Would you post your dev. mini-site(s) please?

Like many other Npers, I am looking towards developing some of my better domains, rather than leaving them in declining PPC. I would really appreciate seeing some examples of 3-5 page mini-sites with Adsense, Adbrite etc that Npers have developed for their domains.

I'm not asking for postings of Whypark, Imodo etc mini-sites, as these types of sites are covered elsewhere in other threads. I'm hoping to see some (inspirational..) examples of mini-sites developed from scratch or using available templates. If you'd like to showcase or share, I hope you post some links to your sites. Thanks in advance.

Mod Edit: No more than five live links per post.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
So do you guys use mini-sites on EMD's with expired traffic and do you have better results than plain parking?, or you just go and promote it, as that seems too much of an effort for a revamp on micro niche sites that went nowhere fast.

I have tried a few minisites without really setting the world on fire, but then again i have never really made money from parking so nothing's really changed other the ability to grow a site, where as with parking you are locked in to the landing page. I think it needs to be worked out if you want that name to be expanded on more? Is it going to be worth the effort?

I am starting to enjoy developing micro sites. I've been using Wordpress or Blogspot, and the latest mini site is ClassicNBA.com. I havent monetized the site, and I've posted it as an example because it was the product of less than two hours. It is just put a few basic fan related pages and videos for now, but the fact that we can produce a developed site that quickly is encouraging. After years of struggling to come up with development plans, we've settled on the resources mentioned above. My conclusion, after almost a decade of domaining and suffering through the accompanying growing pains, is that microsites are the key to portfolio growth and aging domains (for my wife and I). We plan to put the monetization aspect on the back burner for a bit, while we focus on development and content. One other thought-these forums are great for new developers for us, with lots of good examples for formatting, resources, and new ideas.

@ericpkearns - you should look up how to forward your blogger site to your "custom" domain name ... still showing as classicnba.blogspot, com ...

Lol. Thanks Kpett, but that was kind of my point: anything we want to learn is readily available with a quick google search, and most of this info is free. The resources and tools we have at our disposal now are amazing (wordpress, blogger, etc). I don't spend a lot of time on forums, but this one is by far my favorite. Lots of positive people who know how tough domaining and developing is for beginners. And lots of resources for every level of experience (and financial restraints). For someone like me, this is a great hobby. I am enjoying developing my portfolio, and learn something new every day.

Hi ericpkearns,

Thank you for posting your site and bringing this thread back up.
It is a great read.

Sorry, it's a little of the old proof reader in me, just a little heads up...
I hate to nit pick, but he was kind of one of my favs, even though he played for the Sixers.

It is a great read.
Yes it is and this thread was a great read..lurked a lot of hours!

@ericpkearns
Just checked out your site (I have about 100 "sites" on blogger).

If I may give some feedback..(my opinion kinda of feedback)

(1) Colors/colours do not go great with that classic wood background..oe maybe the black font what makes it "weird"

(2) Since the header the first thing that people see...I would the look (add a line between Domain name and tagline)..change the Font to something less "hard".. Here is kinda of what I am talking about!

Thanks Briguy... Probably a similar end game in mind, as I have 50 or so sites on Blogger at various stages. You can probably relate to this: I've spent much more time focused on writing content than on site design and color scheme, etc., out of necessity (it's a lot of work on top of my actual job and raising a family). I finally got to the point where I am just writing and getting it done when it comes to content generation, but the variables you referenced in regards to design and appearance are a work in progress on all of my sites. When it comes to that sort of mindset (the development workload), do you set goals or just crank out as much content as you can when you can? I'm trying to do five sites a week, but my job keeps getting in the way. If you can, tell me more about your sites and how you got there. And, where your development project is headed from here, if you don't mind.

Understandable...I am the opposite, I work on layout first, (of course I start with one basic posting then layout!

Just a few tips (random) that come to mind..

After layout is finalized, I will do a few postings, and schedule them a few days apart, I always have images in posting (lots of traffic from "Google Images) !

I will either have "one or two" posting shown on home page

I try to work on one blog (do as much as I can)..then when I have free time, work on another!

I add keywords in "label" (tags), the tags get their page!

Also have a "blog search" in top fold (part of blog that is seen before you have to scroll down)

Make sure template are also mobile friendly..

Is it poor form to list links to a few of your sites so i can check them out? (I'd like to see a couple if it's not against forum rules to post more than one site link). I also checked out your Ebay domain name auctions....do you have success on Ebay selling domains? Any suggestions there?

There are a few rules regarding links
https://www.namepros.com/threads/official-rules-of-namepros.848752/
But regarding your question about me posting links to my blogs, it is allowed.

I tried to find one of my blogs that had a similar template to yours, the closest that I could find is one of my oldest blogs that gets majority of it views from Google images and the social media sites that I belong too (it adapted for those kind of sites) and started in 2009 to drive traffic/back links for my oldest website .. As for the other question..sent you a PM

Wow! When I first made the original post back in August 2008, I never imagined that it would still be going strong over 10 years later! I'm really enjoying re-reading this thread and the recent updates.

Having a little experience with minisites, I couldn't resist a comment about that site classicnba.
YUK!
My suggestions for any further mini/microsite development.
1/ Forget using Blogger.com
2/ Learn how-to use a CMS like Wordpress or Joomla!
3/ Learn how-to layout sites.
4/ See a professional about your colour-blind vision.
or
5/ Take up quilting or pottery.

examples of simple and quickly constructed Minisites as an example of what could be done instead of UGLY garish Blogger sites.
Both sites were done in less than 30 minutes.

http://minisite.net.au Wordpress

http://minisite.info Bootstrap/Html/CSS also easily done <<2 minute site

Not really

BTW I create joomla! minisites Like those I listed and sell them for $75 to $150USD

Plus at end of 12 months the minisite is worth the purchase price Plus added value based on the 12mths income. So could be resold for a nice profit

Another advantage of minisite's over park pages , Very hard to promote Parked domains due to TOS of Parking sites. Minisites can be linked, advertised, promoted whichever way you want , your choice , without any restrictive rules.

Any outstanding minisite you worked on?

Thanks to whoever bumped this thread. Been an interesting read.

So what's a good place to get content for a mini site?

Here are some of the automated affiliate mini-sites I have developed (ups, it did not allow me to put a link) well you can see the place to go to on my Avatar :xf.wink:

Saying that they are really feature-rich and easy to manage as well as brings loads of value for a domain itself. I have found that this is really the best way to monetize "Promising" domains.

The good news, I am also doing it for others, if anyone interested.

Cheers!

Making some sites using WordPress. Just a few day's need. I have already made 5 sites consisting of 7-8 pages per site.

Just wondering why most of the sites posted are no longer resolving or are pointing to parked pages.

IMHO, mini sites are a waste of time and money. Develop full websites. Spend all resources available to you on a single site that you have vetted and can see clear business potential. Once that is developed, move on to the next site/domain. If you don't have a vision for it for at least the next 5 years, don't bother developing it. Mini sites are simply spamming the search indexes and never get any bumps in the SERPs.

Yes, I made the same consideration.
Moreover monetizing ministe in general means monetizing through Adsense; but now Adsense approval is hard to get. So all efforts to attract traffic don't pay off.
And then or you create a reliable website or it is better to park the domain.

I have a load but are all a waste of time as unless you're prepared to focus on one thing and build it to make money. If you dream of selling domains then be a domainer. I could post lists of sites i have built which are mostly webmaster resourses as hate just making sites for no satisfaction. I dont really use site builders i have one at wix. I am interested if these mini sites of others are earners.

http://www.traffic.tips

http://www.trafficlocate.com
http://www.webmaster.software
I have even more sites dedicated to webmasters but are more than mini sites.
All made in spare time as my work committments are 55 hours a week before i do any of this.
I have blogs also with 1000's pages. I do like the thought that there could be some turnkey option whitelabel mini sites. Some domains do react well to small development and will receive 100x the traffic because of it but even still it isn't really developed and offers only an indication of capabilities of domains. Anyone buying these mini sites will be more traffic focused than the domain name which always equates to you could have done more. I just see buyers getting bargains as there is always effort involved.
