you, but until today, never heard of them; believe other than market factors; it’s the
Classic case of a terrible name..
What is “101domain”?

i feel bad for Above.com; continue to waste its awesome name fading into obscurity. :cautious:

This is not the first time when somebody is talking about godaddy global recognition. In out of over 200 countries, as far as I know godaddy is instantly recognized in US, UK and India, if there are other countries where they are instantly recognized, than please share with us. I know for sure that in most Europe( outside UK) the majority of average users will not instantly recognize godaddy as a brand, so it's hard to talk about globally recognition. Mcdonalds, Apple, Nike, Adidas, BMW, and so on are globally recognizable brands, no comparation to godaddy, just if you compare them in the domaining world.
Totally. In Europe, 1&1 are known to all moms i think, which is just pity. GD... I doubt so.

Hello,

We're working on a lot of updates for polls. In the near future, polls on NamePros are going to have a lot more options and features thanks to your feedback, such as not allowing comments until the poll closes if the pollster chooses. However, we've only read a few posts in this thread, so if you had/have suggestions, please share them in the Poll Feedback thread so that we can take them into consideration during development.

Note: Newly-registered accounts have not been able to vote in any polls this year, which is different from last year. Soon, there will also be advanced analysis available on larger polls like this one, which will help to remove manipulative votes from polls.

Edited for clarity: Accounts may not be considered newly-registered the whole time for a long-running poll like this one. For example, March 1st is 25 days ago (almost 1 month ago), so that's not really considered a newly-registered account by our standards, but it is possible for members who registered on March 1st to not be able to vote because it's based on more than just the registration date.

Follow the poll feedback thread for updates.

As submitted to TLD Investors:

It is awesome Raymond, the great work you have done in helping to lift up the domain industry and the valued investors and collectors that are within it. Some amazing people (including some feisty personalities lol), but so much depth and experience in helping others. Just watching Michael's recent social conference as well was a real treat. The compassion, care for others, the humility, the long standing relationships.. much respect to all of you and the important roles you play. So much knowledge that has been freely shared over the years. It is a privilege to be an active participant in such a great industry.

I am thrilled you are so active in running polls and challenging individuals to think. The competition is very healthy, and ultimately should result in better customer service, heightened consumer experiences, and an increase in capabilities and focus across the board. There is so much to learn, just in terms of best practices and methodologies. I myself have had registrar accounts with a dozen or more companies over two decades, due in part to various name acquisitions or sub-management responsibilities we have held as an ad agency. So I've seen the best and the worst, and have been gravely disappointed at many of the market choices by the largest in our industry. I am so thankful for the emerging organizations that can thrive through flexibility, and truly focus on customer service without compromise. We need more companies like them.

For me this is no question. In terms of organic innovation, market position for positive influence on the future, evolving technologies, care of staff and partnerships, respect for others, and pushing the overall consumer experience, my vote goes to Epik hands down.

And it is not even close.

I know of no other company where executives get up from the dinner table to help with needful clients. Often seven days a week. Or make themselves available at 2 am in the morning to make sure a seller can close a hard worked deal that is worth a lot to them when much is on the line. Or a CEO that will gracefully extend renewal periods to 35 days to help out a customer that has had a hard month. Or reduce migration costs and take a personal hit to help reduce the cost of renewals and get access to better services. Or help even return and restore names when possible through back end coordination when the occasional collector loses an expired domain through mishap. Or the incredible pool of talent and passion that has been drawn to them, as they work each and every day to help make the customer experience the absolute best one possible.

That is before even considering their new programs to help struggling domainers from all registrars list their names into a liquidation platform to help turn it into positive revenue, prior to GoDaddy's expiry machine shredding them into dividend payments. Or their low fees and highly personalized concierge assistance when needed on escrows. Or their experience in navigating different payment methods. I would mention the expanding marketplace resources, including the new WYSIWYG editors, and the near unlimited capabilities to design both amazingly detailed landers and full personal market places in a matter of minutes with no experience. There is nothing like it in the industry.

Tag in the option to pay one fee for domains and never renew them. New insurance products to protect premium domains from UDRP and hijacking attempts. I'd also mention likely the number one champion in the industry for responsible free speech, protecting the rights of domainers, and pushing the absolute framework to guarantee the right to expression and resiliency/security of online operations.

Most would be awed by their investments into new marketing resources. Their work in integrating ad agency professionals over this past month, so that they can boost direct sales and premium brokerage services by meshing names with added value strategic programs. I've seen the Redbooks / Winmo videos myself. Soon Epik will have terminals that can literally track 150,000 professionals, 14,000 ad agencies, and a massive data bank of fortune brands. Comparing them with RFQ and RFP requests to build active tracking on some 1.5m deals yearly where companies literally layout their branding budgets and the type of brand identity creations they are looking for.

The real cool stuff though gets into how Rob Monster converts premium sales and Epik's own earnings into a massive hub of transformation that serves some of the most impoverished market areas in the world. Like Toki - which takes a snapshot of the web, compresses it into a localized server, and then drops education and empowerment on demand into market areas that have never had access to the web. Or his recent HI.TV platform, that is enabling one click, no download, no login, free video conference access to those who are separated from families and having to correspond at long distances. Or the work I have done myself thanks to his help with PrayerMeeting, in introducing Epik's video terminal adjusted for prayer and loving care for one another to pastors and worship leaders around the country. I could continue, and I hope to one day help him do so. There are many exceptional products and services to take advantage of at Epik, and those who choose to see for themselves are experiencing some amazing paradigms. I for one have taken the time this past month to really dig in and discover. You should too!

So if you are seeing posts about bias. About "employees" voting. About the degree of activity in support of Epik and the feeling of a few masked individuals who think this dubious... Please remember, some of the most passionate domainers across the world are involved with Epik at many levels. Not because they are employees - as Epik retains an extremely versatile remote network covering literally five continents. But because they are each empowered to feel part of something greater. It is truly Epik!

I do like Epik myself - in particular, the immediate receipt of domains bought in their reverse auctions and the accessibility and helpful nature of Rob on NP. The only reason why I don't use Epik more often is that to buy domains there via paypal (PP) in my part of the world, PP requires that an int'l visa/mastercard be card attached to my account. My local debit card is not accepted via paypal to buy domains with Epik. However, with other registrars, like Namesilo and Dynadot, I am able to buy domains via PP with my local debit card attached. The latter is highly convenient and cheaper for me to use. Not sure why with PP there is that difference between registrars. I have to say Dynadot rocks as well. In addition to my reason previously mentioned, they offer 5.99 domain discounts pretty often.

One redeeming quality of Netsol is if a domain expires and is within the grace period - the nameservers don't change to some expired nameservers like at many other registrars. This feature is useful if you have domains whose NS point to for sale landers that you want to keep operational until you decide to renew.

The biggest lesson of the year: how fast and dramatically @namesilo lost their first place. All these small issues that remained unanswered for long time, all bugs, all cancelled auctions, all lost domains, and overall - bad reputation impressions...

Never rest on our laurels, folks.

I have a lot of choice words to direct towards your comments...

... however, if you are serious about

Become A Peace Maker

... then I will hold those choice words for now, in hopes you truly wish to be a peace maker, and not just a promoter.

I had enjoyed reading the post of the many members who left this forum because of Robs/aka Epiks unfiltered spamming much more than I enjoy reading yours or other worshipping members aka fanboys hail Rob posts

in case your are not aware of who let this forum already:
https://www.namepros.com/threads/go...ernational-it-was-lovely-beying-here.1179838/

@Lox just left
@Brands.International left
@Grilled left

and many more

@frank-germany , while I can understand why you might have thought I left namePros because of Epik/Fanboi involvement, my decision had more to do with wanting to silence myself, as if it's not apparent, I'm not/haven't been feeling too stable as of late, and while I seek help personally in the outside world, I wanted to mitigate any unforeseen instances in the online world where I may wake into a situation I'd rather not be in, due to an overactive stimuli, or an uneducated/short-sighted opinion that I might have put in print while possibly not being in my right mind. Specifically speaking, I wanted to continue commenting on the ICA thread and address certain aspects (such as spam) of the CQD thread, but with everything going on for me personally, and everyone else globally, I don't think now is the appropriate time to be divided. Just my opinion.
I'll keep my current vote for my Cinderella of this years bracket, Sav.com!

As my last comment in this thread, and shifting away from the voters, getting back to registrar candidates, I want to wish an early congratulations to the likely victor, @Epik.com... Even if the reason for winning is because they hired an abundance of namePros members, and that decision in itself helped lead to a victorious poll, then who are we to judge.

It's hard to deny that it seems Epik has created a great platform in terms of user features, and there are a lot of signs pointing towards continued growth..

However, as certain internal policies have came to light, in particular regarding Epik warehousing domains, I no longer feel comfortable using their landing pages, as if Epik is in the business of warehousing, I don't want to be concerned that Epik has access to the amount of leads/offers/traffic/whois inquiries each domain had received, and a decision to warehouse may (not evidence based) be influenced/leveraged by such stats.

If not for Epik warehousing, and if not for *as it turns out, for me* Sav.com has had a better backorder success rate against Epik backorders, and for a cheaper price....

... I might have changed my vote from Sav.com back to Epik.com, but as Sav.com support and services has been nothing short of amazing for me, I'm happy to keep my vote with the good people/backordering super powers of Sav.com.

**apologies if parts of this post comes off as an advertisement. I have no financial affiliation to sav.com or epik.com besides being a customer.**

I normally don't like to put people on ignore. But if I weigh out what I dislike more, seeing the same type of comments by the same people repeatedly, over and over, seemingly offering zero personal thought behind their comment, rather acting as an echo chamber absent of a nucleus. Maybe it's time to reconsider, and evaluate.

And I suppose as you say, if I, or anyone else feels strongly enough against any members opinion, especially against another members trolling nature in comparison to the amount of value that member brings, than I suppose you are right. Ignoring a member is probably better than allowing any member(s) behavior influence your opinion that namePros is a not positive place. Because despite a few bad eggs, or a few bad days, this place is generally be a positive experience for everybody, no matter the opinion, as we all add value in our own ways, though, all have different tolerance levels, perception, and experiences, it's one of the best hangouts the internet has at present time.

With that said, @Ryan217 and @Samer, I truly wish you both positive experiences on the forum. Though I may not be able to see your comments anymore going forward. I want thank you both for accelerating my perception, and opinion, that sometimes rather than engaging with an opinion or member(s) that is likely not to change nor add any value to my experience, it's best I disengage for a period of time, to hopefully allow namePros to be a more enjoyable experience for not only us, but for the other members who don't wish see see such nauseating back and forth nonsense.
