Say, as an example, you register the domain name weaponry.com but there is already another company operating under the name weaponary.com. Is this similarity likely to be an issue with trademarks? Also, if that's the case, wouldnt weaponry.com be worth alooot less since you cant expect to use it violation of those trademarks?

It seems like that would eliminate countless domains with otherwise high potential.

Unless or until the new domain doesn't belong to the same industry / business similar to the trademarked one , there should be no problem.
But I would advise you not to involve with trademarked domains , as it will always bring you trouble & you will have to face the consequences , fight to retain your rights on it .
Considering the risk , time , effort & money involved in fighting with a trademarked domains , I would stay away from it :)

I know for a fact that if one attempted to register cme.io and call it crypto mercantile exchange, they would definitely get a cease and desist from CME group. That acronym can be trademarked is a little ridiculous.

You are right , acronyms shouldn't be trademarked , but people do get register TMs for those & claim to be owners for those terms , which is very non-sense.

If weaponry dot com became a brand of sunglasses you wouldn't have a problem. Eg TM is explosives ammo.

Similarity Will Be IF Same Domain... It will be huge pain.

But...

IF you are in total different domain... Let's say THEY have a web-store and then you make a Youtube or Blog...

Then it is all ok like a solider.

IMO.

Do you guys think tokery and tokenry would have issues if they're both blockchain related? These seem like awfully generic terms. I did search the government database for any "tokery" trademarks and I didn't see anything.

For Sure.

In SAME Biz. DOMAIN then you got deep issues...

Confusion For Public May Get Created IN THE EYE OF THE JUDGE OVER AT THE URDP PROCESS...
