An online marketplace for coffee, coffee machines and accessories will soon be launched under the catchy domain "Kaffee.de". The target group of Kaffee.de are individuals, restaurateurs, baristas and office customers.

For the domain, Kaffee.de's parent company OPAG, a coffee wholesaler that started up in 2013, recently paid an impressive amount of 200,000 euros. The OPAG creators Andreas Goclik and Oliver Pflüger want to turn over 100 million euros annually on Kaffee.de by 2022.

Yes actually sold twice https://namebio.com/kaffee.de one of those sales is a dupe at $136,000 but it was then resold for $237,474.

Now why I can't I think of big ideas like turning over 100 million euros by next year? And pay $237,474 for a domain name :) Rhetorical question. I'm obviously not thinking creatively enough :)

.de? Isnt that market, only one value hyphen domains?

I look at this as an anomaly, and an exception. If they had .com, it would prob forward to ".de"

Kaffee.de will have a big impact on the market. Germans consumed an average of 164 liters of coffee per head. This is the result of a study published in 2017. The .com could be useful, but in this special case not necessarily important.

OK. Maybe I raise my estimate to $2 :) Unless you can sell it to "moneybags" owner of Kaffee.de. The obvious target.

Estibot thinks it's worth $80 with some of the biggest search stats I've ever seen.

Huge Topic = Coffee..

Maybe it sounds good in Germany....

However..

In Future...

Corps. Should go with HOTTER Sounding .Com or .Co Instead IMO...

IF Interested in USA Market (The Big Daddy Of All) cash....

This ".de" is garbage sounding to me personally here in Canada..

On #BlackFriday... You can Appeal To Americans With a .COM or .CO ...

More Online buy opportunity...

The problem with that theory is the company is basically German. I suppose that might include some close neighbors like Nederlands. And they tend almost exclusively to use their own countrycode tlds. If you are selling to Germans you basically NEED the .DE That's basically the way the world works, except in the US, who have ostracized their own country code.

Yes, exactly like "*.gb.com", "*.kr.com", "*.se.com" and too many other "subdomains":

Good sales:

play.gb.com 1,500 USD
shopping.gb.com 1,981 USD
casino.se.com 5,000 USD

But where are they today? => https://www.internetnews.me/2016/04/29/centralnic-sunsetting-several-sld-extensions/

Good luck if you want to invest in those subdomains ...

But @asxforum's domain is kaffe.com.de, not kaffe.de.com. There is a world of difference between these two.[/QUOT"E]
"*.com.de" are subdomains too ...

Yes. But you cannot use the examples of .de.com when talking about .com.de. They are entirely different subdomains.

I didn't say they were the same thing, I just said that if you buy a subdomain, there is no garantee that the subdomain you bought will not be terminated one day because the "com.de" owner decide to sell it!

I am sorry, English is my third language, so if you think that I said "com.de"="de.com" it is just my bad English, :)

I don't have the time to research this. But I'm assuming the .com.de and .de are like .com.uk and uk. whereas .de.com is the same as uk.com etc. The .com.de is technically a subdomain of .de which is a "completely different kettle of fish" to de.com and .de, where the de.com is a subdomain of .com, not .de, and controlled by an entrepreneur rather than the .de registrar. This is why .com.de (controlled by .de register is different to de.com).

You mentioned de.com in an earlier post justifying why @asxforum's kaffe.com.de had no value. But as explained above, it's my assumption that .com.de is owned by the .de registrar, and de.com is owned by some entrepreneur who managed to register de in the .com registrar.
