We are taking Confederate statues out of public areas in most places and we have made some Nazis materials illegal because they are offensive to some people and belong to an era that is best to be left behind, but amazingly some people still want to keep the Daddy name even though it might be politically incorrect and offensive to a lot of people.

Before the over 700 GoDaddy employees who are active members here go on the offensive I would like to ask them how long they think they can keep up with this double standard and what better time to think of a new name for one of the leading companies in the domain Industry to change its name to than right now that we are at the start of a whole new era of empowering people as domain and website owners.

So as a community of domaining and branding experts what do you all think is the best name for Godaddy to switch to.

amazingly to me is:
that you are a supporter and a fan-boy of a man
who supports holocaust deniers
in hosting nazi videos that want to discredit Holocaust survivors
claiming those are only journalists doing their work
and it's about "free speech"

(epik.com hosts them on us.tv
Rob is resisting to take them down)

maybe you are reading GoDaddy
and it actually means

God
Addy

Go.com

If fits the empowerment thesis.

If fits the cultural of action.

It is gender-neutral and politically correct.

Even if the domain is $10 million, ABC can give a reach-around with ad buy deals.

Counter argument if voice.com sold for
$30M, how can this sell for $10M? Given Godaddy brokered that sale, but it is the perfect domain.

Heck Go.com is the perfect domain for 90% of sites. They should have owned it long ago, as it works with the Godaddy.com theme regardless.

Why you always busting Rob's chops? He is about freedom of speech - regardless of one's view. He does not indiscriminately censure based on his beliefs - he allows ALL content.

Disney wont sell anything, they buy domains :) . Even if .. now is not the time to sell 2L / 3L names. (o.com auction > 2/3L .ext market value up) (y)

we are talking about supporting nazis as a thing of the past in this thread
@Rob Monster - You should sue Frank for Libel. He has made MANY baseless comments regarding your character.

Think of it this way. What if I created innuendo that Frank traffics in child porn - or even worse, a child predator, simply based on a domain name he has in his holdings. That wouldn't be right - but it would libel him as he is libeling you.

Frank - you have crossed the line too many times - I hope you get what you deserve - a lawsuit.

Go has no character.
GoDaddy does.
Just like Amazon.
Go.com would be a terrible choice!

"Go" is the root world in everything.

No Gomama or Gopapa in the world is better and will change that

Shorter is better, too much sentimental attachment with "Godaddy" never liked name..

“Amazingly some people”?????

Please Tell me, or all of us, how it is that the name GoDaddy-has personally affected your life for the past 30years and caused you suffering???🧐 I’ll wait....

What’s amazing is there still plenty of people that are Not offended by ever little Nook and cranny that does not fit “Their” narrative of life.

Enough is enough with the offended by everything.

The Trending “De- masculinity” of every g#D D##m thing right now because Everyone’s offended by everything...is to the point I wonder if my choice of Font will offended one reading 📖 it!.

I’m sure someone’s already “offended “ my post and you’re not half way through reading it whomever that may be.

Personally I think 🤔 GoDaddys new logo looks more like they are selling Dinner Dates, and honeymoons than Domain names ...( when something”s iconic Leave it that way )

Most Domainers KNOW godaddy changed their logo.....”most” people around the world DO NOT🌎 are UNAWARE.....Now who’s s selling names to whom , and who’s that going to affect.

Leaving an era behind is not the same as studying it.

So Statues offend some so let’s remove them, with that rationale what’s next, should we just remove and tear down museums too ?

How many people said they were offended by the statues but yet while they were voicing their self on social media were sitting comfortably in a fresh pair of sneakers Nike had made my some 13-year-old kid in a Chinese sweatshop factory and yet some people here want to talk about “double standards“. Better yet your APPLE IPHONE ...🤦🏻‍♂️

Leave Histroy alone and let it be history. It’s there to learn from, reflect and educate.
(.... or you may prefer a world 🌎 with no statues no 🦏rhinoceroses no 🦁lions🐅, no museums ) get the VISUAL “PICTURE”.(Insert GoDaddy Face)

LeaveDaddyAlone.com

Hell
Leave Domaining alone if “ GoDaddy” offends you. Good Greif

What’s next ....Sun Light ☀️? Or coffeshops that don’t allow creamer cuz it’s offends your neighbor?

Smh

The irony in ones choice of Username is astounding.

GoDaddy is fun and cheerful, it conveys emotions and is instantly recognizable. A great brand imo.
Go is void, dull.

"My domains are registered with 'Go' " ????
Abomination.

Whether it is $10 million or $30 million (unlikely) it is all funny money at that level anyway. This is one phone call between 2 CEOs and the executive team implements the rest.

For example, GoDaddy might want to advertise on Dancing with the Stars, ESPN, Disney theme parks? Who owns all that? ABC/Disney. There is a deal to be had there, no doubt.

See what they own:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_assets_owned_by_The_Walt_Disney_Company

Go becomes a cloud-centric empowerment company with a vast multi-channel consumer media outreach.

Believe it or not, most of humanity has never heard of Godaddy.

Ironically, who else likes "Go"? Amazon

I think a lot of folks expect Amazon to be the end-acquirer of Godaddy anyway.

If you listened to the GDDY conference call, the heavy emphasis was on cloud services and especially Wordpress hosting with end-to-end solutions across the customer journey.

This all assumes the GDDY management wants to re-brand anyway. However, if the goal is to signal breakthrough on the way to $10 billion in annual revenues, a re-brand now would make sense.

Rob, cloud is what saved Microsoft from becoming obsolete, of course the new CEO will emphasize the cloud, growing Microsoft cash cow... only thing give Microsoft stock life. Ironically,... Amazon #1 that area; AWS. (had to google name) #1 but the name "AWS" sucks

always go back to Amazon? lol. But believe also saving IBM. Cloud is playing a big role in changing alot of companies' fortune, certainly helps to have background in the future...

the Wordpress hosting part, now that part is new to me. Thanks for the info.

You would not drop Godaddy.

Godaddy just becomes a service a Go, or "Empowered by Go" or what have you.

You would not want to lose this SEO footprint anyway.

The question is what are you line-extending and whether the parent brand is visible or in the background.

P&G controls Pampers, Tide and Gillette, but P&G is in the background.

Microsoft controls Excel, Word, Powerpoint and Azure but Microsoft is in the foreground.

For a cloud company, trust is everything so the brand is in the foreground not the background.

@Ja Kai
I just asked @oldtimer
why he understands that supporting nazi proganda is no good idea
and at the same time supports epik and Rob as a fan
the same company / person that hosts nazi propaganda videos
Frank - you aren't too bright. You mistake Rob's restraint as weakness. Rob has been damaged by your libelous statements. You will most likely be sorry that you have continued on this path.

First of all, why is GoDaddy offensive? Am I missing something? Secondly, this thread is proof that we are living in the worst era of human civilization... it's like not even fun to be alive.

I actually only have love for Frank. He has helped me tremendously. The mods usually end up cleaning up his mess and dump his comments in the endless "Rob Monster" thread.

Frank might be an object lesson:

Whoso keepeth his mouth and his tongue keepeth his soul from troubles. - Proverbs 21:23

However, for the OP, inviting Frank to a thread is a good way to be a top-trending thread even though he sometimes struggles with staying on topic. It is what it is. The Mods allow it and they have their reasons.

Unbelievable..... almost lost for words

Why the hell would you try and compare a fascist regime to a company

If people find the name Godaddy offensive then the world is falling apart quicker than I thought it would....

Protest - find company logos with the word "daddy" in it and post in this thread.......

I'm no fan of GoDaddy but that has nothing to do with the name. And I for one fail to see how it's name is so bad. And I definitely dont think they will give up their brand recognition with a name change either.

As for this side conversation about Epik, there is a HUGE difference, I cant emphasize this enough, HUGE difference between permitting something and accepting or agreeing with it. Rob permits things as a matter of free speech not because he has to but because he realized it's the right thing to do. Free speech is important to the internet and as soon as you start drawing any line as to what you'll allow it's no longer free speech and anything is up next for censorship including things you may personally believe in or support. So I for one applaud rob for having the foresight to see the first from the trees on this and realize there is something bigger at stake.
