Registrar Redirects

I know that it can be deleted.

My question is: Will that hurt any SEO that is done on any site that is developed if that redirect is not removed?

I am by no means a SEO expert, but have to throw this

Since it's a new website, feels like SEO limited already,

and arent websites edited all the time?

if anything, improve SEO; adding content...

Thanks for the reply.

I was under the impression that you should stick to one version of the url at all times and I would think more people type in urls without the www.

I appreciate the link to that. Through one of the links on the thread, I ended up on sitechecker dot pro (sorry I can't post links here yet, I'm gonna fix that soon)


I found my answer and even more relevant info that may help others. May need to confirm further than just this one source tho. Here are the main points I found from that site:


"The main thing you need to know and remember, that your website must not be reached by two URLs name/ com and www name/ com."


"When both of these website URLs are working, Google sees it as two different websites."


"So, in case, you are at the beginning of the creation of the website, please do it the smart way and choose only one variant of the website’s URL."


"WWW URL lets to set cookies for your specific www subdomain."

"there can be a case that one day prefix WWW becomes obsolete"



This next one here seems to be very important to domaining as I see things that I don't fully understand from sites that sell brandables and the option to use cname as a verification method (or something like that):

"non-www domains don’t have CNAME records, so you can’t redirect traffic from one server to another."

Again, I need to look further than 1 source.

No , redirect wouldn't hurt any SEO performace , its better to use 301 redirect via htaccess to passing juice your power link . For every new domain, its better focus to create more high quality content than build external backlink .

Writing the necessary htaccess directives may not be simple if you're not technically savvy with website deployment.

Better to 301 redirect at the registrar level - simple and less error-prone.

I was just curious as to how important it was to stick to using one way over the other when it came to ranking a site if the domain was to be developed. When I saw that it was already set up to redirect at the registrar, I wanted to know more.

I think I have a grip on it now.
