I hope that you are right, but I feel we really don't know. The fact that even with extreme measures to try to control in China, there are so many cases, and that in some other regions (like parts of Italy) it has recently started spreading rapidly, is of concern.

This article via the World Economic Forum compares it to SARS and MERS. The number of cases of COVID-19 has grown much faster and to more total cases, but at least so far the fatality rate is lower for COVID-19 (although still significant).

I can think of some reasons why people fear Covid-19:
1. The incubation period was as long as 27 days.
2. Those infected can be asymptomatic, but can infect other people (i.e. hidden sources). That's why everyone should wear surgical face masks.
3. It is spread much faster than SARS and flu.
4. It can be spread via many ways such as respiratory droplets and contact with infected surfaces or objects.
5. There is currently no vaccine or specific antiviral treatment.
6. The fatality rate is higher than the flu's rate.
7. The fatality rate and the number of confirmed cases may be understated by governments for political and economic reasons.
8. The cured people can be infected again.
9. Infected people's lungs may lose part of functionality forever.
10. It starts spreading over the world with no sign of stopping the spread.


Btw, it is good to know that Coronavirus.com is redirected to WHO website. I hope it will not be available for sale in the future.

Surgical masks are good only if:
1. You change it every 1-2 hours;
2. You do not put your hand on it after you put it on.

Healthy people will never die from corona virus. The death rate shows that the majority of the people who died are above 60+ years old and suffer from other diseases as well.
Stop making corona virus the apocalypse. You are just creating panic and fear.

If you have asthma as a person, then yes, you should be afraid because it is a deathly disease, if you are healthy, it is just a regular flu.

There is panic because the corona virus can affect RICH people as well, were as hunger, cannot.
People die from hunger daily in Africa.
People get AIDS every day because they are not buying a freakin` condom...

I think forwarding the domain name to WHO is more helpful to visitors than showing advertising links, selling products that may not be helpful, sharing inaccurate information, or doing something else that is either unhelpful or harmful. GoDaddy could have sold the domain name or continued to monetize it after it acquired the portfolio.

I doubt it is a "marketing ploy" as you suggested, but the company would probably prefer to see an article like the one I wrote rather than something like "GoDaddy Trying to Profit from Coronavirus."

GoDaddy could have sold the domain name or continued to monetize it post-acquisition, but the optics would probably have been bad.

I very much doubt godaddy are a selfless, charitable company. Every indicator points to them being greedy cunts. They just want to get recognition and rep, just like every company that changed their logo to a rainbow version during june (like they give a shit)

But you are right that it's more helpful to visitors as a side effect.

I think it could have been a reputational hit if larger media companies wrote articles discussing how GoDaddy was monetizing it and/or looking to sell the domain name.

GoDaddy is not trying to profit from Coronavirus otherwise they’ll quickly spread a few PR / Article/ Announcements / Ads. So far only TechStartups publish a copy cat article (Domaininvesting)

I was not creating panic and fear. All I said are facts about the coronavirus. Someone may not be afraid, but some may. If you think I was creating panic and fear, it means you admit that the coronavirus is not simple.

I doubt whether healthy people will never die as there are a few patents aged 10-39 died, but you are right that young and healthy people are much less likely to die if infected. However, I hope you should note the fact that there are many old people in the world due to aging population. Besides, healthy people can still be infected. Once they are infected, they can infect old and unhealthy people. If they think like you that don't need to fear and don't do any precautionary measures, their old and unhealthy family members will be infected from them because of their selfish behavior and naive mind.

Suitable level of panic and fear can increase people's awareness of personal hygiene that can help stop the spread of coronavirus, while "no need to fear" message helps spread the coronavirus.

I think we are off topic, and I will stop discussing the coronavirus-related matters.

Who says they are not monetizing. They are redirecting to a corrupt org with big pockets. We don't know what really is happening.

if the virus is successful the domain will be but at same time kill off the potential buyers. If population actually suffered selling any domain is going to be a problem. The dumbest thing to do in an apocalypse would be to rob a bank where do you spend the money? Either everyone lives and we are all still in business or everyone dies and every name becomes meaningless.

Today many traffic source come related coronavirus ,its reasonable to have a strong domain in corona, optimize with SEO or advertise to drive traffic for another target

There are some corona domain we can plan for, but many corona domain that are out of our control. We couldn't plan for those domains out of our control, we can only prepare a domain name
