@alcy - congrats for your sale
It's weird that you did not sell much LL.al.
I had around 45 few years ago but sold many of them for reasonable prices.

believe me i tried... i had them on all main markets. and sale lander.
no bin prices though.. did that sink me you think? or maybe you just had better letters.. who knows. I never had 45 either.. maybe at most 15... then dropped some.. then kept handful of what I thought was best.. i think now I have left kc/al.... sw/al....
either way, plz do share your secret to so much success with LL.al... Im done with them but im sure others would love to hear.. did u have bins? where did you sell? price ranges? ty. cheers.

p.s. i still think .al has solid potential for some hacks.. the good ones.. but those you had to reg long time ago.. or buy on aftermarket.. thus decreasing your roi also in case of sale.. i think there is a bunch of .al hacks on namebio if i remember.

No secret really...

Answers below:
  • I use my own landers - like this for example yo.al
  • Yes - all my landers have a BIN set but I only sold one at the actual initial BIN :)
All others through negotiations with lead from the "make offer" form
  • Sold directly or, to be more precise, via the escrow api integration I have.
  • excel is saying average sale price was $877.2 :)
I though it was more but I think I sold a couple here on nP for peanuts so that takes the average down.
Don't want to push this offtopic so I guess that's about it for the short .al sales.
Anyway - again congrats. ROI is ROI ;)

I had my first ever sale.

Sold PeachyStudio.com for 2000$ via DAN.

Received 2k offer and accepted it the next day.

Domain pushed and funds received in the bank.

Acquired in December via GD Closeouts for 20$.

Did outbound to many potential businesses with no success.

Congrats!

I'm curious, did you try to submit this name to BrandBucket or SquadHelp? It may have sold for a higher price there.

After their commissions they would of received the same or less back.

Did fine IMO

It's a good sale as it is, I definitely agree. But this is a perfect name for a videochat business - there's a lot of money in this and, to the right buyer, the name could be easily worth double the reported sale price.

Then again, $2K now is better than $3-4K who knows when.

On the contrary. I think that you are seeing right now with this sale the succes of your outbound :)
Might be but I didn't outbound to the business that bought my name as they didn't had 'studio' in their brand name.
It was only after I saw the name and ip in DAN that I stumbled upon their LinkedIn page and got to know them.

Then you are right. It looks to be an inbound then. Congratulations anyway for your first ever sale!! Sure the first of many other sales to come!!

How come you paid commission? I thought you net full when GD buy service or broker comes?

Looks like buyer had $10K total
Budget to spend including fees, so subtract $50 for buy request, and 20% commission, seller would get whatever is left, as buyer did pay fees out of total budget.

It looks like sale happend about 5 months ago from email.

The buyer paid the commission, godaddy charge $49.99 + 20%.

My net was $7950, so the sale price was around $10k.

OK - I did not know this was possible, had the below emails from Afternic come through. The long and short of it is that the deal was never a deal.....

I assumed (dangerous I know) that once you received the email stating that "Great news, we have successfully verified the payment of $500.00 for rare.cc." Afternic had the money in their account and it was job done......

BUT the following emails came through later in the day.......

"Unfortunately, we couldn’t verify that the buyer of rare.cc had the funds to pay for it. We have requested they use a more secure purchase method. Until we receive payment, your domain will remain listed for sale.

Please do not release the name, accept any transfer requests or perform a change of account on this domain. Once this transaction is fully cancelled your domain is relisted for sale, please be sure to review and update any pricing for this listing in your Afternic account."

FOLLOWED BY......(response to my email)

"Hello,
We apologize for the inconvenience. The buyer was found in violation of our terms of service. We're working on getting the domain back to you now. We can push it to a GoDaddy account or provide you with the transfer auth code. Please advise how you'd like to proceed.
Thank You,"

^^^Transfer auth code? The name had been transferred to Afternic already, surely the 60 day lock comes into play? Name is being pushed to Godaddy, which is not ideal......

For all those that liked my (non) sales post please retract them, they are sadly for something that didn't happen and are undeserved......

So 2 sayings spring to mind

"Don't count your chickens before they hatch" (wait for funds to hit your account before posting here - lesson learnt)

&

"You learn something new everyday"

Back to the drawing board I go........

Sorry to hear that. sales getting retracted is one of the ( or probably) worst thing that can happen with us, recently i have come across some unhappy sellers of SH experiencing this, because of this and other various reasons from very start i don’t consider sale “a sale” unless and until i have received the payment in my bank account for it.

100% of my "sales" have been non-payers this month.

That's really nice if i was you i would surely give him 200-400$ just to show my support and appreciation towards him. It's always good to help People which somehow were contributing to your success in the process.

That means if you sell a name you hand registered you will give part to the registry?
