It doesn't work when domains are not parked there.

In my experience when parked, you would either only get very low offers, or ok offers, but they wouldn't get paid. So no sale is possible.

People praised it a lot, so I tried it with part of my domains but it doesn't work.

Maybe because sellers' info is given to buyers before payment.
.......
So maybe we should use "better" contact info. How about this: Elsa from Sweden: Would this be irritating to any buyer.

Interesting info! Thanks for the insight.

Only Afternic/GoDaddy works without parking.

i think most people will agree that without parking there, sales happen rarely... which of course doesn't mean they never happen... but its nothing like gd.

however, if you do park there... well... here is how i see it:

dan.com claims to be on constant evolution curve... in terms of their revenues, interface etc.. there is only one way to understand this.. that they procesing tons of sales... sadly, sometimes, it can mean that some domainers may not be getting much sales there.. and not really be apart of this evolution.

I'm not sure Dan is really in a conflict of interest,
As far as I know, they have 2 seller profiles, and these are not .com's (Less than 1k domains)

But here is a free tip if you still would like to use a closed platform,
When possible, give a way to the potential buyer to contact you directly, interaction is key. (Don't use "Private seller" as username)
If the seller has any question and finds directly a way to contact you, chances are that he will try.
From there, you can start negociating and trying to close the sale.

I was suggesting using nickname and nicklocation to avoid discrimination. You can change them anytime, and these changes would take effect immediately everywhere including invoices. So use fake but "likeable" name and location until payment is made, and change it if necessary after payment. And I suppose billing data can be completely different and remain fixed, when "seller" data is changed.
At Sedo you can't change the country.

Dan has been the most consistent for me, but it’s also likely because I’ve used their landers most consistently. I’ve had 76 sales (paid, not counting fakes) in 3 years there, and a little more than half have been “make offer.” But I agree - none of those have been on names that weren’t parked there.

Their landers are the cleanest, don’t typically get blocked by adblockers, they move fast, pay fast, and have low commissions. They keep developing their platform and I look forward to seeing new options for landers. Their messaging system is great — I’ve had a handful of sales come from leads gone cold, when I followed up a few weeks later with a counter offer or a message.

Still figuring out what the best formula overall is, but right now what makes sense for me is parking everything on Dan, and listing everything with BINs on Afternic (and maybe Sedo, though, frankly, I give up on them most of the time because of their slow verification system).

I had my biggest sale at Dan and they managed that well.

nice
but someone did actually just lately post on the main dan thread, that there is some as blocking going on. i think they're fixin it.

if i can ask:
- do u have all makeoffer on your dan landers?
- what is roughly your folio size to get these results u mention?
- what roughly is your avg sale price per name?
- mostly older names or newly regged?
ty for info

p,s. as I said in my other post here, many people have little sucess on dan... even with parking there... but I think if dan.com says they are experiencing continual huge growth, then we must all conclude, they are going in right direction .. and we are just in the less lucky bunch :)

Its depend on DAN user experince globally , some user says DAN work fine to sell domain , then other user tell if DAN dosn't work well in another case.

I've gone back and forth between make offer and BIN, but always leaning toward BIN. I've recently re-priced most of my names including at Dan, and 99% have the new lease-to-own option on which disables make offer -- so I expect no more offers lol. (Though I did also recently just turn on the "redirect to internal landers" option which seems to enable the chat bubble, so theoretically if someone wants to make an offer they'll reach out to support. I'm curious to see if that ever happens.)

Portfolio size fluctuates, I just crossed 3000 names but more than half are 99c .co recyclables.

Avg. sale price at Dan is just over $1k. I used to be somewhat aggressive with counteroffers but I felt like I was leaving money on the table so I've become more lenient, cash flow is cash flow.

Most of my pickups are closeouts and xxx auctions, though I've stopped buying at auctions in the last few months, but still have a good chunk of names I bought in my 2017-18 spree. We'll see how things unfold this year, but I've recently moved back into hand-regs and acquiring rather few other names privately, auctions just aren't really worth it anymore.

I get both good offers and bad offers at Dan. And sales, of course.

It's not their fault if you don't sell. That's who your potential customers are, the ones using your landers. Change prices and/or domains.

Furthermore I think their service is OK for the extra % involved as opposed to selling on your own landers. They take away hassle on following the buyer for whoever wants a lighter involvement as possible.
