We are taking Confederate statues out of public areas in most places and we have made some Nazis materials illegal because they are offensive to some people and belong to an era that is best to be left behind, but amazingly some people still want to keep the Daddy name even though it might be politically incorrect and offensive to a lot of people.

Before the over 700 GoDaddy employees who are active members here go on the offensive I would like to ask them how long they think they can keep up with this double standard and what better time to think of a new name for one of the leading companies in the domain Industry to change its name to than right now that we are at the start of a whole new era of empowering people as domain and website owners.

So as a community of domaining and branding experts what do you all think is the best name for Godaddy to switch to.

What will we learn from this question?
Will they listen and change the name?

You never know, lets hope so,

the fact remains that this name is outdated and politically incorrect so sooner or later they have to face up to this issue.

It’s just wasting time to speculate what they will do which we have no control. I am more concerned about services and pricing than the name change.

We have control over our own opinion and what we consider to be right, we don't have to surrender to something that is definitely wrong and outdated, the overall public opinion about issues such as this will eventually make the decision makers pay attention, after all there where a lot of Confederate statues that were removed.

You are going down the road of politically incorrect/offensive on GDs name? As an AI enthusiast and proponent that it will fix everything, have you looked into a machine that will fix this horrible horrible problem plaguing the Earth, maybe it can zap us all into not being offended and saying the right things at the right times.. in the end perhaps even becoming robots ourselves?

Personally, GD name kicks ass, one of the only one's that does.

Haven't there been name changes in other areas such sports teams or mascots that some people wanted to keep because they were diehard fans and thought of them the same way as you do about the Daddy name.

But why are we concerned?

We are entering a new era of empowering people through domains and websites and this name just doesn't fit that goal very well.

I gave up. Some people just have too much time.

Don't give up, something positive might come out of this soon as I predict that there will be a name change for the better in the near future.

Maybe they should consider buying 'GoMama.com' as a sister/mother site to appease those whose are having to deal with the oppressiveness of the 'daddy' syndrome due to the callous male indication.

I’m not sure why a name change is needed. Who exactly is offended by the name and for what substantive reason?

Not sure exactly what you mean by offensive. Daddy is a term of endearment for one’s father. Putting that aside, they are not changing their name with such huge name recognition.

Horrible thread. I find your name oldtimer offensive. It’s ageist. Please correct this soon.

comparing the word Daddy to those subjects is quite a big jump to say the least..

I think there was a thread on this on 1 April with some good points on new names and naming strategy.

Go.com.

Too bad they can't get that

That will be the perfect domain, maybe they can buy it from Disney since they have enough money for new acquisitions.

Disney not using it, have lot debt from buy Fox.

At least sell it to somebody use? focus on core

Really, after reading this, I am not sure how serious are you now.
So, comparing Nazis with Daddy name? Are you serious?

And responding to your question, in my opinion, GoDaddy is very catchy and distinctive, way more than just Go.com for example.
And that was one of the keys of GoDaddy success.
