Hi,

Around 8 hours ago, I sent 90$ to @Buy.name in order to purchase shop.ws domain name... because like he said to me from PM, that the highest bidder didn't paid 100$, and then he purposed to me to get it for 90$.

Full post here:
Hi TheBuyerz

I want the Shop.ws domain name to receive money early - The highest bidder rejected my current BIN of $ 100.
.

If you want to get the Shop.ws domain name immediately and don't need to wait any longer, I will lower the BIN price to $ 90. And you can own Shop.ws now after the transaction is completed.

If you agree to trade immediately. Please pay to your paypal account: [email protected]

Note: Immediately after payment, please submit your account name and ID information at your Namesilo.com here, so that I can push the Shop.ws domain name to your account immediately. Pushing the Shop.ws domain name to a new account takes only 1 minute, very quickly

Currently, I have unlocked the Shop.ws domain name and am ready to push right away.

Auction in question: https://www.namepros.com/threads/shop-ws.1178201/

I just opened a dispute on Paypal in order to receive a refund ! I made a big mistake to not suggest using intermidiare like DAN.COM to complete this transaction...

I insited from him to push the domain name into my account, and received this message from him:

Sorry for making you wait. Shop.ws is a special type of domain name and every time I push Shop.ws through my new account, I get Namesilo's notice that the push for this type of domain will be done manually. Please wait patiently, I know Shop.ws will be pushed to your account within 1 day.

Namesilo notices
The domain name is in the process of transferring to a new account

Because Shop.ws is the domain name ending in .ws
So the transfer process will be handled manually by Namesilo staff.
Verification takes place from 24h to 48h

But it is certainely a lie, I never hear something like this before ... pushing domain names on namesilo is instant between their own user accounts.

Do this forum can help to get a refund from that scammer ?
Or receive enough datas from him in order to take legal proceedings using IP etc... ?

Yes sir, but we talked about an instant transfer after making the payment.

And do not know too much about how PayPal react for this kind of situation in case of scam !

Especially that the user has no feedbacks yet and it's a new account.

If bidder (@lotk) didn't honor the BIN, that didn't raise any red flags to you?

Such as, why wouldn't @lotk honor the BIN? What did @lotk know that you didn't.

Thus, I mention red flags.

As to me, I would have considered contacting @lotk, to ask why he did not buy.

Have you reached out to @lotk yet?

In my limited experience with @lotk, he's a stand-up member of the community, that has always honored his word. Thus, if he didn't honor the BIN, I would have wondered why, prior to sending a new member funds, especially given the surrounding circumstances.

No I didn't reached him, and tbh I was about to do it but unfortunately my current work prevented me from that (lack of time).

I paid him about 12 hours ago (when I posted sold @ bin). He is a scammer as I suspected. I will be issuing a chargeback.

Just email namesilo and confirm. Sounds like no big deal.

Imagine how I feel when someone buys my name and it is on transfer lock. Thank goodness they wait. I get a bit embarrassed.

Be patient.

So we received the same message !

Do my credit card issuer can block this transaction ?

That's too bad.

As you see how fast he replied, that could have prevented you from sending funds.

Hopefully, you did NOT pay friends and family, and that nobody else was affected.

Not sure how long your funds will be tied up. But give it time, if you didn't pay via friends and family, it's highly likely paypal will find in your favor.

@Buy.name was scamming everyone... Luckily it was not for that much money but I did dispute the transaction with Paypal and will call them in the morning. I'm sure they will refund my funds (they already made more than $100 in fees from me today).

I suspected it tbh honest but like I said my work really played here :(

I paid as: Paying for an item or service (And it's the only option on my account)

I don't know much about how PayPal manage this situation or if the seller already used them etc. do you have infos about this please ?

Thanks again

I was skeptical as well but I've been skeptical before and there is usually not an issue 90% of the time. I'm attaching my entire conversation with this person (1 to 4)

The more information you can give them the better.

Send them links to the auction thread, to this thread, and either get with LotK via DM or publicly, to share PayPal dispute numbers, so their dispute department can more easily tie the scammer to multiple victims.

It's been confirmed by another, that he did sell it for the initial $100 price. And gave you, and the buyer (@lotk) the same excuse.

I'd say you can relax a bit now. It's been reported. I know this situation can be stressful. But breath. It'll all be OK.

Dam.. sry about your luck guys. There is no wait on .ws pushes, I have done and they are instant, just like the rest of the domains at Namsilo.

Stuff like this, I think really we should be vetting our buyers and sellers better on the NP marketplace. 2-3 months, preferably 6 months, minimum join date. Like running an auction not allowing participants below that threshold. An bidding in an auction, have the seller push first before sending payment. Just as examples.

Hope you get your monies back guys.

It would prevent quite a bit but not all of it.

Just a week or so ago, I got an urgent pm from an old user. Very old user (member since 2009). They asked to borrow some money to pay for an auction. Said I would be paid back within a day, with interest.

I didn't think much of it and sent the money via paypal.

The person disappeared. I only sent one pm asking if they were okay and letting them know not to stress if they needed more time. I got no reply.

Next thing I know, Mod Alpha or whatever, chimes into the conversation that the member had done it to others and got some violation. The member hasn't come back.

Moral....use extra caution.

Sorry to you guys that got scammed here.

@Silentptnr

So, mods can access PMs between members?

True, and I know it would dissuade a lot of newcomers who might otherwise have good intentions. At the same time, it could put value on loyalty to the NP platform, knowing rewards come with being patient.

I always hate a couple bad apples ruining it for the bunch, and was never one for throwing all in the same barrel because of it.

Whoa. Was the member active or did he appear out of the blue?
And great advice, of course.
