The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Just used Epik Escrow to sell the domain revitalizing.com to a buyer. The entire deal (including transfer between registrars) happened all within an hour.

That's by far the fastest Escrow / domain transfer / sale I've ever had!

Thanks Matt. And it was free -- buyer and seller are well known both industry veterans so it is as riskless a deal as one finds in this industry Congrats to buyer and seller.

We use Docusign now for digital contracts where people sign purchase and sale agreements that they draft. We route those for free but we are not providing legal advise. We provide templates that buyers and sellers are free to edit, and then we enforce their agreement. We do this without fee.

As you know, banks here in India often ask for transaction particulars when international wires come in to the account. I use Adobe Sign to send the agreement to the buyer for signature and forward it to the bank when they ask for further details.

Automating the agreement with the particulars of the transaction and sending it to the buyer for signature as part of the escrow would be nice. Before sending the doc, maybe we could have options to add clauses such as NDA etc.

Epik could have standard disclaimers as necessary.

I wouldn't mind paying fees over the standard escrow for such a feature.

I think you will find that a PDF closing statement for the transaction is sufficient to satisfy the banking diligence requests from the Indians banks. We have not had issues. India is usually paid via Transferwise in INR and we have seen zero problems there. However, the feedback is noted, and I think we will fully integrate a digital signature workflow into the escrow dashboard using the SignDeck blockchain when it comes online later this year. It should solve a lot of issues while also allowing the option of domain owners to have a fully auditable record of change of title where buyer and seller can own domains privately but still be able to prove ownership using private keys.

By the way, I see a similar story unfolding with dispute resolution where you can have 2 anonymous parties in a transaction where the transaction is governed by a smart contract. The identity of buyer and seller are both anonymous to each other and even anonymous to Epik. However, if either party initiates a dispute and the counter-party does not resolve the dispute within a prescribed period, the identity of the buyer and seller is disclosed to each other. This can all be governed by autonomous smart contracts.

You might say: why is this cool? Well, imagine a situation where you have a contract at Docusign that you think is confidential. Now, imagine that Docusign is subpoenaed. Guess what? They will produce your private documents:

https://www.docusign.com/legal/law-enforcement

Oppsie-daisy.

So a Blockchain-based Digital Signature framework offers the prospect of autonomous anonymity where only the counter-parties in the agreement are able to see the document. The idea is not revolutionary but the idea that everyone can have it for free just might be.

Just had my first Escrow transaction at Epik.com. The funds were transferred to my bank account in Pakistan without any issues whatsoever.

It was a large transaction - at least for my standard.

It would be an understatement to say that I am thoroughly pleased not just by the service itself on the surface, but also by the lengths that Rob goes to in order to help you out.

I am utterly impressed and fascinated by how Rob can manage both at Macro and at the Micro level. How can someone manage an entire enterprise but at the same time be approachable by an individual? I have no idea!

I truly wish that every CEO in our industry was as kind, polite, helpful and genuinely concerned about the parties involved as he is.

Not only did he supervise the entire deal, he also went an extra mile by helping us tie any legal loose ends to protect us both from a "train wreck" - as he put it - in the future.

My buyer and I decided to choose Epik Escrow service after we experienced ugly hiccups at Escrow.com but as of now I plan to stick with Epik Escrow for the foreseeable future.

URGENT @Rob Monster Verisign + ICANN trying to to stealthily increase .com price since January 3rd. Just received email from (only) Dynadot regarding this today. Only 6 days left to oppose this attack, and there's only 100++ comments on this, even less than the number of comments during the .org attack. If possible, please inform all your members regarding this matter so that all can comment/oppose it.

I have to say that the comment thread has to be the most pathetic execution of a commenting thread that could possibly be implemented. @Andee Hill should maybe advocate for their UX to come out of the stone age. This particular UX looks like it is from 1995 and has not been updated:

https://mm.icann.org/pipermail/comments-com-amendment-3-03jan20/2020q1/thread.html

It is as if the comment section is entirely ceremonial flag-waving with no scope for social engagement where it becomes convenient to read and amplify what others have written. The comments get submitted through an external mail client. Archaic. Goran and team should feel embarrassed by it.

Well, they are not stupid so one possible conclusion is that they don't want to hear from you anyway. You are far better off engaging in the court of public opinion. See here:

https://www.namepros.com/threads/have-you-hugged-your-whois-privacy-provider-today.1162503

Most of the content on the ICANN site is a Snoozefest so if you want to turn the tide against a policy that you think harms humanity, posting on a list-serve to be reviewed by policy makers is far from earthshaking. Want to shake the earth? Distill the main talking points about why it is bad, and spread THAT.

"I was a virgin Epik Escrow user."

- Not Anymore

How did I not know of this service before?

What a ride.
All in 24 hours!

High priced domain name.
My buyer wanted to do CC.

Escrow.com says no way. ($>5K)

Buyer asks for Paypal. (RED FLAGS!!!)

Dig into new services.
Who do I find?

EPIK.
They have escrow.

I set up the transaction and within 24 hours:
  • The buyer's payment is complete
  • The domain is transferred to EPIK.
  • The payment is in my account from Rob and his amazing team (Tony, Jessica) within a day's time.
That is the power of a great team, and a solid system for powering domain sales.

I'll be back. Again. And again.

More process automation coming to further compress these cycles and keep stakeholders apprised and on track. The technology impact to this area is just beginning but the pieces are falling into place rapidly.

Depends on currency/country, but we do wires at cost.

ACH is free.

Transferwise is usually just a few dollars.

@Ala Dadan What do you think how would be if add notifications on the domain portfolio page this way?

Thanks @NetPark - that is some subtle genius right there.

We have been looking at ecosystem-wide solutions. There will be, for example, a browser plugin but also a single-sign-on. I was just this last week asking the engineers for a unified framework for notifications in terms of how notifications are managed centrally in terms of subscribe and unsubscribe. I had not actually considered about the UX, but I think you nailed it -- 2 levels of notifications. Nice work.

Actually I do not use plugins as possible because most browser plugins also monitor traffic on other websites. That is why I think UX improvements would be more logical.

Great input. We are reviewing it with @Ala Dadan and @vitigo.

A new master dashboard is also coming with integrated notifications. Preview here.

Looks great! Especially Masterbucks figures :xf.wink:

Separated counts of internal and external domains and quick links has been very good

@Gube @DanSanchez

I accepted buyer's offer three days ago but there is no any update on the status of transaction. Do I need to do any action on the new Marketplace dashboard?

It would be good if all system updates like notifications and reminders sent to the buyer appeared on the sellers dashboard.

Actually, already handled via PM. This was a marketplace transaction, not an escrow transaction. The seller got a bid, and accepted the bid but the buyer did not follow through. We are chasing the buyer and adding some more automated processes for chasing prospects on either side of the trade. @NetPark should be all set.

It's done now.

We are working on some more process automation there. However, BTC redemptions, as yours was, are probably always going to be subject to some human review.

Very confusing UI I don't see an option to list a domain. Also the signup I had to reinput a new username & captcha every time I chose a name because it wasn't available that's annoying, why is there no system to check on input?
