Question,

I recently noticed a name of mine that Expired on 2/2/2020 * 8 days ago)

Will debating to renew or not I have noticed the WHOIS Already shows + 1 year date of 2021

I never caught on to this before but does this mean ( a TELL), That someone has placed or there IS A BACK ORDER Placed on the name?

Registrar is Godaddy!

If this is the case it is good to know when renewing names!

Thanks

also The name is a .org if that matters

No I don't think this means that somebody placed a backorder.

As far as I know, sometimes it shows at certain registrars that the whois shows expiry date is next year, alhough it is this year !!! Beware for that : The most important is to look if the domain is (expired) but especially "pending renewal" at this time in the whois. If you see pending renewal or in renewal period and a date of next year : don't trust thinking it's registerred till next year, though the date you see is next year.
If you didn't renew this particular domain you mention at godaddy now, I think you have still few days to TRANSFER the DOMAIN to another registrar, if you find the domain wurthy to keep. At THIS TIME : if you want to renew this domain at GDDY, you have to pay an extra fee of 80 USD. But not everybody knows that you can transfer out (and only pay to the transfer at the new registrar at 10-12 USD (including 1 extra year) depending from registrar to registrar (whithout having to pay extra fee) the domain still a long time after expiry (I think 26 or 29 days after expiry) at Godaddy I mean.

Thank you Good point why it's always good to double check your dates in your account register and yes I have used this neat trick to avoid the $80 fee I usually just transfer to Uni for $10.88 wonder if and how the recent Take Over of Uni by GDDY will effect that.

I don't know how the new UNI works for the moment. I should check or take contact with them.
