Many Members here know that the Want to Buy Section is a Joke as they keep posting but did not buy anything.

One simple solution would be if you are the sellers and sold names from the WTB section just post "1 sold" from the thread so that people will know if the Buyer is real Buyer or Fake Buyer.

Hi

imo…

they can be, because nobody else asked them

imo..

which domainers?

and do they take a vote?

and... for every category or subject, is there enough of a "market", to have a "floor" price?

imo...

really why do you think LLLL.com went up to $300+ and now down to $100 instead of $30 in 2014 because Of what Chinese domainers decided to buy a few for xxxx now everyone with LLLL thinks their domains are worth xxxx so the market went up and domainers are selling them for about $100 because people are not buying them anymore so the prices drop.

You guys control the market!

It's funny how wide spread this is, with new and "experienced" domainers.

You can even look at the customer name requests at BrandBucket (I use them as an example as they filter many of the least experienced we see here on NP - not meant negatively towards anyone and certainly not scientific - I'm trying to find a general way to make the sample size smaller) .

No matter what the customer specifies - the same 25-50 names are there - doesn't matter if the customer budget is $2,500 or $50,000 - same nonsense names everytime.

I boil it down to like looking at the show your "Category Killer" type threads here on NP..... I wonder if some even take the time to understand what a category is - nevermind they have the "Category Killer". There is such a tremendous knowledge gap - that seems impossible to fill, even free here of Sherpa, etc..

There has to be a financial barrier, even minute, to force self-filtering. Right now, many are realizing their "category killer" (?) 9 letter brandable . news domain is garbage. And the shotgun method at free ways to sell is used, the inexperience shows in lack of effort to even list the "category killers" on afternic or sedo or anywhere.

We have to have a market that costs (deposit, whatever) to get to participate - or has a cost (maybe banning) if rues are violated.

Otherwise - it's the wild west of selling & why would they stop? they don't seem to take the time to learn the business - just looking for a lottery ticket. IMO

the thing that annoys me the most is that people submit names even when the request is total dog***t - just makes them look desperate and encourages these tools to keep submitting their joke requests.....

I have sold 2 domains at reseller price. one for $105 and another for $150.
I watch the thread for buyers that specifically want something different like domains starting with bitcoin etc

It is true that most of them do not buy but it is not completely dead.

I have recently seen some joke posts like some one wanted dictionary .com domains for $1

I had a UK spelling of an example domain in range no reply more just to see if someone liquidates and they have a chance to fish though it first or buy 2nd best available options to ideas presented. You wonder for a moment if they won't trade with you when they had no intentions of getting near their top prices suggested.

The wanted section is largely a joke. From a seller perspective the cheapest people in the world routinely post requests. Take your $1 to $25 anywhere else and go buy names that aren’t hand regs. Good luck to you.

Bottom line is the same people who will bid up a name to $500 on Dropcatch will offer you a whopping $15 here. Its simply not worth the effort. Most domainers do not want to pay other domainers a real price. They'd rather wait for it to drop and fight over it in an auction when no one owns it.

On the other side of the coin, its also not worth it to ask for names because alot of utter garbage will be sent with maybe a few names that are gems.

Overall, the request area is broken from either perspective of a buyer or a seller. The actual for sale, bargain bin etc threads are more successful imo.

really why do you think LLLL.com went up to $300+ and now down to $100 instead of $30 in 2014

I haven't sold any LLLL for less than $300 in recent years
and bought some prior to 2014, which i paid more than $30 for.

domainers are selling them for about $100 because people are not buying them anymore so the prices drop.

You guys control the market!

the prices drop on the names held by those who can no longer afford to keep them
or those who don't see advantage in holding long term.

but try getting some LLLL.com from owners who don't fit those profiles for $100...
and you'll see a floor above the floor you live on, that's much higher.

imo...

I was using LLLL as an example and right there you just stated that domainers control the market
“try getting some LLLL.com from owners who don't fit those profiles for $100...

I mean it’s the same thing with brandables and BB BP
You have one brandable .com that’s worth reg fee to some then 2 weeks later it gets approved by one of the brandable markets and its value to domainers already a goes up $20+

you still control the market and that’s what I’m getting at.

you still control the market and that’s what I’m getting at.

the market, if there is one, exists because there is supply and demand activity, of varying degree's amongst the categories than can be clearly defined.

the market, is not a fixed place.
in it's entirety, of all that is, and all that can be....
still, you cannot show me how to get there.
there is no floor to step on.

however, domainers don't control it, they exist within, and provide additional energy to perpetuate the motion.

domainers, set pricing for their acquisitions within such "markets",
(at least for the time being, until they surrender that right to the bot)

registrars set pricing for reg fee names
and drop catchers/backorder houses set pricing for expiring bids.

all of that is motion that puts waves in the ocean, of what you "might" call a market
and domainers don't control it.

imo...

I am not talking about end users buying domains I’m talking about here at NP

If you have a domain what I am looking and the price is what I am paying then, of course, I will buy..

But, If I am looking CVVC with a maximum budget of $250 and all people send there random 4L than I can't buy.

I have bought names from many people & yes I have sold many names to other people I sold 25 names to single person for good chunk of money.

Getting very philosophical Don. I just dealt with a complete fool, the high end of the budget was just set to make the ask not look foolish but of course it was only looking to buy at the low end, the name submitted surpassed the quality of the high end of the budget.

It's good to see some sales from those posted here, I just think some listings need to be more specific. Like you have to say more than just pronounceable or brandable.

I just outright stopped posting requests.
It's like people don't even read the details....
Just SENDDDDDDDDDDDDD.
It's ridiculous
