Because then the domain may expire and then gets "sold", and I may be resposible for consequences.

So there should be an expiration for these prices.

It is extremely time consuming to edit prices.
If you add prices on 1000 domains, you have to spend hours to remove them. And it is also a very boring job.
............
On Sedo, when you click on a domain's details, you can decide which type of ads appear in what language (as if anyone cares, and it doesn't work either) , but you can't view or edit prices. The only thing we care about our listings at Sedo
is: Sale type. prices, and description. We can only change description, others can only be viewed under "my domains".

Sedo requests feedback all the time, but always totally ignore all feedback.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
if domain expires; then it’s probably not going to get “sold”? go one further; it wouldnt make past the “DropCatch” “SnapNames” nets, so question confuses me.

Look, Everyone has their “BIN” strategy;
popular consensus; BIN increases conversion;
no BIN, for reason you worry sell after expiry...

I think i’m going to set BIN only afternic..
and “make offer” everywhere else.
while having other lander, than afternic. (epik)
after figure biggest problem;set what prices :)

whatever strategy utilize, u have good sample
Good luck! let us know what works

Domain expires, it is still on my Sedo account, but not owned by me, and someone "buys" it but I can't sell it because I don't own it.

For example domain is about to expire, and I add $ 100 BIN price, and probably a domainer would sense that it wouldn't be renewed and wait for it to expire, but my purpose would be to invite endusers at the same time, and endusers act slowly and may "buy" when it is not possible anymore.
Then Sedo would send an email "Congratulations, ..please push it to our account.."

......................
A bigger problem with Sedo: Buyers don't make a second bid. This may be because most buyers are not endusers, or there is a traitor sending an email to the buyer : your bid was too high..

A typical scenario: makes 20 offer, and then 30 offer, then 50 offer, says this is my last offer, but doesn't pay; or pays but then you get real offer elsewhere.

or this:

they make 500 offer, you counter 1500, it is ignored, you drop price to 499 , still ignored.

All this suggests, endusers are not likley to bid at Sedo, they bid at Godaddy, Godaddy bids on Sedo on their customer's behalf, or they bid at their registrar, Domainagents bids..And we can never know who is really bidding.
...............................

How to fix this problem: List domain with buy now price everywhere, so everyone knows the price, but then the domain may expire.

what happens if you set bin at godaddy and sedo and they both sell at the same time. which buyer gets the domain? makes you look very bad.

I think you can sell in one of them, and pay the penalty in the another, so it would mean paying commissions in both. Unlikely scenario, unless you keep the domain in other marketplaces long after it is sold. I can take such a risk. We need a "list an forget" option. Currently only possible in make offer form, but then this would invite ugly games.

another thing to take into account is the commission.
-
sedo...lander with bin...10%...no lander-bin/make offer 15%...sedo mls partners-20%
-
godaddy/afternic network...with/without lander bin/makeoffer 20%

I am sure everyone has accidently advertised a domain they used to own before they start to really watch out and not do it again. Sucks to get a decent offer. One thing I do not do is try get involved in same name again.

It would require too much time.

Also an expired domain can be sold if not in redemption yet. Even in redemption it can be sold, but it may not be an actual sale , and just a trick to make you renew at an expensive price.

........
We all know how to multiply numbers, but we use a calculator to multiply 10 digit numbers.

It is still something you need to do what I find annoying is same platforms eg: domain expires or deleted in godaddy you will still have auction active. That at least should be linked.

A few unusual things which happened in the last 12 months.

A domain dropped, I got an offer on it, registered again and sold it.

Another domain got price request (maybe months after I tried outbound and got no response). The buyer could easily get it for 1K or maybe even less like 500 after my response to AN price request. This didn't happen. When the domain was in pending delete I got an offer at Sedo higher than the buy now price at AN . Ignored, got a higher offer after it was dropcaught by someone else. (had to contact sedo just to remove it). Domain was grabbed by a big player, So the dropcatching buyer probably knew there was a real inquiry. Maybe it could be sold at AN, but letting it expire first could be more profitable.. It is impossible to know what the hell is going on because we are not given feedback (response to outbounding emails, and IPs at marketplaces). But maybe this is part of the game, accept it and play accordingly.

If I see domains I own elsewhere for sale I will let it ride unless I want to use same marketplace and just keep eye on it. If they get an opportunity they have to come to me. I have at times put offer on domain they don't have but really it doesn't really trigger a sale as once prorata invoice is sent they will know they are dealing with domain owner.

that's just a feature to keep you engaged and busy
they wouldn't care
even if you talk to them

( I've tried )

Very true, they will say we hear you but then it does not change.

You need to be under the sales setting view to be able to edit prices. Login, go to my domains. Use the drop down menu at the top left and choose sales settings. You will see 200 domains per page. You can edit all pricing there.

If you click on the "domain" heading in column one, you can filter and choose by group. Meaning you can paste a list of domains to edit all at once if you want. Even copy a whole page from your registrar and it will work. I find editing prices easy at sedo.

doesn't that only work if one price fits all?

Yes.... He was saying he could not find where to see or edit prices at all. Say I have a group of 100 domains I want to edit the prices for. I can paste them into the search box and at the very least see them all on one page. Then edit them from there. Or edit all of them to the same price. Or remove all of the prices at once, etc.

basically what are the consequences?
you can't comply.
so what?

sedo/afternic will find most of these domains automated
sedo will ignore all feedback

so what?

Just delete the domain from your Sedo account if you don't renew it.

This issue of selling BIN simultanously on two platforms is overthought, in my opinion. If the domain is bought twice, it's probably the same buyer, and only if the buyer is both very diligent at finding a lower price BIN and also very obstinate or ignorant. This issue was addressed in a recent ep of Michael Cyger's Domain Social. Pros in the group were asked if this has happened to them, and only one person said yes. This person contacted the broker and simply said it was sold first on another platform and he would be honoring the first sale. The broker said oh, no problem. It happens sometimes and it's usually the same buyer. Don't worry about it. They did however say SEDO is most picky in their terms that you are obligated to deliver the domain, but if you have a lot of domains with these brokers, I'm confident they will overlook this kind of situation.

To the OP's second point, yes it is annoying and time consuming to keep updating BIN prices. I opt to try to set high BINs so I don't need to worry too much if there are old prices that don't align to my current expectations. When I get an inquiry on my Efty landers with price upon request, I check all the platforms I could have the domain listed BIN and quote the buyer the lowest price, minus commission that would be paid, and tell them they will pay any associated transfer fees. I think this is an ethical method.
