Now that I’ve been in South Korea for about a week I can tell you that .kr and .co.kr are everywhere, seriously, just about every ad, billboard, receipt, etc. has a .kr or .co.kr domain on it. Earlier this week I wrote an article about the sales history of .kr and .co.kr domains in 2019 and well, there isn’t much of it.
While it could be that not many sales are reported, given that South Korea does have a population of 51M which is larger than Canada, and there’s lots of publicly reported .CA data, I think the reality is there’s probably a lot more domain sales volume here than we’d think...

I am wondering and am unable to really find the info, except on .cn , I wonder if the governments are more in control of their country code domains vs the citizens of a country.

with .cn the Chinese government has to approve name server changes and ect, I know .ca .us and .eu have laws and bylaws regarding ownership and usage as well.

I just tried to reg a .kr domain at godaddy besides them being a trustee it is simple and $21.99. Ty

my understanding as I read it on .cn is, you can register a .cn, but you can not change name servers unless the .cn domain name is excepted by the Chinese Gov, and you have to send in documents to the China government.

not sure about that, i parked a couple .cn s on sedo and changed the nameservers. hmm.
