Nominet was determined to steal my domains and ID and they required ID and utility bills, but
my ID didn't have my address, and there is no utility bill under my name, I told them so,
they were still keep insisting we need id and bills...

Anyway my domains were validated via a registrar, but they still keep saying, uummn ,..
unfortunately...not even replying my message, just repeating the same thing.

Can I report them to ICANN?

Because they are inventing new rules just to steal my domains , money, time, and personal data.
Abusing their power. Only a higher power can beat them.

DISGUSTED !

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
So you got locked out of your account? Feel free to share more details via PM, I can try to help you somehow.

ICANN unfortunately has no control over Nominet. They are the sole guardian of UK domains and act at their own discretion. If you don't have any address proof in the UK, you can ask anyone there (perhaps any domainer in namepros may come to your rescue if asked for). Alternatively their are some registrars which act as a local representative on your behalf at additional charges, can think of moving to them.

yeah. uniregistry is one such registrar that can act on yer behalf.

dont know about others.. but odds are epik will do it too. not sure which one is cheaper though. gl

I told them one domain was validated via a registrar, so all my .uk domains with the same data in various registrars should all be validated (and if not, I would move all my domains to that registrar (for free), and get them validated there.)

They said "unfortunately..." without any reference to what I said.

And I sent an angry response. Now they may want to do revenge, but they were already enemy, I'm telling them, I'm willing to fight.

Proxy is not allowed. You can change ownership to get protected, but then you need to renew.
....
As far as I know nothing has been done against those registrations yet, but there is a threat of suspending and cancelling them. I hope they will realize they made a mistake.

Why exactly do they need this verification? Is it a basic whois verification? That should be pretty standard.

There are no restriction on (.co).uk so unless some flags were raised I don't see why they would need further verification.

ICANN has no authority over ccTLDs. I am not really sure what your recourse would be for this type of issue.

Registered with Epik , Dynadot and maybe also others. Epik and Dynadot ones (maybe these are all) have the same data. They made their request for domains at Epik, because my name was "domain admin" which was not acceptable to them, and this was not possible to fix at Epik (or there was a delay in updating). It was corrected at Nominet. According to Nominet those names were not at Epik, but this is probably an unimportant technical matter. I learned that it was possible to validate through a registrar (but Nominet was not telling me about such options). Epik was hesistant, but Dynadot validated one domain. So all should have been validated now, because their contacts are the same... Nominet's messages were not professional, they were robotic, and had typos, but they were "polite". As long as they were honest and had good faith I would have no problem with the rest. ..I sent another message to further clarify why validations should be complete by now. Hope they will correct themselves this time.

Why would a registry want my ID, and utility bills. For example my asking price can be 100K although, there can be at most one buyer for the domain. And the company may want to fix this problem by contacting the registry. They get my home address and learn what I look like, and hire someone to eliminate me, and let the domain drop, and they would handreg the domain for less than 10. If I'm careful and don't send such data, and instead use a pobox and don't send ID, then they would say, not validated, suspended, cancelled.
.......
Previously I owned unvalidated domains for a long time, and sold some, dropped some, had no problem.

I wouldn't be too worried about them passing on your private info. They legally can't keep your submitted documents on file after they verified the submitted info.

I get why you wouldn't want to give it to them though.

Might be an issue with Epik? Not sure if they're directly accredited but I'm sure Dan can help you out.

why did you go thru them to begin with? I just tried to reg a domain thru them and they direct me to godaddy anyway. hmmm

Not an issue about Epik. .uk domains can be modified directly at Nominet. After "correction", they still require ID. But after "validation", they shouldn't...BTW I had told Nominet, they should send me regular mail if they really want to verify my name and address, they kept insisting on ID and utility bills...Nominet was making lots of money from my actions recently.. why should they harrass me with nonsense, maybe because there is bigger money elsewhere.
.......
Let me tell you what I mean by "elsewhere". For example .biz registry was allowing premium domains to drop earlier than their standard drop time, maybe because they wanted their friends to quitely grab them, before they start promoting totally hated .biz extension... Recently they are grabbing them for themselves as if there is a reasonable excuse. For example they were even grabbing meaningless premium 3 letters by saying "reserved by registry".
