I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Sorry, while I have the weekly tbr lists going back into 2006, I don't routinely record winning bid prices on auctions I didn't win.

Slacker.

Thanks guys.

I was mainly looking for examples of big companies (in Canada) that have use LL domains but were never reported on namebio (like YP.ca and WW.ca).

I think most others were reported, like IA.ca (industrial alliance), DT.ca (direct travel), IG.ca (investors group), etc. I did some spot checking but couldn't really find any other interesting ones.

Yeah, to be honest, I don't like seeing wholesale sales data being reported anyways... I don't want people inquiring about my domains to know what I paid for them.

I can understand, and to be clear i wasn't looking for prices, just examples of other big companies using LL.ca. They're easy to find when they're reported so i was wondering if anyone knew of examples not reported. I learned of WW.ca from the Weight Watchers commercials on tv, for example.

Anyway, I think you understood but just saying in case there's any confusion.

I found a few! lol

Volkswagon Canada uses VW.ca.

General Motors uses GM.ca

I guess there's also TD.ca, which comes as kinda obvious now.

I'm sure there's quite a few more. I also wouldn't be surprised if those above all sold for a lot more than the top sales on namebio.

I wonder if Facebook will ever go after FB.ca. They got the .com but maybe that’s all they want/need. They haven’t started going after other cctlds yet as far as I can tell.

I think a lot of these big companies must have used NDA’s but that’s just speculation. A & W is another one using AW.

Nice one! And yeah, these companies scream NDAs...

Presidents Choice uses PC.ca

LG uses LG.ca

Kinda surprised Air Canada doesn’t own AC.ca

Kinda surprised Air Canada doesn’t own AC.ca

They're too busy asking for taxpayer handouts funded by hip-pocket politicians.

Just look at Bombardier - with the billions upon billions doled out over the years, if we just would have paid their employees to stay at home and do nothing, the country would have saved money and they'd still be contributing to the economy.

When I noticed VW using vw.ca some time ago, I figured they had made a deal with CIRA to buy it from them. When did two letter .CAs become available? I didn't think they were always available.

I think most of them were gone before CIRA even took over, (like pre-2000) and it was business-only use, but many domain investors got around that using innovative methods.

Some low-end ones might have snuck through to the CIRA takeover, but I'd imagine they would go fast after that.

I can't understand why a company like Canadian Tire wouldn't buy CT.ca, as I just hate typing in all that crap when I want to look for something, especially on a phone.

CT is not resolving and registered at MyId. Another “Bermuda Triangle” perhaps??

At a bar drinking with friends and they came up with two more good ones:

CN.ca (CN rail)
HP.ca (Hewlett-Packard)

That’s a great one. A lot of these are only used as a redirect but most often advertised in the LL.ca format.

All those LL.ca's are incredible time-savers when you just want to check something on the site, which is why I absolutely hate CanadianTire.ca as a site name for such a large company in 2020.

I use FB.com all the time and lot of the other shortcuts.

When did two letter .CAs become available?

This question really makes me wish that CIRA left the original registration dates on there when it took over, rather than just whitewashing everything with a "2000", like .CA didn't exist before them.

To Be Released (TBR) Weekly .CA Picks for February 26, 2020

The .CA numbers may have jumped by over a thousand domains, but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Over 1500 of those were mixed 3-character junkers that were unceremoniously dumped onto the TBR, thus falsely inflating both the quality and quantity of this week’s list. It is not a good recap for premium domains, to say the least, and although we’ve still compiled Top Picks list, keep in mind it’s all relative and these are simply the best .CAs we could find. The list includes...

Sure this Week Sucks but Read It Anyway!

I wonder what TBR domain is worth it this week to bid $360 on at NamesPro?
