But maybe I should invest more time in this, at least on days when I don't have much to do. There must be some overlooked gems in all that sea of expiring domains, right?

I am not sure if you meant the direct (huge) raw lists, or the various compilations of picks.

I almost never look at the raw lists of expiring names. It varies a bit, but I only spend a few minutes typically, often none, on the various compilation lists. On the day the .ca TBR comes out from @DomainRecap I normally go through the list fully, even though I am not a big .ca investor. More times than not, I quickly glance at @Ategy lists especially closeouts, but don't spend long. I mainly am only seeing if anything in niches of interest to me. I go through the NameLiquidate lists lately - at just about 1500 at any one time and on for 7 days, it is not that tough yet to browse the full lists. I do notice some promoted names when I am on NameBio. Now and then I look at Shane's lists. Other than that, it is pretty hit an miss for me.
